Macdonald Villacana Club

Lovely, clean apartment with nice facilities but not the most family friendly. We booked a week’s stay with our 1 year old. When we arrived we were allocated a room on the second floor. No lift, two very steep, narrow sets of stairs where we had to carry our baby and his pram up every day. There were no concierge or help carrying all of our luggage on arrival. With a baby, this was difficult. I requested a cot when booking but wasn’t given one. Luckily we decided to take our travel cot with us or we would have been without. I also requested a high chair but was told we had to pay a hire fee? We have stayed in many hotels before and never been asked to pay for baby items. When we got to our room, the room key was broken. We had to do several trips back and forth to reception (quite a walk) and they couldn’t resolve it that evening. It meant we had to stay in our room until morning and even then, it wasn’t fixed until closer to lunch time. Not really much of an apology for all the inconvenience and all the back and forth trips to reception. The pools are nice and clean and there is a lovely restaurant on site. The food is lovely. Short walk down to the beach and there is a small convenience shop so you can stock up on water etc. They also sell freshly baked pastries for breakfast. Would recommend if travelling without young children. Probably wouldn’t go back unless we were guaranteed a ground floor room as it made getting in and out of the room very difficult and time consuming.

Just returned from a week’s break away with my mam (70s). This self-catering resort was ideal for us. Spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean apartment. Best bonus is the outdoor solarium terrace with sun loungers, dining, and BBQ option. Provision of pool towels, dishwasher, and additional cleaning items (variety of detergents), helped also. The reception staff are so friendly professional, and approachable for anything you need. The onsite shop has basics and is not overly expensive (and the owner Lisa is a character!) Lidl is not too far, about 20min walk other side, over the motorway. There are a few little restaurants/bars locally, ideal for a quiet holiday. The onsite bar Kai is a great spot for lovely local beers/wines etc., snacks, and a delicious restaurant menu for lunch and dinner (wonderful fresh grilled fish). Fransisco and his team are so professional at their job, and always smiling and welcoming. Warm friendly greetings every day from all bar and kitchen staff. The grounds/gardens/pool areas are beautiful and immaculate. An abundance of sun loungers. I loved that it's so safe too - you need your hotel key card to access large pool area. Entertainment hadn't really started yet, but would be nice to have a little low-key music in bar area. Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing, quality holiday in Macdonald Villacana and will definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you!
