Sol Timor

We love this hotel and have coming for years. Had a nice room on the second floor with a marina view. The location is terrific right on the beach and lots of good bars and restaurants just outside the hotel. Our favourite is La Fragata on the sea front. Had a bit of a moan this year regarding security at the hotel. Basically anyone can walk into to the hotel through reception or by the gate on the promenade side. I think every one knows the code. My gripe is, and it did not affect me, is the number of non residents who come and take sunbeds. I witnessed this every day. And when genuine residents arrive by midday or whatever they cannot get a sunbed. Time to reinstate the wristbands that they had a couple of years ago or some other system to identify genuine customers who have paid for the privilege. By the way I am booked for next year. Love the place.

Love this hotel, have been going here twice a year since I was 27, I’m 50 in a few weeks… it’s clean, got everything I need, staff are great. The improvements over the years has been vast, coming back the end of August and can’t wait.

This hotel is the best bar none in Torremolinos. Just home from our 5th visit to this hotel and once again we loved it. Amenities, staff across the whole hotel, cleanliness, location, on-site shop, water pressure and value for money all 5 stars. Our little boy( almost 5) had a ball meeting new friends, taking part in the Kidsdom kids club and being in the pool. Our little girl (18 months) was always included and encouraged to play and join in whilst kids club was running both during the day & night, The schedule was as always varied and really enjoyable. Mini Disco, pool games, cinema, t-shirt designing, baking, clay models, mini Olympics etc to name but a few. The adult entertainment throughout the day & night was also brilliant and varied - singers, circus, magic, dancers etc. The soul singers, Mama Cath and the flamenco were brilliant. The entertainment staff as always made my little boy's holiday and he loved that they remembered him & us from previous years. He can be shy and this consistency was really appreciated. I trust them 1 million percent with my children. Gonzalo, Pablo, Raul & Montse as always are fab with the added addition of Hugo, Laura, Claudia and Alberto. The best team who go over and above to make sure guests have an amazing holiday. They have infectious enthusiasm and high energy going out of their way to make every day enjoyable. The on- site shop staff are fab too, great selection of basics & staples plus little luxuries and a well stocked ice cream selection and soft drinks aswel as alcoholic beverages. The prices are great and not inflated like some other on-site shops. Edu, Angie and Felipe always have a smile for you on every visit. The apartment was spotless and the kitchenette has all mod cons. Applause to the housekeeping staff. Now to the reasons I never gave 5 stars... Sadly,I have 2 areas of improvement. However both areas were sorted out by Franco, one of the hotel managers. He was courteous, kind and efficient. Great guy and after speaking to other returning guests like myself he did this for them too. So, thank you again Franco. The hotel has been taken over by The Melia Group, had a name change and a few amendments to hotel policies. As stated before, we have stayed here 4 times previously. On all occasions our room was ready for arriving at 1:30/2pm local time. On this visit it was not and we had to wait until almost 4:30 for our room. Not great with 2 children under 5 after a very early flight from Scotland. It was a small consideration of our room being ready in previous years amongst other great things that made us always choose this hotel again and again. Secondly, the 7-7:30am sunbed dash every morning to secure sunbeds for myself & my family with parasols. If we left it any later, sunbeds without hotel issue straw topped parasols were the only option if not any at all. This has also never been an issue in previous years but this year strangely it was. We go early July every year. It baffled me every morning. We were gifted a pre loved parasol by an Irish family who were leaving so we had shade for our toddler. We did this for almost 4 days of our 10 days holiday. Half way through day 4, a security member of staff approached us and said we would have to remove this parasol as it was against hotel policy. So we did and then had to join the early morning dash for the for the remainder of our holiday. Not great. I hate complaining but felt I had to.

As stated at the start of my review I love this hotel and these gripes can be simply rectified. There is plenty of land to install more hotel issue parasols for all guests to use. Thank you again to Team Sol Puerto Marina for a very enjoyable 10 days in the sun. We'll be back next year for another brilliant stay.
