I absolutely hate writing negative reviews, but after nine nights at this hotel, I feel I have no choice. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had.
We stayed for nine nights all-inclusive from the end of August into the beginning of September. The location was good, but unfortunately, that was about the only positive thing I can say.
Breakfast was just about acceptable if you were prepared to microwave your food yourself if you wanted it hot. Lunch and dinner, however, were absolutely unacceptable. I understand that repetition is normal with an all-inclusive package, and I certainly don't expect five-star food, but what we experienced was beyond poor considering the amount we paid.
Food was repeatedly served cold, tasteless and completely unappetising. After a few days, we genuinely dreaded going into the restaurant because we already knew what to expect. Basic is one thing — cold, flavourless and poorly prepared food is another.
The pool was absolutely freezing. In fact, the sea was warmer! It was hardly used by guests, apart from a few brave children who could only tolerate it for a short time. What is the point of advertising a pool that is practically unusable?
The entertainment was another major disappointment. Rather than enjoyable entertainment, it seemed to consist largely of loud shouting. It was so unpleasant at times that it actually felt like the hotel was trying to encourage guests to leave rather than making them feel welcome.
Then came the incident that really ruined the stay for us. We were shouted at by a member of staff who was extremely rude and intimidating. My partner was left feeling so uncomfortable and uneasy that she no longer felt comfortable leaving the room alone. That is absolutely unacceptable in any hotel, never mind one where you have paid for an all-inclusive holiday.
We contacted management regarding what happened and, despite raising the issue, received no response whatsoever.
After only two nights, we stopped going to the bar. That says everything.
We paid for nine nights all-inclusive expecting a basic, relaxing holiday. Instead, we experienced poor food, a freezing pool, terrible entertainment, rude and intimidating staff, and management that couldn't even be bothered to respond to a serious complaint.
I genuinely don't like leaving negative reviews, and I have never felt the need to write one like this before. But I would seriously think twice before booking this hotel. Based on our experience, it was nowhere near the standard we expected for the money we paid.
Nine nights felt like eight nights too many.
We have just finished our 10 day holiday with friends and family. As requested we got 2 rooms close together. From the minute we walked in, reception was excellent. The guy who checked us in addressed us by our names which was a nice touch, he was really sweet with the kids too. We arrived around 10:30pm and they had put on a seafood buffet, which was another nice touch. The rooms were very spacious and clean, with large balconies! The pool area was lovely, the lady who cleans the pool area worked incredibly hard and was out about 6/6:30 every day hosing down the sunbeds and floors! First couple of days people were putting their towels out around 7am! This did stop when the cleaner started folding towels and putting them on the walls! You don’t need to be that person that wakes up early for the best sunbeds, there is plenty there! The hotel is ideally situated with good access to everything in Caleta! The entertainment: So if you want a full on entertainment program this isn’t for you: It was relaxed a bit of riffle shooting darts cocktail making ect from Tuesday- Saturday. Sunday and Monday are days off- although I believe they had a singer on in the evenings. Micky and Miguel do their best with what they have, and are very kind and funny people! Very sad we didn’t get to say goodbye! For what we wanted on holiday this was perfect! I see many reviews about the food: Breakfast was very good- there was so much choice! Lunch I can’t comment as I never had lunch. Dinner: There was always something, lots of pizza and always chips. I have very strict dietary restrictions- so for me I had potato’s or rice with bread- this was always available! No matter where I went this would’ve been the same, but the children and other adult ate well. I will note, something to be careful of, one night it said white rice and it had lots of onion in, which I absolutely can’t eat! Unfortunately this led to food waste! So just watch out! It only happened 1 night thankfully! The snack bar: burgers chips hot dogs salad ect, always crisps/ sweets/ nuts on the bar. Drinks were good for all inclusive! Self serv fizzy/ beer/ coffee. If you like an ice coffee, you can do expressos and add some ice and just ask behind the pool bar for some milk! Mr Whippy machine included on the all inclusive too! With a range of sauces! We didn’t actually eat out in the 10 days we were there- but there is a lot around if you do want to. All in all we all had a great time- and would return for the relaxation! We were sad to leave yesterday! Thank you for a lovely stay, and I can’t wait to return!
This hotel has aged and is slightly past its hey day but tis comfortable, clean, right on the beach and the sea views are to die for. Reading some of the reviews here I started to get really worried about what I’d booked! However my husband and I have just got back from a 5 night stay here in a Junior Suite and had a perfectly pleasant time. We stayed half board and swapped the dinner for lunch instead, don’t know why you’d go all inclusive here given the vast selection of fabulous restaurants so close to it and bars are only a short walk away. The beach isn’t private and owned by the hotel so you have to pay for beds but they ate ridiculously cheap compared to mainland Spain (only 5.50 per bed and no charge for the umbrella). The pools are all salt water which keeps them cool on hot days. Saw absolutely no sunbed wars around the pool. There were always beds by the smaller pool and the hotel seemed to rise quite late as it’s cloudy first thing in the morning so many a time we wandered down to breakfast at 10am past many empty sun loungers. The entertainment is terrible. Not worth sticking around the hotel for when there are live bands in the town a 10min trot down the street. The Junior Suite itself needs a refurb but only to bring it up to date and fix some wear and tear. The bed and pillows were super comfy and the balcony size and views were extraordinary. We found all the staff there to be very pleasant, they even left us a bottle of cava in the suite on my husbands birthday which I thought was a lovely touch. Food wise for breakfast and lunch there was plenty of tasty options and I’m pescatarian so not easy to please. All in all would I go back? Absolutely but I would never go all inclusive here as there is just no point.
We stayed her from the 25th-30th of August on an all-inclusive basis. Firstly the hotels location was ideal, the beach was within metres of the hotel and perfect if you have children. The hotel itself was clean, we were allocated 2 junior suites, on the 2nd floor, one for my family (2 adults, 2 children) and the other for my parents. The junior suites are spacious, we had a big living room (sofa converted into a bed), it had lots of storage and a dining table, a cabinet with a TV. We also had a kitchen, with an electric hob, microwave, kettle and access to a small fridge. We had plates, cups, glasses and if we needed anything else we could request this from reception. The bathroom again was big, we had a bathtub with shower, a his/her sink and a toilet with a separate sliding door. The bedroom had two single beds (put together) a desk (with another TV) and a chair. We also had access to a large balcony, our room faced the main swimming pool and also had a view of the sea. The cleaners came everyday and towels etc were changed. The hotel has access to three pools and you cannot reserve your sun lounger (if you do they will fold your towels and put them aside) there are signs telling you, you cannot do this. We never struggled to get a sun lounger, whatever time we went. The pool bar is basic, they have machines where you can help yourselves to soft drinks, juices and snacks which is good. Alcoholic drinks are served by staff. The food...breakfast was standard, everyday was pretty much the same, full English, cereals, porridge, pastries, fruit, yogurts, juices etc. Lunch and dinner was very repetitive (all though it was nice) and towards the end of the holiday we were a bit bored of eating very similar food everyday. Also only 80% of the food is labelled and when you don’t eat certain meats it can be hard to identify what things are so they need to be a bit more on top of that. On our final day we went to a lovely Indian restaurant and finally had something that was different. Hotel entertainment was poor (to be fair the two guys who run it were lovely, however between the two of them they can only do so much). The only night we enjoyed was the bingo night. I think a quiz night or something more interactive would have suited guests better. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance so plenty of choice if you choose another board basis to stay. I would return to this destination again and although we had a great holiday I would probably stay at another hotel or change the board basis and stay at this one.
Had a premium view junior suite, amazing view, massive balcony, apartment type room.massive comfortable bed, can not fault it 100% fabulous. Best accommodation i have ever had. Entertainment was not great, a few acts on in the evening but it was probably the worst ive experienced for a 4 star hotel, real shame. Two guys did the Entertainment in the day and they were nice enough, but obviously needed time off and nothing else was provided for the two days. The life guards were great as were a few of the bar staff minus one that was very rude and appeared to dislike the English or maybe just us??? Didn't get his name as he didn't wear a name badge, to be fair nor would I if i was that rude!!! The food was nice, they provide a microwave which was great for me as I love hot food. Soup was lovely Bars snacks were not great, all hotels ive visited before, have menus that you can order from, at this hotel it was just a bain-marie with the same everyday, I didn't eat from there once. Uggg still the reserving of sunbeds happened, the young life guard did remove towels on one day, only to be met by abuse from the man, after deciding to come to the pool in the afternoon after putting towels down first thing in the morning. I felt sorry for the lifeguard, bless him he was so lovely. There is another pool that is quiet and we could always get a bed at any time of the day. The sunbeds are so uncomfortable which is a shame. The pool is freezing even kids were crying getting in, I found it welcoming as it was so hot, but couldn't stay in for too long, salt water, which ive never experienced before but it was surprisingly not a problem. The beach right outside the hotel is gorgeous. We had to pay 20 euros for 2 towls on arrival which is refundable, whilst I understand this, each time we asked for clean ones we had to pay a further euro each, mmmmm im not sure thats great for a fully inclusive package. The lady that sits in the hotel regarding hiring a car please tell her she is representing your hotel and to be a bit more friendly, because she was so standoffish we decided not to bother, maybe she dislikes certain nationals too? The Spa??? We actually couldn't find it! Or it was closed? All holidays previously people would approach you talking about the spa, we went in the direction but saw a squash court, closed but nothing else, you are definitely missing out on an opportunity as we both wanted to use it and pay. Loved seeing the planes fly so low over the hotel 🥰 Thank you for a great holiday and I hope you take our feedback as not as a negative but as just what could have been better in our opinion. Oscar, the lifeguards the Entertainment guys you are a credit to this hotel 👏 🙌 👌
