For the first time in 20 years, a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice winner has completely misled us in our choice of hotel.
Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach is tired and worn, giving the clear impression that its owners are charging premium prices for an outdated product. The food is comparable to what you would expect on a budget cruise ship.
Around half of the staff are genuinely friendly, but that seems to be due to their individual personalities rather than the result of strong service standards, or quality management within the Iberostar brand.
Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach does not deserve its four-star rating. On a good day, it might deserve three.
We will never stay at an Iberostar hotel again.
Recommended stay from start to finish! The location is perfect—peaceful, beautiful, and just a short walk from Puerto Banús. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and attentive throughout. A special mention goes to the breakfast variety of food selection.
We stayed at Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach for a girls weekend and had a really lovely experience.
The location was ideal for us, as it is close to both Puente Romano and Puerto Banus. the room was quite big so it was really comfortable, and all the staff we met were soo friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was probably our favourite part of the stay. There was a lot to choose from, the fresh avocados were amazing, and we also really appreciated the late breakfast option after going out the night before hehe :)
Overall, we had a great stay and would happily come back :))
Home a few days after an amazing stay at this hotel. From the moment we walked in till we left the staff were fantastic and I mean all the staff. We had one of the penthouse rooms which was great and would recommend it to everyone. We also were all inclusive the food in the buffet restaurant was great and the snack bar was fab too.We wven had massages that where brilliant and the beach club was super we went there twice. Infact we enjoyed it that much we are booked for next year again.
We checked in to this hotel yesterday. Our experience so far is a bit disappointing, especially considering this is an Iberostar hotel with great reviews.
We booked the Junior suite with pool view. The suite itself was spacious, but the balcony was extremely small and closed off more like an alcove with a tiny window that made it so you couldn’t really sit in the balcony and enjoy the view. What made this even more disappointing was that we had paid for a Junior Suite with a terrace, yet other guests who had booked the same room category had significantly larger balconies and much better views. We brought this up with the staff, but they showed little concern and made no effort to address the inconsistency or explain the difference.
When we asked whether there was any way to improve the situation, such as moving us or offering an upgrade, we were told that all the rooms in the same category were fully booked and we would have to pay extra for an upgrade. They offered a 30% discount on the upgrade.
The website should definitely have these rooms with an obstructed view in a different category at a lower price.
At check-in, we were assured that our suite and our children’s room would be located in the same area. Unfortunately, they were assigned in completely different parts of the hotel. When we raised the issue, the staff did not seem to acknowledge that this was different from what had been promised and showed very little willingness to resolve it.
We also received conflicting information about the pool facilities. We were told the pool would remain open after 7:00 p.m. and that towels would be available at a designated location. When we went there, there were no towels, and after walking back to reception, we were simply told that the towel service had already closed. Clear and consistent communication would have avoided this inconvenience.
While the property has potential, the inconsistencies have affected our experience. We expected more from an Iberostar hotel with such high reviews.
