Torremolinos

This charming hotel is ideally located directly in the centre of the bustling tourist hub of Torremolinos. The hotel is just a few minutes' walking distance from a glorious sandy beach, allowing guests the opportunity to enjoy leisurely strolls and a dreamy seaside holiday. Guests will find an array of shops, entertainment venues, restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity. This modern hotel welcomes guests with warm hospitality and excellent facilities. Visitors may like to rest by the side of the outdoor swimming pool, sunbathe or have a refreshing swim. The rooms decorated with wooden furniture are equipped with cosy beds and essential amenities, offering visitors a peaceful heaven in which to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

This is not a 4 star

Here’s the full polished version, with the room issues incorporated naturally:

I honestly don’t know where to start. Unfortunately, there were so many issues during our stay that it was extremely disappointing.

The lifts were probably some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. There is no indication of where the lifts are currently located, so you have no idea when one will arrive. They are small, old and incredibly slow, meaning you can be waiting for what feels like forever.

We also had a huge ant infestation directly outside our balcony. There were literally hundreds of ants, which was extremely unpleasant and not something you would expect during a hotel stay.

The rooms themselves were also disappointing. The walls are incredibly thin, and you can hear conversations, doors closing and general noise from neighbouring rooms. This made it difficult to relax and get a decent night’s sleep.

The mattresses definitely need replacing. They appear to be memory foam, but they have become so worn that you end up rolling into the deeply embedded middle section of the mattress. Combined with the noise from neighbouring rooms, it made for a very uncomfortable night’s sleep.

The pool area was severely overcrowded, with nowhere near enough sun loungers for the number of guests. There is an “overspill” area where additional loungers are placed on mud. This means that once you come out of the pool and use these loungers, your feet and belongings end up covered in mud.

What makes this even more frustrating is that there were empty cabanas sitting unused while guests were struggling to find a sun lounger. These cabanas are available at an additional cost of €30 during the week and €50 at weekends. It seems unreasonable to have guests struggling to find somewhere to sit while empty spaces are being kept aside for those willing to pay extra.

The breakfast was also very disappointing, particularly when it came to the fruit selection. The only options available seemed to be melon or watermelon. The orange juice also left a very unpleasant, almost chemical taste in your mouth.

I had forgotten to bring my conditioner, so I used the conditioner provided by the hotel. Unfortunately, it was so watered down that it literally came out like water when dispensed.

Finally, I was shocked when reception tried to charge us a €20 holding deposit simply to use an iron. Considering the overall standard and cost of the stay, this felt completely unreasonable.

Overall, there were simply far too many issues for us to consider this a comfortable or enjoyable stay. For a hotel of this standard, there are clearly a lot of areas that need improvement. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not return.

Ok

I hope my review helps you decide if this hotel is right for you.

We actually booked this hotel by mistake and, after reading the rather poor reviews, were quite worried, especially as we planned to stay for more than 10 days. In the end, we were pleasantly surprised.

The rooms are dated and could use some renovation, but this didn’t bother us. The biggest problem is the doors: they let in light and there is almost ZERO soundproofing. You can hear neighbours slamming doors, shouting and staff moving around the corridors. Noise is definitely the biggest downside. Some guests simply forget they are not staying alone. 😅

The bed was fantastic – huge, probably 3 metres wide 😃 and honestly the most comfortable hotel bed we’ve ever had. The pillow was average, but I slept very well with no neck pain.

The balcony is VERY small, but enough to sit outside in the evening with a cup of tea. Unfortunately, there is nowhere to hang a wet swimsuit or clothes, although some other balconies had this.

The bathroom is also not very practical, especially for women – almost no space for toiletries. Even a small shelf under the sink would help. On the positive side, the water pressure is excellent.

Our biggest disappointment was the arrival. We arrived very early after being awake for almost 24 hours and were exhausted. I had emailed the hotel beforehand (I wrote in English and got a reply in Spanish 😃). We were told early check-in was possible for an extra fee, which we accepted, but no rooms were ready.

We waited one hour… two… three… 😩 I was feeling unwell and needed to lie down, while groups arriving after us seemed to get rooms immediately. Nobody could properly explain why. The lack of communication was very frustrating and really spoiled our first impression.

Food: Amazing at first, but after 10+ days quite repetitive. Breakfast was almost the same every day – mainly eggs, sandwiches and sometimes pancakes. By the end, I never wanted to see another egg. 😂 Dinner was tasty, but often very oily. There were few lighter options such as porridge or simply cooked food. Food was not always refilled on time either, especially later in the morning. We also noticed that this depended a lot on the staff shift – some teams were excellent, others much less organised.

Rooms are cleaned every day. Sometimes better, sometimes not, but it didn’t bother us.

The pool view is probably the nicest. There is music from around 10:00–20:00, but it didn’t disturb us.

The staff were lovely – friendly and helpful both at reception and in the restaurant. ❤️

If you come mainly for the beach, be prepared for quite a long walk and LOTS of stairs. In very hot weather this is tiring. Sun loungers cost €20 for two people.

Torremolinos and this hotel seem particularly popular with the LGBT community, so just something to be aware of.

Parking is also a big problem if you have a car.

So, did we regret staying here? Definitely not. Would we recommend it? Yes, if noise doesn’t bother you. 😃

I had to use earplugs at night, but overall we had a good holiday and were happy we came here. ❤️

Our notes good and bad

Pros •Refrigerator in room •Good breakfast options •Location closer to town centre
•Pool bar and roof top bar (great view) •Late check out 12pm •Pool water feels clean with a nice area with clean loungers. •Good size room •24 hour reception

Cons •Watered down soap •Dirty balcony •Doesn’t have entertainment as advertised plays non copyright music from 10am onwards except for 2 hours during weekend people come in to sing or DJ from 1 -3pm, •Smell of cannabis from the Balcony •Rooms not as modern as advertised •Two single beds push together, not very comfortable

Just to note You can pay 20 euro for a later checkout @ 14:00 for 20 euro. However, only so many offered so if want to use this service I’d recommend saying it when you check in. The spots were taken by the time we asked!

Overall we had a great time a few wobbles here and there but we had a lovely holiday here.

Exceeded expectations

I must say we were quite wary about booking this hotel due to all of the reviews but it was amazing, our room was clean and very spacious with a sea view although the balcony was a little small the veiw made up for it! The cleaners came every day and the room was always clean and towels and toilet roll was always there. The hotel itself was also very clean. It also included aircon in our room which was a pleasant surprise and it was very good you could even have the balcony door open and it still worked.

The breakfast options were amazing and always fresh and the dining room itself was perfect and very modern.

The only downside to this hotel is the sunbed situation, there is not enough sunbeds for everyone in the hotel and you have to queue up from 9am to run to grab one, they have cabanas which you have to pay for and we did one day and they were very nice, it’s just a shame they take up space where more sunbeds could be. The pool itself was very good and the sun was always on it, the Saxophone player and DJ were great and added the atmosphere the pool needed. The cocktails and food was great by the pool too and service was good.

It’s just a short walk to the plaza square with shops and everything, my only thing is if your quite a young group Belemdena has more to offer - we went there 5 nights as there is more bars and nightlife but it is only a short uber journey!

Amazing hotel and amazing staff
