This hotel in the holiday resort of Benalmádena lies some 250 m from the sprawling, wide sandy beach and 1 km from the centre. A bus stop is located within just metres of the hotel, while scores of bars and pubs lie a short distance away, shops and restaurants as well as a nightclub are to be found in the centre of the town a mere 200 m to 400 m from the establishment. Surrounded by lush gardens, this elegant hotel is a perfect option for all those who wish to escape from hustle and bustle of the city life. The rooms are ample and well-equipped to provide a peaceful ambience in which to kick back at the end of the day. Guests may take advantage of the 2 swimming pools with integrated children's pool, bar, parasols and sun loungers. The in-house solarium is available for use by hotel guests. Sports enthusiasts may find leisure facilities in the vicinity of the establishment. The hotel runs a seasonal entertainment programme.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Great family hotel. We visited as a family in July (three generations.). If you want a quiet holiday this is not the place for you- the hotel is full of families and the noise level is high, however the children had an amazing holiday. The entertainment staff work tirelessly to give all the children a great time with lots of activities going on throughout the day. The nighttime entertainment is more for the children than the adults. The hotel rooms are basic but are kept very clean. The housekeeping staff work very hard. Bear in mind that most rooms don’t have a kettle although you can hire one from reception. The restaurant is very clean and there was a lot of choice as they cater for all tastes. The all inclusive option includes house wines, sangria, san Miguel and named spirits. There is also an all inclusive room where you can get snacks throughout the day. There are three pools (which are always full of children.) I agree with previous reviews that the sun beds need replaced. You can’t alter the back of them so it’s impossible to sit up and read a book. There is however a great beach five minutes walk away where you can hire a sunbed and parasol for 8 euros a day. The hotel location is great. There is a bus stop five minutes away with buses regularly going up and down tne coast. The beautiful marina is a 15 minute walk and well worth a visit with lots of shops and restaurants. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill but it’s not huge. Overall we had a really great family holiday and would really recommend this hotel. Thank you to all the staff for working so hard to make our stay great.
We have just spent a week at MedPlaya Hotel Bali and overall we had a lovely holiday.
Everyone we spoke to was friendly, helpful and worked incredibly hard. The hotel was always busy.
The pools were great although small for the amount of people and there was plenty to keep children entertained throughout the day. The evening entertainment was enjoyable and there was a good atmosphere around the hotel.
The food offered a good variety and we always found something to eat. The location is excellent, with shops, restaurants and the beach all within walking distance, although be aware there is quite a steep hill on the way back to the hotel which was tough in the heat we have had!
Our room was comfortable, spacious and fresh towels provided daily if requested. However, we often found that the bed sheets still felt sandy after the room had been made up, so it would have been nice if the bedding had been changed more frequently after beach days.
The hotel is a little dated in places and could benefit from some refurbishment. The restaurant and bar areas are modern and nicely presented, but the corridors and some of the communal areas are looking tired and would benefit from being updated.
The all-inclusive snack bar was a little disappointing. On several occasions it was left untidy, tables weren’t always cleared promptly, and food wasn’t topped up very often, which meant the choice could be quite limited between meal times.
The hotel was extremely busy during our stay, so the pool area could get crowded and sunbeds were in high demand. We were also visiting during a heatwave, so it was exceptionally hot, although that’s obviously outside the hotel’s control.
Overall, we had an enjoyable stay. The hardworking staff, good location and family-friendly atmosphere outweighed the negatives, and with a few improvements to the communal areas and snack service, this could easily be an even better hotel.
Hotel Bali has had a recent renovation, rooms & bar/restaurant spaces look fresh & clean. This is certainly one of the better 3 star family hotels around. Its in a great location, the staff are friendly, it has 4 pools in total (1 pool being 2.25m deep) the food is generally decent with good variation for dinners. An example of some of the evening buffet throughout the week…a roast dinner option with yorkshire puddings, chicken kebabs, various curries like thai red chicken, chicken satay & masalas, fish & chips. All inclusive guests have a selection of alcoholic drinks from 8 x cockatails, various mixes & San Miguel on tap. I would definitely re-book to stay here, its a stones through from the local beach & nightlife.
Hotel was clean, well looked after, food excellent. On the whole, all staff very pleasant and helpful. However, there was a general lack of information for All Inclusive guests, egs, in no particular order: No list available of AI cocktails (and when I asked what cocktails were available for AI guests, the response was "what do you want?"...not helpful at all. Can't have coffee other than in a small cardboard cup from the snack bar outside of breakfast.. All drinks served in plastic even if sat in the bar Not told if ice cream included or not (outside of that in the restaurant at dinner and lunch) Beach towels not provided Only found out the day before leaving about the designated area in dining room for AI guests so didn't have to queue at bar for drinks, they were on tap! How were we to know? Finally. PLEASE invest in new sunbeds.
The hotel on arrival looked very clean and check in was very prompt and the gentleman who checked us in very polite
Took a lift up to our floor 4th floor and found our room along quite a dark and dingy looking corridor
The room itself was clean and our balcony overlooked the two pools with a nice view of the sea in the distance
The main pool below us was very busy as it would seem that is where all the water games were being held by the entertainment team, so sitting on the balcony trying to relax and read a book was not possilble when these games were going on due to all the shouting and screams coming from the entertainment team and guests, but to fair they did not go on for too long and nice to keep the younger guests entertained.
I preferred to use the other pool on 2nd level as much quieter and not so many inflatables to avoid.
Sunbeds were not an issue in getting them but they have seen better days and could do with a good clean same as with what were white chairs near the outdoor entertainment stage. Tables were never cleaned either
The hotel is on a hill known locally as cardiac hill so not suitable for anyone with mobiility issues and it was a drag walking up and down to the strip or up to the square every day and the paving is not the best either, can be quite slippery. So if you are less mobile you may need to consider this; notice some guests had hired mobility scooters
The restaurant is what really lets this hotel down, children and adults handing food without the tongs provided, picking up food such as bread before deciding they didnt want it and putting it back in basket, walking round eating food of plates with their fingers before going to another food station to handle yet more food
My main concern were the number of small children allowed to carry plates/glasses around the restaurant which is a safety hazard and sure enough every mealtime we were in there you would hear the breakage of said plates/glasses
I know this is not the fault of the hotel but think this issue needs to be policed with parents reminded to look after their children in the restaurant and not allow them to run around especially where there is hot food around.
Benalmadena is lovely especially the mariina area and I would return but would choose a hotel closer to the strip or beach with easier access to the resorts shops/restaurants and bars.
