This luxurious hotel is located 1 km from the centre of Funchal and features amazing views over the mountains and the bay. There is a plethora of restaurants, bars and shops in the vicinity. The hotel is set in lush landscaped garden. This is the perfect hotel to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the breathtaking exotic island of Madeira.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had a wonderful weeks holiday at this hotel beautiful appointed room wonderful helpful staff . Really lovely cooked breakfasts and continental breakfast as well . Lovely evening meals we had a few so glad we did would definitely return we loved everything about this hotel .
This is one of the friendliest small hotels i have ever stayed at. From the welcome from the very knowledgeable Sara at front of house, to Marta, Catrina and Phillipe in the excellent Restaurant and Marco, Antonio and Bernard in the Bar area, not forgetting Laura and company in the Spa who all do the hotel proud. Rooms are spacious (ours had a balcony - recommended) Suites ar also available. The Hotel is in a quiet part of Funchal a 10 minute walk downhill into town. The Five Stars are truly deserved for the quality here with a clear passion for outstanding service at a keen price point. It was a pleasure to meet Andre the “Manager” who arranged a drinks reception who seems to have a wonderful relationship with all of his team. The food menu was extensive and delicious. Breakfast could be hot or cold with hot food being cooked to order. They have a wide selection of wines and local beer on tap. Very homely furnishings with fresh flower arrangements everywhere. Two pools, indoor in the second floor and outdoor in the spa area. Very happy to recommend the spa treatments professionally delivered by highly qualified staff. The whole hotel kicks well above its weight.
There aren't enough stars to give this hotel. It was perfect in every way. The staff were amazing, and couldn't do enough for you. Particular thanks to Katherina on reception, who was wonderful. We are already looking at booking our next visit. Thank you to all at the hotel, and look forward to seeing you again soon.
This hotel has high standards in all that it does. It is situated a short walk from the main drag surrounded by a beautiful garden. The staff are simply wonderful, warm, helpful and accommodating. Our room was clean, large, well equipped with the largest bed we have ever slept in! Breakfasts are simply too good for words and the dinner menu interesting and enjoyable. All in all great value for money. Why wait? Book it! Based on our experience you won't be disappointed.
I travelled solo to this wonderful hotel and could not have felt more welcome. I had a huge room with a queen sized bed, sofa, and balcony. The staff (and the guests) were all so lovely and I talked to so many people and never felt like I was ‘solo’. Having read the previous reviews I knew the hotel would be nice but I had 2 concerns… (1) I’d been too busy to book trips in advance and (2) I was worried the restaurant would be all fish and I don’t much like fish! Neither was a problem… firstly Rosie is the resident client relationship manager who promptly booked me a variety of levada walks which were all fab, and gave me ideas and instructions for anything else I wanted to do. Way easier than me pre planning from home. Secondly, the menu was à la carte and had a mix of fish, meat and veggie options. The food so delicious that by the end of the week I found myself ordering fish and enjoying it! Beware that with 3 courses every night you will put on weight even with all the hills to walk! I never return to a hotel or holiday destination because there are so many places to see in the world, but this hotel has broken the rule. The day I returned, I booked to go back next year with my son, and I cannot wait.
