This is the second visit to this hotel food excellent all staff friendly very clean in all areas of the hotel entertainment was good felt very comfortable and I will definitely be backi would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends was in walking distant to the beach and also the market which we visited got taxi to the old town plenty of shops and tapas bars

Great Food, Lovely Pools, and Fantastic Bar Team Let Down by Terrible Hygiene Standards and Appalling Reception Staff

We recently stayed at the Flamingo Beach Resort. While there were several high points to our holiday—mostly thanks to the wonderful restaurant, bar team, and great facilities—the overall experience was severely ruined by poor housekeeping and extremely rude, hostile reception management.

The Positives: Exceptional Bar & Restaurant Staff, Great Pools, and Comfortable Rooms

The Bar Team: A massive shoutout to Georgi, James, and Sarah! They were absolutely amazing, incredibly helpful, and always happy to chat and bring a smile to our faces. They truly made our stay brighter, and this negative review is in no way a reflection on them—they are an absolute credit to the resort!

• Pools & Sunbathing: The pool areas are fantastic! The pools themselves are very spacious and great for actual swimming, and there were always plenty of sun loungers available without having to fight for space.

• Restaurant & Dining: The restaurant staff were equally welcoming and friendly. The gentleman checking room numbers at the entrance and the servers clearing tables were always attentive and happy to help. The food itself was great, offering a wide variety of choices at a very high standard.

• Self-Service Drinks: Having self-service drinks available at both the poolside and in the restaurant was a huge highlight for us and super convenient throughout the day.

• Rooms: The beds were very comfortable, making for a good night's sleep when conditions allowed.

The Negatives: Housekeeping Neglect, Unsanitary Conditions, and the Cockroach Incident

Unfortunately, the cleanliness and maintenance of the resort fell far below what anyone should expect from a 4-star establishment:

• Housekeeping Failures: The room was not cleaned properly. From our very first night, there were noticeable stains on the toilet that remained completely untouched for the entirety of our stay. Furthermore, despite having our room "cleaned" daily, the bathroom bin was left unemptied for days on end.

• The Cockroach Infestation: When we eventually moved the bathroom bin, we discovered a significant build-up of droppings behind it, proving this was an ongoing, neglected issue behind the bathroom fixtures rather than an isolated incident.

• Late-Night Chemical Spraying: Night security inspected the room at 1:00 AM, confirmed the droppings were from cockroaches, and heavily sprayed chemical pesticides/biocides directly inside our room while we were still inside. They flatly refused an emergency room move, leaving us trapped overnight in a room filled with harsh toxic chemical fumes.

• Dying Pests Emerging: Just 10 minutes after spraying, a dying cockroach crawled out into the room, followed by a second large cockroach two hours later. Trapped in a chemically contaminated room with dying pests, we suffered extreme distress and total sleep deprivation.

• Refusal of Room Change & Inadequate "Clean": The next morning, reception refused to move us, claiming the hotel was fully booked, but promised a comprehensive "deep clean." When we returned, visible droppings were still scattered in the bathroom, proving the room hadn't been properly sanitized until we vehemently protested and forced them to recall the cleaners.

The Worst Part: Appalling Behavior from Receptionist "Poppy"

The absolute low point of our stay was our interaction with a receptionist named Poppy. I have never encountered such a rude, arrogant, and hostile member of staff in any hotel in my life:

• Blaming Guests & Lack of Empathy: When she came to our room, she immediately tried to blame my partner Callum and me for not reporting the issues sooner. As two people who suffer from severe anxiety, we initially hesitated to make a fuss thinking they were just harmless beetles. Rather than showing understanding, Poppy used this to deflect responsibility.

• Zero Accountability & Absurd Excuses: She refused to take any accountability for the cockroach infestation or for the fact that I explicitly begged for a room change. When I pointed out that guests should not be seeing multiple cockroaches in a 4-star hotel, her only response was, "This is a very hot climate." Having stayed in many hot climates around the world without ever finding cockroaches in my room, this was a ridiculous excuse.

• Vile Attitude: At no point did she offer a single apology. Instead, she was combative, defensive, cocky, and condescending.

Final Verdict

While Georgi, James, Sarah, the pool areas, and the restaurant team deserve 5 stars for their service and quality, management desperately needs to address the severe lack of hygiene in the rooms and send Poppy for immediate retraining in basic customer care and human decency. Because of the hygiene issues and her vile attitude, we cannot recommend this resort.

Stopped at flamingo beach resort and had an amazing stay from start to finish! All the staff were so kind and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. The staff helped make it very relaxing atmosphere. Was spotlessly clean and definitely got our moneys worth! The service in the sky bar was amazing with fantastic views of all of Benidorm! Georgi behind the bar was an amazing member of staff and a real credit to the hotel, knew our drink order from the first time was always smiling and joking with us as well. She really did help make our holiday so much better. We will definitely be returning next year. It will definitely be a massive thanks to georgi why we will be returning next year.
