Cheap and Cheeful

My friend and I went for 3 nights last week. We read all the reviews and because all we wanted was a relaxing few days by the pool we decided the price was worth the risk.

Excellent distance from the Airport (literally took 9mins) and only 3 miles from the main beach and shopping centre ( I ran to the shopping centre and back 1 morning).

The reception staff made it very easy to get signed in and into my room ( It was available 3hrs early).

The rooms are tired but big and clean so if decoration is a big thing for you then my advice would be dont stay at this hotel.

The pool is a good size and we didnt struggle finding a bed even at midday when we first arrived. It was a refreshing change that nobody was able to secure a bed before 10am so no need to play sunbed wars so welly done to the hotel on this.

The drinks are decent with Cruzcampo being the lager and very good measures on the spirits.

Daytime entertainment was good for the kids but evening entertainment wasnt so good. Be aware that animation team dont work Friday or Saturday (well didnt when I was there).

Food was typical all inclusive selections with a different special theme each day. Did seem at times that if the hotel was at capacity that seating might be an issue but there may well be another room to be opened not sure.

All in all if you want a relaxing by the pool holiday with a few beers and some food and you dont mind that some decorating needs doing and furnishings need to be replaced then this hotel is perfect.

1 little thing is there needs to be more toilets by the pool as I found 1 toilet for everyone so there was a queue most days

Exactly what is says on the tin

My friend and I came away for a week with the plans to get tanned, tipsy and relax. All of these goals were definitely achieved.

Room- We were pleasantly surprised with the amount space. It had a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom with a bidet (first time users) and a bath. Our stay was during the World Cup ( I am a football fan and my friend is a Love Island fan) and we were thrilled to discover there were English channels on the TV. Our balcony was also spacious and equipped with a towel drying rack which was very useful! It is worth noting, the room did not have aircon however, we kept the curtains closed in the day time and it stayed relatively cool. A couple of night it was a little warm, so I jumped in a cold shower before bed which meant to could fall asleep. The reviews regarding ants in the room were not reflected in our experience and thigh tgere were a few bugs, as there are everywhere, they did not remotely bother us.

Pool area Great pool, though cold, is refreshing and big and lively. The pool is not massive but I am an avid swimmer and still managed to get a few lengths in. Some of the Sunbeds are broken, however woth a little common sense you can check before hand and then choose to move it to your desired location. There were plenty of Sunbeds to go around, we managed to get the same spot everyday which got the sun. There also umbrellas and shaded seating areas for those who do not with to be in the sun all day long. Poolside entertainment was good, we played darts for shots, there was a walk on water style pool challenge and lots of aqua aerobics. The animation staff, Iker, is hilarious however not too persistent like they can be in other resorts if you just want to read your book in peace.

Drink The bar is very generous. They do not have limits on amounts of drinks per person. We were drinking gin and tonic mostly and they would pour us 50/50 measures which was perfect. A few times they would ask if we wanted a big or small measure which was a thoughtful touch as most all inclusive are stingey. The pool bar and the evening bar are consistent in this. The spirits aren’t the best quality but you can pay for imported if you wanted, however the local stuff Isnt bad. In the restaurant you can have beer (cruzcampo 3.4%) or wine/sangria. The white was good for my friend and I, a couple of times we had 3 with our lunch lol! Throughout the day, you can help yourselves to soft drinks from the dispensers so there is never a queue at the bar. All the bar staff are lovely and generous.

Food I think it is important to beat in mind this is a 3 star hotel which is very reasonably priced. Everyday we found something nice to eat.

Breakfast- a little respective however there was savoury, sweet, yogurt and cereal so it is what you make it. Some days we would make a bacon sandwich or have eggs on toast. The mushrooms are lovely.

Lunch- we loved lunch. We would often sit for a while and just get picky bits from the salad bar. Once again slightly repetitive but we just got different things each day. They have sliced hand and meat to make sandwiches with and hit food as well.

Pool snacks - from 3pm they have burgers and hot dogs by the pool (also available at the lunch sitting) and often a few left over bits such as onion rings/calamari.

Dinner - dinner once again a little repetitive but always something we liked. We did go out for dinner a couple of nights so it was not bother to us.

All in all, the food was decent but with the price is was justified for us to go out a couple of nights for a change.

Evening entertainment We have come whilst the World Cup is on so a lot of the entertainment was sucbsides for the football. However a few nights the did karaoke. There is supposedly entertain on until 11 but when the football finished at 10 it would sort of die down. Now, Im not too annoyed by this as on of the matched was Spain v Portugal and Spain won so I imagine the entertainment staff wanted to celebrate, as I would if it were England.

Location Location is remote. No fault of the hotel, I have seen people whinging about this but they obviously have not done their research before hand. Caleta is lively and a 40 minutes scenic walk of a €4 5-minute taxi away. There is also stoners the Irish bar round the corner which has good beer, sports and a lovely bar lady called Marie There is also a Chinese and Indian round the corner. We went to the Indian which was lovely.

All in all, the reviews are very critical of place that does exactly what it says on the tin. I would definitely come back as it is exceptional value for money.

Hotel was ok

The hotel itself is a little run down and the food is ok. But Ikea the entertainment is fantastic with the kids and works hard throughout the day and night to make their days more enjoyable.

Basic bargin hotel

When you pull up to the hotel, its a bit out of place and the hotel looks great however it is surrounded by large open spaces with one space has half finished building which we were unsure if it was being put up or knocked down.

The reception is well looked after and the central point to access to restaurant, pool and shop. We arrived at the hotel and were welcomed by the reception staff, who are the most helpful team in the whole hotel.

We were given directions to our room and were advised there was lift, but prepare yourself that it it is very small and we are unsure how they think 4 people could fit in.

Our room was spacious with kitchen/dining/ living room having everything you need for your holiday. The bedroom was good with 2 single beds put together. Only 1 pillow on bed but you can ask reception for more if needed. No air conditioning, but we managed by having window open but would suggest that fan is needed so add in €10 for deposit and then €15 for the week. They are just small desk fans so you may need more than 1. The rooms are a little bashed but very clean and the cleaning staff came in daily with bedding and towels cleaned 3 times during our stay.

The building is circular so large portion of rooms overlooking the pool. This is perfect as when you are in pool it is protected from any wind. The pool does not open until 10am and sunloungers are not unlocked until about 9am. The pool also closes at 6pm and you are encouraged to leave area and loungers locked up again which seems such a shame for missing out on some sun. They say you can not reserve them however noone monitors and very frustrating as some people went out for the morning leaving the towels on the loungers. There is limited shaded areas so you have to be quick.

There is a childrens pool seperate for the kids as well as shallow area in big pool. There is bar at pool which is well stocked and available when pool open with easy access to getting your own fizzy drinks.

At the moment there is no lift to the restaurant which I believe is out of action for sometime and not going to be up and running until next year. You can use the room lift to the 3rd floor but there is still 1 set of stairs to get to restaurant.

The meals are buffet, though they do have signs saying there is restaurant above this but that is not currently in place. Breakfast is 8 til 1030 and there is always large quantity of food but very little variability. The food is more lukewarm to hot. There is limit options for those with dietary restrictions though they do put signs above food identifying possible allergies but there is noone stopping kids and adults mixing spoons so there is risk. As someone with those issues, I struggled to have any variety even though I approached the hotel prior to assure they could accommodate. The staff in the area have very little interest in interacting with customers and you have to figure out everything on your own. They also had little interest or understanding of allergies/ intolerances also causing some contamination.

Lunch is 1300 til 1500 with again food being lukewarm and limited options. There is snacks at the pool 1500 til 1700 which are cooked in the bar but no options for those with dietary requirements as everything cooked in same friers and then put in silver containers and left out in the sun.

Dinner is 1830 til 2130 and has very similar options seen at lunch and has some themes but majority is pork and meat on bone. Again limited options for dietary requirements.

Below the restaurant is the bar, sadly you are not allowed to take drinks out of here. Again well stocked with lots of options but sadly again staff not very engaging and seem more frustrated you are bothering them. Not very welcoming so we did not stay around for any of the entertainment.

The shop has variety of wears but if you go self catering not enough options for setting you up. But Lidls is about 30 min walk away.

To get to beach you will have to go to calte de fuste to access but there is free bus from hotel in morning but doesn't start til after 10. To get back you will have to come back by walking, local bus or taxi. Taxi is very cheap and fast so definitely recommend.

Check out is noon but staff were very helpful allowing us to extend u til 1500 for €25. We could only confirm this the day before but receptions staff were very helpful advising if it was not possible, they have luggage storage and we could continue to use facilities. With option of shower in gym.

We had issues with dead birds at the hotel during our stay. They were by the pool, in the corridors and on our balcony. Staff seemed unfazed by this and took 3 times speaking to reception before it was dealt with.

In regards to entertainment around pool, there was not a lot happening though there was aqua carpet brought out on some days for kids for an hour. There was sign up about aqua fit and dancing but i did not see any of this happening. There was also a poor soul who came out in mascot costume, they must have been roasting. On leaving, was disturbed to hear that the entertainment staff had asked to see a child's phone and then had provided reviews for the hotel which parents had found out as they kids phones are linked to their accounts. Very concerned from safe guarding and honesty of staff.
