- Sunset Beach Club

This exceptional resort boasts a magnificent location in Benalmádena right on the water's edge, and just a short taxi ride to Benalmadena Marina. The resort's convenient location means the villages of Mijas and Fuengirola are not far away with tennis and golf clubs, as well as a casino nearby. Moreover, Malaga international airport is a mere 20 minutes’ ride. Visitors may love to relax by the side of the outdoor swimming pool, sunbathing or resting under the shadow of an umbrella. After a full day of sightseeing, sporting action or playing on the beach, guests can unwind in the comfortable rooms, which are perfectly equipped with all the essential amenities needed for a pleasant stay.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Just back from our week stay at sunset beach club (25th June - 2nd July) and we are already planning our trip back next year!
We went as a family of 5 (myself, my partner, 7 year old, 3 year old and 11 month old) and we absolutely could not fault the hotel. It is so catered towards families and children. Brilliant entertainment daily at the pool and then during the mini disco at night. My children loved guessing what character would be coming to the mini disco that night. Breakfast was always nice and we always found something the children would eat. Great amenities - supermarket, souvenir shop, doctor etc. As others have mentioned yes they are a bit more pricey but extremely convenient if you are in need of something. There is a larger supermarket across the road that you can go to if you feel you need to. We bought water and some fruit to keep in our room.
All the staff were lovely, polite and attentive. They were all SO good with our children.
I’ve read a lot about sunbeds and yes they fill fast in the “prime spots” but we always managed to get 4 when we went down around 10:30. A booking system would maybe be a good thing to implement in the future but as I say, it really isn’t that deep and we always managed to find a spot to sit!
The ice cream/starbucks stand is great. The most lovely staff working there. The little snack place beside the pool is quite expensive but then again, you are paying for the convenience of not having to leave the pool area and gives a good amount of shade!
The only con we found was the lifts! We were 14th floor and in the morning/dinner time and checking out was a bit of a nightmare. Could easily be standing for a good 10 minutes trying to get a lift that wasn’t full already (especially as we had the 5 of us to fit in!) The WiFi can be a bit spotty aswell but that’s not a major issue.
Yes the marina is a good walk away, but it’s a 5 minute bus ride and cost us €4.80 for a family of 5 to go. Worth the trip in my opinion and if you have children that get tired walking the bus is so easy. Comes every 10/15 mins. I quite liked that the hotel was further away from all the hustle and bustle of the marina etc.
I’d recommend this hotel to literally any family that asked. 10/10!
I just wanted to write a quick review on 10 day holiday with my family. Location- hotel was facing a supermarket so you could buy some items if needed. There was also A supermarket onsite a little bit more expensive but had everything. We had a great view facing the sea but other rooms were facing roads . It was a good walk to the marina along the cost where you could have a nice selection of restaurants. Atmosphere- the days at the pool were ok some days had pool party’s some days were quiet. The kids clubs were ok some different activities but kids met friends there and enjoyed it. Entertainment at night was good but the moonlight bar was terrible for drinks. Poor selection of only Guinness and Heineken on draught. Some bottle beers but all cost over 7 euros . Bar did not serve cocktails. The bar On the 6th floor was same prices but this bar had limited cocktails these were 10 euros. The same goes for the bar at the pool. I felt that a hotel in this area should serve local beer this would keep Customers onsite and people would eat at the hotel. Food was nice but was expensive. Be aware of the lift situation. I would have been better off renting a lift for 10 days as the I spent more time in or waiting on a lift than in my room. The staff were friendly and would gladly help with any requests. Overall the hotel but Was nice but way too costly to spend time in the hotel with costs of food and drink.
While I wouldn’t return the way things are now maybe in the future if costs were to reduce for food and drink and a better variety was available . I would though about as staff and hotel views were nice
Review based on our personal experience having just returned from a week there. We are a family of 3, 2 adults and a teenager. Whilst we had a good time, we wouldn’t return or particularly recommend this hotel.
Pros
The hotel concept is good. The supermarket is handy however it is overpriced. Lidl is a 5-10 minute walk down the road where items are substantially cheaper with more choice. We didn’t try other supermarkets however there were a few locally.
Views - Views from our room were lovely.
Location - Excellent. Great transport links also.
Cons
The hotel was just SO busy.
Noise - A very noisy hotel. We wore ear plugs at night as you can hear everything inside and outside. We were on the 5th floor which is the same floor as the entertainment. Whilst we were further down the corridor to this, the rooms opposite would be a truly miserable experience to stay in as the noise goes on until late.
Lifts - An absolute nightmare. Painfully slow, always full. Nowhere near good enough to meet the capacity of the guests. You could easily be waiting a good 10-20 minutes. We were floor 5 so walked up and down however at 7 months pregnant it wasn’t ideal.
Breakfast - We were b and b. Breakfast was poor. Lukewarm limited selection of “hot” items. Other items were mostly cakes/biscuits/croissants. Some fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, but very basic. Coffee never quite hot enough and a different measure every time you use the machine. At £88 per person, in hindsight, we should’ve gone self catering and prepared our own breakfasts. As most places, the earlier the better for this experience. After 930/10 it was heaving.
Panarama bar - Chaotic, very busy and very noisy, not a place for those looking for somewhere chilled to relax. Also very overpriced - €15 euros for 2 CANS of Kopparburg - and yes, we were literally given the cans and a glass. We could’ve/should've gone over the road for the same at a fraction of the cost.
Pools - Both pools are incredibly deep after the halfway point in each. My partner is 6 foot 1 and he couldn’t touch the floor after the half way point. This means that people just congregate in the shallower side, with the deep side empty. It really doesn’t make any sense. The only inflatables allowed are tiny rubber rings that they measure, and balls/games aren’t allowed.
The bigger of the 2 pools never appeared very clean, it always bits floating about on top.
Rooms - Rooms are “ok.” A little dated. Our shower leaked every time it was used which was annoying. Our beds were incredibly uncomfortable and so noisy - creaking and squeaking with every toss and turn. They were like camp beds. Also they weren’t made on our first night, so we just had duvets without the covers (we arrived late). The fridge wasn’t turned on when we arrived which was also annoying as we have to wait 24 hours for it to get cold enough to use. The air con leaked aswell.
Quite a balanced review and personal to how we feel.
So, the hotel is a beautiful hotel and immaculately clean. Staff are also fabulous and work incredibly hard!
However, definitely not the hotel for us during peak periods due to the busyness and the incredibly high noise levels. We stayed 25/6-5/7.
We have stayed here before (New Year time) and loved it. I also did my research and absolutely knew it would be noisier during the day in summer time which we’re ok with and love seeing all the activity but we were not prepared for the evening noise!
We booked and stayed in a deluxe junior suite.
So, firstly I’m not a “holier than though”person and I’m also fully aware we were in a hotel and not a private villa however, we contacted the hotel a few times to ask for a quieter room as our daughter is Asperger’s /autistic and has heightened noise sensitivity. We were placed in a room on the 11th floor which was originally a good start - not immediately beside the lifts as requested however, as the hotel got busier at the start of July, as we were placed in a room in the middle of the corridor, this meant people were constantly passing our room to go to the lifts as well as constantly passing our room coming back from the lifts. We couldn’t be bothered asking for a different room as we were half way through our holiday at that point. The late evenings and the early mornings were particularly challenging with noise levels as there was a constant stream of people passing the room door chatting very loudly (as they were pretty much always drunk) - again folks are on holiday and this is ok! But they were incredibly noisy as well as allowing their kids to run riot up and down the corridors, never being challenged by parents over their noise levels as well as people constantly slamming their room doors rather than just closing their doors and the noise just echoed up and down the corridor. Also, like other reviews here, lots of constant doorbell ringing!
The lifts are crazy mental at times where there is just no courtesy given by other guests (normally not from the UK or Ireland) with them just pushing past to get to the lifts before you.
We also booked the hotel partly for the kids club as they provide an older kids club and our child, who is 12, is very sociable however were sorely disappointed with the selection of activities available in the older kids club as it’s very much geared towards boys than girls. Fully appreciate that girls also play football, dodgeball, FIFA challenge, Mario Kart, darts, pool etc…… but really, not the majority of girls do! There was absolutely zero activities geared towards girls. Our daughter, who’s 12, turned up enthusiastically to a few activities but it was just groups of all boys and no girls so unfortunately, she eventually ended up not going to anything in the kids club :(
And yes, the sunbed situation is crazy lol I would say the hotel has definitely addressed the lack of beds by providing more beds but as the space available is still the space available that the hotel has, there are beds everywhere with A LOT of really inconsiderate people bunching beds together to the point you can’t get past and it’s like a slalom trying to get through the beds. So, you should get a bed but you’ll be very squashed up! Also there are people queuing for a bed from as early as 7.30am! - not a holiday in my opinion as the gates don’t open until 9am lol. A little tip if you read this…….. make your way up to the back corner area (beside scuba club) as there a bit more room up there sshhhhhhhh 😂 There’s LOADS of daytime activity going on at the pool areas during the day every day - mostly geared around younger kids (max age 8 or 9?) and for adults. It can be very very noisy so be aware of this. It’s all great fun though for those taking part. Night time entertainment was fantastic though! Some great entertainers!
If you’re all good with an incredibly noisy hotel, love a good drink until the very early hours and are happy to allow your kids to run riot and your kids are under say the age of 9, or you have an older child who’s a boy, this is the hotel for you. Lost one point for the night time and very early morning noise from other guests and one point for the older kids club situation for us :(
All in all, a beautiful hotel but definitely not for us in peak time.
Went here in June 2026 as a family. Kids loved the pool, supermarket was brilliant and so handy. Food was great in the tikki bar and La Terraza Restaurant. Rooms were very clean and checked daily. Location wasn't great, long walk to main shops, bars and restaurants. But our holiday was ruined when my handbag and belongings were stolen from our table at the hotel Panorama Bar (6th Floor). I reported to security and front desk but nothing was done. I was given the wrong address for the police station the following day. I have since tried to contact the hotel by email for a follow up if this incident has been investigated but they have not responded to me. Very disappointing end to family holiday.
