Good hotel with great sea views and location
The hotel is in a great location between Funchal (20 minutes walk away) and Lido with beautiful coastal walks. There is also an excellent supermarket 5 minutes away and good bus services. Our room and balcony were on the 9th floor with a spectacular ocean view. The room and bathroom were clean and big enough for the two of us. However, the beds and pillows were too hard and not very comfortable. The buffet breakfast and dinner were good with enough choices although we didn't like their coffee in the restaurant and room. We used the infinity pools every day looking out to the sea which was very special. The staff and cleaners were friendly and we will definitely return.

Great hotel
I was very wary after reading some of the reviews for this hotel I was pleasantly suprised when we arrived the Hotel is kept spotlessly clean outside and in, the reception staff were proffesional and helpful, the room 534 was fab although I admit the furniture a little dated but the room was clean and comfortable plenty of storage, great sized bathroom, balcony with amazing view, the restaraunt staff were very pleasant the food has a fabulous variety always fresh and nothing is too much trouble. The outside pools are kept clean and there are plenty of sunbeds the infinity pools are great there is a lift down to pool levels so its accessible to all the inside pools fab also.The entertainment was hit and miss but the bar and staff were good. I would not hesitate to recommend or return to this hotel.

Vidamar
We spent a lovely week at the end of May at the Vidamar. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Bathroom had a fabulous shower. Staff were fantastic. Food was good. We found something we enjoyed on the buffet every night. We did not have any problem getting a sunbed round the pool. I really enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of buses into Funchal, but it is walkable.

My Madeira 💔
I stayed at the Vida Mar Hotel with a large group of 12 friends. It's an incredibly cool hotel with stunning ocean views. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were cozy, and the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the breakfast with sparkling wine.
The reception staff helped us rent a car. The cars were delivered right to the hotel.
I'd especially like to thank Simona, the guest relations manager. She took into account all our accommodation needs. I was traveling with my sister, who uses a wheelchair. The room was simply amazing and very comfortable. Simona quickly resolved any issues that arose and helped with a late check-out.
I miss you already. See you next year 🤍
Comfort close to Funchal
My wife and I had a glorious 10 days in this lovely hotel. We opted for the superior double with sea view and were really happy that we did as our room was on the 10th (top) floor with a superb view of the Atlantic and down to the gardens and pool areas. The room was very comfortable with a queen sized bed, armchair and settee, mini fridge, TV and air conditioning as well as a supply of tea bags, coffee and milk to accompany the kettle. The bathroom was really good with a powerful walk in shower, his & her sinks and ceiling to floor mirrors on two walls as well as a large one over the sinks. We enjoyed breakfast and evening meals in the Ocean Buffet Restaurant and it was good to see local dishes being served along with other traditional European food. If its pizza, fast food and chips with everything for you then maybe this hotel isn't for you as I didn't see any such food during our stay which was a refreshing change. The staff were all friendly and efficient especially Carla Quintal who deserves special mention for her friendly welcoming manner and remembering which was our favourite table. Although it was a long way down from the 10th floor to level -2 where the pools and sunbeds were it was worth it. The pools were clean and refreshing and there were always plenty of spare sunbeds. I also enjoyed swimming from the pier to the pontoon where the water was even more refreshing!! There were plenty of busses passing the hotel for exploring the island and only a 20 minute walk into Funchal. This was our 3rd trip to Madeira and it won't be the last with the Vidamar Hotel worth a definite return.
