We had a great holiday at this hotel, Jose in the restaurant was brilliant, very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us, a true professional at what he does. I really can’t fault the hospitality, staff and general feeling of staying at this hotel, I’d highly recommend to everyone, please take no notice of the negative comment's, this hotel will have everything you need. FANTASTIC!!

Lovely long weekend

Ignore all the horrendous reviews. We booked this 14m ago when it was the Gran Cevantes and when reading the recent reviews after it changed hands we were very apprehensive about going, however we shouldn’t have been. We are a group of friends age 35-44 and had 2 rooms on the 2nd floor, yes they are a bit dated however they are extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable, the rooms were a really good size and a decent balcony. The whole hotel was very clean and although the staff didn’t speak much English they were all very pleasant. We went all inclusive, ignore the comments about only eating bread, there is ample choice so there would be something for everyone, the staff were constantly bringing out fresh food and cleaning tables etc. There was very little in the way of hotel entertainment so if you want this all in house then look elsewhere, but as the location is so good there is lots going on around the hotel, lots of restaurants and bars and shops. The pool area was well maintained and yes could do with some new sunbeds but there was no sunbed wars or rushing to put down towels, It was all very relaxed which was great. The lifts are very slow so we did have to use the stairs quite a bit so I can see how this could cause issues for people with mobility issues. I would probably say the hotel is 3* rather than 4* but overall I honestly don’t know what all the 1/5 are for, it is absolutely nowhere near that bad. We had a lovely 4 days here and would definitely return if we ever go back to torremolinos.

Tired old hotel

We booked a superior room on half board, the room we had is a corner foom on the first floor which is good because we can use the stairs as the lifts take a while and are only small although there is about five of them. The room has nothing superior about it other than it is large and has a large corner balcony, but the furniture is very dated with drawers falling apart and a small wardrobe and a funny smell to the room. There is plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner but the food quality is poor and you are often waiting for food to be replenished. The hotel is in a great position which is its best attribute , but the place on a whole needs shutting down for six months and refurbishing throughout .

My husband called this hotel Alcatraz

Good location, but sadly that's where the positives end.

The location is excellent and within walking – or, in my case, limping – distance of most attractions.

Firstly, a huge thank you to Juan, the young intern, who did everything he could to accommodate our needs. His kindness and willingness to help were genuinely appreciated.

Secondly, a big thank you to the restaurant staff, who went above and beyond to ensure I was seated comfortably and supported my disability and use of a walking stick. Their care and professionalism were outstanding.

Before we travelled, we tried to change hotels after reading several concerning reviews. Unfortunately, we were told it was too late and advised to speak to the airline's representatives on arrival. After spending two days living out of a suitcase and dealing with my disability, the only alternative offered would have cost almost £1,000 extra for a room in another hotel without a balcony or terrace. This was completely unacceptable.

Sadly, the hotel lived up to the negative reviews.

Lifts: The lift system between Blocks was appalling, making it difficult and frustrating to get around. Rooms: We viewed four different rooms, and none were any better. They were all tired, dark and dated, with old furniture, very few electrical sockets and no USB charging points. Bed: The bed was extremely uncomfortable, like sleeping on a plank. I had to request three extra pillows just to support my back and help with my mobility. Wardrobe: The sliding wardrobe doors were incredibly stiff and heavy. I nearly trapped and injured my finger trying to open them. Bathroom: This was by far the biggest issue. There was no walk-in shower, and the bathroom was far too small for anyone with mobility issues. I was unable to shower because I could not safely get in and out of the bath using my walking stick. Instead, I had to wash in the sink. Even using the toilet was difficult, as I had to hold onto the sink unit to sit down and stand up. There simply wasn't enough space to manoeuvre, and the bathroom door had to be opened and closed repeatedly just to move around.

Overall, this was an awful experience for both myself, as someone with a disability and mobility issues, and my husband. We are mature professionals in our mid-60s and early 70s, and we would never return to this hotel, regardless of its excellent location. Finally, at around 1:00 am on our first night, I could hear the sound of water dripping. As my husband was asleep, I managed to get up to investigate and discovered that the floor was covered in water. There was clearly a fault with the air conditioning overflow, which had caused a significant leak.

I was unable to report the problem by telephone because there were no instructions in English explaining how to use the room phone. As a result, I had to limp down to reception using my walking stick.

When I reported the issue, I was asked if the problem could wait until the morning. I firmly said no, explaining that the floor was covered in water and posed a serious slipping hazard. I also made it clear that I have mobility issues and a disability, and that if I slipped and injured myself there could be a personal injury claim. This was a clear health and safety risk that required immediate attention, not something that could simply be left until the next day. The problem was fixed but again another issue that could have resulted in a major problem. FOR ANYONE WHO HAS A DISABILITY OR MOBILITY ISSUES. PLEASE BE ADVISED THERE ARE NO WALKIN SHOWERS AT THIS HOTEL.

I can now understand why TripAdvisor has downgraded this hotel to 2.5 stars. It is disappointing that the major airline we booked through still listed it as 3.5 stars, especially as it was advertised as a 4-star hotel when we made our booking.

Best experience

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The food was excellent, with plenty of delicious options available throughout our visit. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very well maintained, making our stay comfortable and relaxing. The hotel's location was also perfect, with a shopping centre and a great selection of restaurants just a short walk away, making it very convenient. A special thank you to Monica Galundo, who looked after our room so wonderfully. Her attention to detail, friendliness, and hard work made our stay even more enjoyable. We truly appreciated her excellent service. We would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again.
