Great hotel with lots to do. Waterpark down the bottom of the hill is exceptional. There is a shuttle bus that runs you up and down which is handy but it is walkable. If you’re a family of five like we were you best option to get into the town is uber as some taxis won’t take five. Rooms were cleaned well and staff were very helpful and pleasant. Entertainment is a bit difficult to find. Food is good but can be a bit of the same at times. Swimming pool is good, sometimes you can’t get a pool chair but mostly you can. Overall a really great hotel and water park and would stay here again
Where do i begin ? Please read all my review folks ! Let's start with the rock hard beds !! So hard that is no joke we had to ask for mattress toppers which made them 10x better ! How they cannot just put them on all the beds is beyond me, also my bed was wonky and moving very badly had to also report this. The staff are not helpful at all when you arrive they hardly give you any details about the hotels at all and most of it online is in spanish. They dont tell you that you can go to other hotels and watch entertainment and eat and drink there. The food in riwo is absolutely rubbish there is not enough stuff for kids to eat and its the same stuff every night look at other reviews everyone will say the same , the Polynesian and village hotels food is 10x better and more of a selection. Entertainment is poor at riwo and again best to go to Polynesian and village hotels for entertainment. The advertising for this hotel is totally wrong I would avoid at all costs and £3.5k for a family of 3 at this hotel is an absolute rip off , I would highly recommend everyone not to go here its not what its made out to be. Reception staff are very ignorant and if you look at other reviews others have said the same. Rooms are very dated and there was a sewage smell coming from bathroom for days which we had to report. Drinks are very watered down and dont get you tipsy. You have to pay for extras at bar also. By far worst all inclusive hotel around no joke
We booked this over a year ago and at the time we believe there was some good reviews, but our first 24 hours here made us realise that things have seriously gone downhill. There weren’t many positives so let me list some of the negative. We do stay in only four star hotels so this should’ve been comparable across the globe, but I would say this was closer to a three star.
In no particular order….
There is zero air-conditioning anywhere except for your bedroom so it’s incredibly hot everywhere.
The choice of food at breakfast lunch and dinner was appalling. There was so a few options, half of it was cold and you have to queue to get into the restaurant.
We also found ants calling over many of the dishes that were left out in the restroom which put us off, not good when there’s only a handful of options to choose from and it’s all the same pretty much every day and night.
I’ve never seen this before. You have to pay to change your towels. If on day one you get a bit hot and sweaty, unless you’re willing to pay, you’re keeping your beach down for the rest of the week.
I know I’m not a major point, but I like to go to the Gym in the morning before breakfast. That didn’t work because the gym doesn’t open till 11 o’clock.
Food in the restaurant is not very good for children. There is no children’s section and unless your kids are quite happy eating curried lentils, good luck getting them to have any vegetables all week because they’re very little they will actually eat. No chicken nuggets, no pizza. No peas, nothing that a child would eat normally.
There isn’t much around the hotel within walking distance, but it isn’t too far from the local town Centre if you’re willing to do a half an hour walk or get a taxi
Pool area I could really do with a clean, as for the bedrooms they’re incredibly dated, yes they’re clean but they are very dated. Again, not what I’ll expect from a four star maybe a three.
Overall, I’m very disappointed. We paid a lot of money for this and it’s only now that we’ve got here and I’m looking back over the reviews for the last few months thatI’m seeing some poor one reviews and realising gosh that’s exactly my experience.
I’ve never criticise the hotel before, and I’m more than happy to stay in a four-star hotel, but this in my opinion as well below par. I’m just writing this so that others can be aware of what it’s like.
Big shoutout for the excellent service provided by the restaurant staff in the hotel. They have looked after us especially well over the two weeks of our stay. Especially Johana Heding and Sara Volente! Cheers ladies!!
The hotel is at the top of a nice big hill, shuttle bus provided in between hours. The water park is old and out dated, needs an overall. RIWO hotel is also out dated, needs a good overall. Rooms very dated, facilities also very tired. Entertainment well, average at best, Michael Jackson appeared so popular at the sister hotel, horrendous, I’m sure my daughter at ten year old could do better. Food also very average, big ques, Luke warm food, drinks in the restaurant are ok. Air con in the hotel anywhere but your room is non existent , very poor, very warm. Th drink token system is horrendous, no one knows the rule, some want the tolens others don’t, basically it’s for recycling they say, so you keep same cups, but on. A night you don’t need we was told, but then told otherwise, using other bars at the sister hotels was also very uncomfortable, thy have diff colour wrist bands so question you, and your band , all done in Spanish obv so you have no idea what they are saying. The hotel does have good views, one plus. Would I stay here again? NO
