A fabulous holiday
As always the Residence didn’t disappoint. The rooms are spotless, the beds and pillows are comfortable and every little detail is thought of- from shampoo, conditioner and body lotion to tea, coffee, fruit and bottled water being available in the apartment. The pools are very inviting and the gardens are beautifully maintained. We watched one of the team refreshing the painted wall around the garden apartments throughout our stay. The staff are always courteous and we are welcomed back like friends every year. The food in the restaurants is superb and beautifully presented. The array of choices for breakfast in the Atlantida is impressive and really good value for money. You certainly won’t be disappointed if you choose to stay at one of the PortoBay hotels.

Never disappoints
We have been coming here for 16 years and always have a relaxing break. Service is exemplary with excellent staff. All the restaurants serve excellent food. Great location to get around the island with local buses stopping outside the Porto Mar hotel we can highly recommend the local buses to Monte with fabulous views of the island on the way up. It is a twenty minute walk into Funchal centre and there is a stunning 3 mile coastal walk to Camero de Lobos starting outside the Residence.
Mini break
Perfect location for a short break as much as a longer one! Facilities were amazing especially for mum who currently has mobility issues. The Residence kindly lent her a walker for the week which made a massive difference for her being able to get around.

The Residence is always our choise
The Residence has been our favourite for many years. Its a 1 bedroom apartment which offers me and my wife enough space to live in peace and harmony for all our vacations. Two washbasins give both of us a chance to do our morning preparations smoothly. Jumbosized bed is more than enough and available kitchenette wares satisfy our vacation-time needs.
The well-maintained garden of the hotel complex is always a source of joy, as are the services provided by Porto Mare Hotel, cleanliness of the rooms and all near-by attractions.

A fantastic stay and holiday 2026
A very relaxing holiday in an equally fantastic complex. The meals at the Alfarma were delicious and sitting in the garden added an extra dimension. Breakfast and the buffet evening meal at Atlantida was equally good and a welcome every morning from the Chef was lovely. How they produce the quantity of excellent food each day is amazing and all the staff who contribute to that should be congratulated. Happy hour with Virgilio Rodriques and his staff hard working staff, especially when it was moved to Bar Varanda with the musical acts, need a huge thank you as they worked really hard. My holiday would not be the same without the wonderful Luis Soares and my yearly 'hug' fix. He is a delight, extremely hard working, respected by all and not bad looking! A sad holiday in some respects as it was the last year of my 20 year Time Share but hopefully not my last holiday with these wonderful people. Travelling on my own after the lost of my husband 10 years ago could have been very lonely but I was welcomed every year with hugs, kindness and love.
