Enjoyed a few days here in the sun and the food and ambiance was extremely good. Unfortunatly this was marred on the last 2 nights, at 6 o clock,by a large party of French fire fighters who took over the pools and proceeded to dive,bomb and have fun with no regard to the safety of other users who wanted to enjoy a last swim of the day. one guy jumped in near me and managed to kick me in the eye,knocking off my goggles and causing severe pain,swelling , a black eye and small cut. The lifeguard merely shrugged his shoulders and walked off as he finished at 6,but was still present,and made no attempt to remind the group of the Pool rules and etiquette,clearly displayed, but which should have been common sense for so called Professional people,responsible for preserving and saving life. Simon on reception was very reluctant to remind his fellow French men and woman to be respectful of other guests,and told me that the matter was not that important and couldnt take any further as he hadnt witnessed what had happened,although it would be logged. No first aid assistance was offered,or concern showed,no accident report completed either.A fellow guest who saw the incident brought me some ice. No one from the hotel managment contacted me,so doubtful that was done. A week later the swelling is going down and pain receding but this experience has made me very uncomfortable about the liability and duty of care that should be in place in hotels. I did politely tell Simon I thought he could have handled the situation better,but he was adament the issue had been resolved.On check out,he didnt even acknowlege me,not even " have a good flight " Perhaps some further customer training required to step up to the levels, of all the other excellent staff in this hotel.

Have just returned from 10 day break here and have rebooked for next year. Booking in was excellent and although it was only 1 o'clock our room was ready so we could dump our luggage and go for lunch. Cleanliness was excellent throughout the hotel no complaints there at all. Majority of staff were great at their jobs and always smiling, there were a couple who need a bit more training in hospitality I think. We were always able to get sunbeds round the adult pools although umbrellas being fixed sometimes made getting a bit a shade difficult and the rude people who just decide that the space next to you is adequate for another bed really annoyed me. The tokens for glasses works well I think as it helps keep the area tidy and it really isn't a problem. We are fairly picky eaters but we always found something to eat. We were pleased that the hotel was not in the busy area of Benameldena as that was a little chaotic and overwhelming but an area with a few more shops etc for an evening stroll would be nice. Things that I think need improving are more water refill areas around hotel , size of cups / mugs needs to be bigger, some crackers with the fantastic cheese selection you have would be great. Charging for refills of tea and coffee seems a little strange especially at 50 cents as that is quite a high cost. Nothing really put us off and we are already looking forward to next year.

Booked for AI plus without realising. The only thing you get extra is the à la carte for 1 night in the week, this was better than the rest of the food but nothing extreme. Many imported drinks were chargeable but not expensive. All other food was cold, bland and bad (not only my words), pizza that you could not cut with a knife, dried pasta, bones or fat in most meats, the pork loin was very dry. Don’t ask me where the photo came from on their website of the pasta because the only place you would see that would be either the à la carte or when you pay for it. The Saphir bar only served food when all other options were not open which was poorly described, we asked for something at 11.50pm only to be told it stops at 11.45pm, even the pastries were chargeable for AI guests. No water in your rooms, all chargeable, this was not the same last year apparently either, so I heard. The lunch buffet at the pool/splash bar (I could not make out which was which) was kids food like hamburger, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, cold meat and cheese, salad etc. I was told by returning guests, that rebooked this instantly from returning last year, that this hotel was brilliant last year and you could order food from a menu that was part of the all inclusive but it is now chargeable. Breakfast omelette was made with cheese that I could not tell you what it was, hard and cold eggs, cold scrambled runny eggs, crappy cheap sausages and bacon. Most of the food was cold unless you went to lunch at 1pm and dinner at 7pm. The only imported drinks were Gordon’s gin, Smirnoff vodka or J B Whiskey. The photos are of the bathroom that is not finished off to a good standard. I would not return to this hotel.
