- Medplaya Hotel Bali

This hotel in the holiday resort of Benalmádena lies some 250 m from the sprawling, wide sandy beach and 1 km from the centre. A bus stop is located within just metres of the hotel, while scores of bars and pubs lie a short distance away, shops and restaurants as well as a nightclub are to be found in the centre of the town a mere 200 m to 400 m from the establishment. Surrounded by lush gardens, this elegant hotel is a perfect option for all those who wish to escape from hustle and bustle of the city life. The rooms are ample and well-equipped to provide a peaceful ambience in which to kick back at the end of the day. Guests may take advantage of the 2 swimming pools with integrated children's pool, bar, parasols and sun loungers. The in-house solarium is available for use by hotel guests. Sports enthusiasts may find leisure facilities in the vicinity of the establishment. The hotel runs a seasonal entertainment programme.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We keep coming back to this hotel year after year. Its literally in the middle of everything!
Rooms - we stayed in room 3005, right on the bottom floor. It was safer due to having 3 small children we could just let out on the balcony. There was no view, but safety comes before a sea view for us & the children being able to play out made it worth it. We had a small issue with our room the first few days.. however we reported it & it was sorted the next morning so cant complain at that at all! What i will say is the cleaning team are fanatastic! They are there every morning & there was one time we needed some clean towels so found a lady in the corridor & she couldnt have been more helpful!
Entertainment - the entertainment around the pool was amazing. My children absolutely loved it! They went round and made sure every single person was involved. The night time shows were good too. My children loved the disco & then the shows at night. My daughters favourite was the magic show!
Food - we only went bed and breakfast however there was something for everybody! My youngest loved the fresh fruit, my oldest 2 took full advantage of the pancake and nutella station!
We would definatley come again, it was our 4th visit this year & hopefully more to come. We had a small issue & it was sorted promptly! Its very clean & the area itself is really good. Its in the middle of everywhere. Down the steep hill you have the beach and a short walk to the marina, up is a lovely place called the square. Thankyou for a lovely stay and looking after us all! Hopefully be back next year!
If you’re looking for a cheap n cheerful hotel in a good central location then the Bali delivers.
Don’t expect a huge selection at meal times or the option of a la carte dinning when staying on an AI basis, this is a three star remember.
Food in general I found to be fine. Although we did eat out on a few occasions, we certainly never went hungry on the days we decided to stay put.
Drinks were of a good standard ie San Miguel on tap, Bombay Sapphire gin, original Malibu, Baileys etc I would say don’t bother with the cocktails though as these were awful in my opinion.
Couldn’t fault the cleanliness or size of room. The sea view was a bonus and I was glad my teenage daughter and I were allocated a room in block one as this block housed the main restaurant and bar plus the pool at this block was way quieter than the others which suited us just fine.
The major let down for me, which has been said many times before, is the uncomfortable sun beds, plus many looked grubby. I’d also add that the plastic tables around the pool are also grubby and never seem to get cleaned after the pool closes, they are simply moved to the nighttime entertainment area, not very appealing. I witnessed someone spill a hot chocolate on the steps leading to the bar and this was never cleaned up, it’s probably still not been cleaned. These are issues that could be easily fixed.
Would I return?..For a cheap cheeky extra hol then probably yes but I certainly wouldn’t return for one of my main holidays.
overall i believe the hotel was full of friendly staff and people however i think even though rooms are cleaned daily more work should be done in the bathrooms and needs to be updated with the modern bedroom style there was grime all over the walls in cracks and shower is small other then that the room is lovely with great ac and comftableness lastly investments should me made in new sunbeds to suit the current modern theme as they are dirty, uncomfortable, broken and quite outdated other then that food is amazing and great experience with entertainment and pool areas
Medplaya Bali Hotel Av.de la Telefonica is a superb hotel in Benalmádena and this is a hotel we have stayed in many time's over the year's.It's a large hotel thats got a nice reception area were we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. There's two swimming pools and there's an arrey of bar's (at least three) and the room we stayed in (1319) was spacious and clean with a well main-tained bath-room.We were half-board and the meals were really good and varied. The staff in this brilliant hotel were friendly and attentive and a credit to this fine hotel and made our stay a nice experience. All in all a superb hotel in a superb area and it's a hotel we will stay in again.(This is my third review of the Medplaya Hotel Bali).
Don't be put off by some of the negative reviews – we had a really lovely family holiday here.
It's important to remember that this is a 3-star hotel, and if you go with realistic expectations, it's great value for money. The rooms, reception, and restaurant were all spotless and very well maintained. The bathrooms are a little dated, but they were always clean, which is much more important to us.
The pool areas were lovely and never felt overcrowded, although the sunbeds could definitely do with being replaced as many are looking quite worn.
A special mention to the entertainment team, who worked incredibly hard every day and did a fantastic job keeping everyone entertained. Their enthusiasm really added to the holiday.
The food was good. Yes, it can be a little repetitive over the course of the week, but there was always plenty of choice, and even our very fussy family always found something they enjoyed at every meal.
The walk back to the hotel is up a fairly steep hill, but it's only a short one, so we didn't find it to be a problem.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. If you're expecting a luxury 5-star experience, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a clean, friendly hotel with good food, hardworking staff, and a great base for a holiday, then we'd definitely recommend it.
