Holiday World Polynesia, Affiliated by Meliá

Stayed for week from 11th Oct. 3adults and a 2 year old. Pros- weather was lovely, kids entertainment very good, rooms spacious even if but dated. Cons- absolutely disgraceful adults smoking and vaping everywhere indoors and outdoors ,at the snack bar and even at kids mini disco! We couldn't find a single smoke/vape free area in the whole week. No attempt by hotel management to address this or inform guests about any restrictions. Saw people leaning against walls smoking next to no smoking signs and had to ask people who were vaping right next to us at reception area to move away from our toddler. The hot food was very poor and choices for children limited. There was pizza on only occasionally. Soup, salad and dessert were good. The furniture in the bar area was broken, stained and soiled. The dining room from Friday lunch through to our last meal on Saturday evening was bedlam. The hotel were hosting groups of children and young adults 150+ and they all arrived at dining room at same time. The queues for the buffet were 30+ deep and the noise unbearable. Had to leave without a proper meal. Then on the final day we were picked up at 7.45 , the dining room didn't open till 8am . We asked if a breakfast would be available, told to order a packed lunch and pick up night before, no hot drinks or fresh food available before we left. This holiday was expensive as we had to pay full adult price for the 2year old and the prices for this week are higher as it's the school holidays. It was an absolute waste of money and the most unpleasant experience in a hotel we have had in more than 40 years travelling. I have complained to TUI about this too. I generally don't complain or leave reviews

Went October 26 family of four with 2 kids aged 10 and 8. First impression was brilliant, arrived late in the evening (Ryanair fault) but check on still friendly. Got to our room and they had made plates of food up for us. Room itself was good, good size with lots of storage, fridge freezer and kitchen for self catering (we were all inc) . Room could do with a couple of bits of attention (dodgy sliding doors) but overall clean and well presented. The hotel itself is incredible, felt like Las Vagas in terms of scale, the massive pond with Coy Carp, waterfalls, turtles and bird enclosures were highlights for the kids for sure! Hotel pool was big and loads of loungers, pool bottom needed a bit of a clean but the water itself was crystal clear. Food was fresh and plentiful, loads of choice even for fussy kids! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Location was not bad, nice gated and secure community. There was a steep hill to get out but they had a free bus running all day so no complaints! We had access to the beach club which the kids loved and we spent 2 full days there. . Again couple of bits could do with refurb but overall clean and nice place to be. The beach itself is less than a mile away and with lots of space and lots of cafe/restaurants, lovely sand and loads to do, including play parks and outdoor gyms! Overall we loved this hotel and location, we normally go to Spanish islanda like Majorca but would come back for sure

First time at the hotel and mostly found everything to be very decent. Room 321 was a junior suite which was in general very comfortable. Only negatives were that the TV didn't work with most channels coming up saying no signal. Also some mornings there was no hot water in the shower. The hotel was always noisy with screaming children but I survived this and kind of knew what to expect before I arrived. One other issue was that crisps I bought from the bar were a month out of date.
