We returned here in June after a couple of years as we loved it the last time we came. Very different experience this time. Had a nosy couple who kept poking their head round our balcony. To which we then complained to them directly and asked them not to and to respect our privacy to then later that evening have the hotel security come up to our room at 11pm asking us not to smoke in our room? And that something had set off the fire alarm downstairs (but not in our room - surely if there was a fire alarm we would have been alerted first?) the security had no idea what he was talking about. Then it clicked. A phone call must of been made. So I offered him in to ask if he could smell smoke. He didn’t want to come into the room. I said even if we were we would on the balcony that’s right there not in the room. I then had to make a complaint to reception who agreed it was madness. And agreed to move us rooms. I was just shocked to be honest. Should have been handled completely differently and properly checked for facts and after offering him to come into the room so he could see and smell for himself. But he knew as you would be able to smell smoke at the door if this was the case so he clearly knew but no apology. The food was awful this time. We had three lots of uncooked chicken to the point we stopped attempting to even get chicken and try it. We also heard other people complaining of uncooked chicken. Both rooms we stayed in were not that clean and things broken and just left. Shower would just flood into the bedroom and we supposedly had an upgraded room. After speaking to another family who had paid £13000 for their 2 week holiday for 8 of them - they seem to have had a really awful time too (they had previously stayed and loved it). The pool rules had changed so even the kids couldn’t have any fun round the pool. I don’t normally leave bad reviews neither do I moan about places (I much rather just stay quiet and never go back) however, I feel anyone who may have stayed here before should be aware of down hill this hotel has gone. So you don’t waste your money or expect it to be as good as the last time you went.
Just left after a fabulous stay at this fantastic hotel in the heart of Benidorm!
The location is great, with the beach just around a 15-minute walk away. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, especially Christina on reception, who was lovely!
The pool is huge and there were plenty of activities going on throughout the day, so there was always something to enjoy.
Breakfast was fantastic, with lots of choice, including made-to-order omelettes and fresh juices. Everything was delicious!
We were also really touched by the lovely dessert and cava provided to celebrate our anniversary and birthday. Such a thoughtful and special touch that we really appreciated.
Overall, we had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend this hotel. The only downside was that our stay was far too short!
We’re already looking forward to coming back!
Spent 8 nights here, All inclusive, with friends in September 2026. Bar staff very very friendly, All inclusive beer (Mahou) and pool area all great. Rooms very tired, toiletries etc only fitted to walls with 1 screw and hanging off. In room safe wasn’t working on arrival, staff attempted to fix but eventually gave up, fortunately we were in a group with 2 rooms so all the cash/passports went in the other safe (which was also broken on arrival but staff did manage to get it working). Food in the restaurant 3 star at very best, more like a works canteen than a restaurant, food ok but more a collection of sides than full meals. Labelling not great for vegetarians/vegans. On departure there was a pre bookable room to get a shower in etc but we weren’t made aware of this until check out so the only time available was 5 hours before our pick up. last day was then spent sitting in reception. All inclusive was still available so not the worst situation to be in. Far better hotels available in Benidorm so will definitely not be back.
Meliá hotel Benidorm August 2026 room 1157 Upon arrival was quite impressed looked lovely at reception and the staff at reception were very nice polite and friendly. Rooms wasn’t ready so we had a look round the pool to say I was disappointed.. there was hardly any sunbeds and the place didn’t look clean having a grass area don’t help either as mud is getting wet from the pool then getting trampled into the pool mixed again with mud on the way out so looks dirty. Next morning goes to get a sunbed to find we are locked in untill 9am then it’s a free for all trying to get a sunbed and some people actually wait at the dinning area and are let out from there and they get an advantage and get beds quicker. Towels are left on the beds best part of the day they don’t seem to get moved!! Last day here I’m sure stag parties have turned up people round the pools drinking cans of larger which are not from the site not that I mind but they leave there mess behind and ladies in the pool by the children’s area drunk and wen we sat next to the we had to move because it actually smelt like one of them had been sick by the beds.. the pool guard is quick enough to tell people to not be on inflatables but don’t seem to watch drunk people in pool especially round children. The food was ok although chip buttys were something we eat the most of if you like fish you’re ok but I don’t eat fish. The rooms are very old fashioned and not that clean they are very dusty and balcony area wasn’t cleaned even before we got here table was all dirty. The thing I can’t fault is the staff they all are absolutely amazing they are friendly helpful and polite they are the only reason I think I put up with this hotel. Will I return?? No. To busy hotel to many young family’s who get very mouthy if u say anything to them.. I don’t come away to have abuse at me me I come to chill out and relax
I stayed at the hotel at the end of August and, overall, had a positive experience. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly.
Unfortunately, this was overshadowed by an issue regarding an expensive watch that my husband accidentally left behind in the room. I have contacted the hotel several times but have been repeatedly passed between departments, cut off, and left without a clear response. I was eventually advised by email that the matter was being investigated with housekeeping, but despite further attempts to follow up, I have received no further communication.
I find this level of customer service very disappointing, particularly from a large hotel group. It is a shame that what was otherwise a pleasant stay has been left with such a negative impression. I hope the hotel will resolve the matter and return the watch promptly, however if fear this is unlikely.
