Located in the heart of Funchal, this hotel is a 3 minutes walk away from restaurants and the La Vie Shopping Center, and within 8 minutes walking of the Cathedral and Marina. The Farmer's market and Old Town are both within 16 minutes walking distance.
ASPA studios feature free high-speed Wi-Fi, fully equipped kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs with international channels (and a streaming box available on demand), private bathrooms with rain showers, as well as toiletries and hairdryers.
This endearing historical property is divided in 2 buildings, 40 meters apart from each other. In the main building (São Paulo), guests can relax with drinks and embracing views of the city on the Rooftop lounge, or get work done inside our meeting room. Food and beverage services include a selection of fresh local ingredients at the breakfast buffet, 24 hours freshly ground coffee, as well as a wine cellar. To enjoy a quiet relaxing afternoon, a cosy garden with outdoor furniture, sun beds and a barbecue are available in the Alegria building.
All the superior studios and family studios (triple, quadruple and 2 bedrooms studio apartments) are located in the São Paulo building. The standard single or double studios (some with balcony or garden view) are located in the Alegria building.
With ASPA's premium location, guests can easily explore the island by bus or by car. The harbour and the aerobus station are a few minutes away, and the best museums can be found in the neighbourhood. An indoor garage is available for a supplement. All late arrivals are offered our express self check-in service (prior contact required). ASPA is a proud pet-friendly hotel.

Lovely place a the heart of Funchal
We had a lovely stay at Aspa studios! Beautiful old house that has been refurbished to suit the traveller's needs, at the centre of Funchal! We stayed for a week with my kids. The studio was very confortable and was kept spotlessly clean and tidy by Isabella, who was so sweet with us all!!! Looking forward to coming back!
Overall, a great place to stay
The apartment was very clean and all appliances worked as expected. The staff were lovely and though these are apartments they offer facilities such as breakfast, and a change of bedding and towels. The only things to note are there is no air con, but instead you get a large ceiling fan. The breakfast is also basic, but it’s fine if you want a coffee and a light bite to get the day started.
Excellent friendly hotel
Wonderful place central location easy to walk to the sights. Very friendly staff keen to assist with making your stay as enjoyable as possible. Great spacious apartment with kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom with very comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast with beautiful fresh made local produce all prepared by a wonderful chef who is so friendly it feels like you have a personal chef. Highly recommended and Madeira is such a wonderful destination can’t wait to revisit.
Little gem
One of the best holidays ever. An amazing place in the heart of Funchal, very quiet and peaceful, well maintained and with attention to every detail, from the welcoming box of sweets to the everyday smiling face of the cleaning lady. Fully equipped kitchen. A unique terrace with an authentic style and a breathtaking view. The only thing that wasn't to our taste was the breakfast, despite the lady's efforts to prepare something different every day, it just wasn't our cup of tea. Strongly recommend 👌
Nothing too much trouble - top notch!
We couldn’t have asked for more, friendly conscientious staff & management who couldn’t do enough to help us when our flight was cancelled, just providing another room at short order with no fuss. The breakfasts are typical continental style and very nice, rooms are very comfortable, which are well equipped.
