We stayed at one of the hotel’s villas - Villa Albatroz as a family group of 7 people including grandparents and it was amazing. The views from the villa were lovely and pool was fabulous. The villa was within walking distance of some shops and restaurants and a beach. It was a great location for touring around with a hire car too. The villa was so comfortable and had great facilities including a table tennis table in the garage, various places to sit and eat, a garden barbecue, and great coastal views.
The service from the hotel was outstanding- sorting our transfers and car hire, and welcoming us into the villa on arrival. We visited the hotel and swam in the sea pools and were met on arrival by the hotel manager - service was amazing and we were made to feel very welcome.
Thanks to all staff. A lovely stay.
Staying here now. First time away for Christmas and it has lived up to our best expectations. The hotel is small and quiet. The staff are so attentive and nothing is a problem. Our sea view room was everything we needed, the view is incredible, you are literally on the edge of the ocean. Sunrise over the islands is stunning. Breakfast is more than adequate with a choice of hot and continental. The restaurant is of high standard for evening meals. We didn’t do lunch but others did and it looked great. The sea pools are beautiful albeit a little chillily this time of year. The pool on the terrace is heated and we were treated to some incredible sunshine, including Christmas Day where we spent the day swimming and sunbathing. Christmas diner was first class. We were treated to a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates to our room on Christmas Eve and most nights we had a little snack brought to our room when the maids turned down our beds. Funchal within easy access by cab or bolt and Santa Cruz is an easy stroll away. Would highly recommend this as a hidden gem from the hustle and bustle of Funchal.
Gorgeous facilities and beyond friendly and helpful staff. Wish we had more time to enjoy this hotel. Location on the cliffs is incredible, and the ocean pools are beyond belief.
Positives: amazing staff, good food, great location. Salt water pool Is special. Read the other reviews they are real
Negatives: some points I would liked to have known. We stayed a week which is a bit unusual I think. Many treat as airport hotel for which it is amazing.
It is very close to the airport. Air flights are limited but you hear them and smell them.
More significant it is right next to main road around the island. No noise in rooms or restaurant but there is a lot constant sitting by pool.
Walking to Santa Cruz requires 500m along footpath next to motorway.
Pool is heated but only to 24. Jacuzzi and sauna are tepid and old.
Food is good choice and generally very good family restaurant style. But this is not 5 star luxury.
Fantastic hotel with very kindly employees
