- Quinta da Bela Vista

It's surprising the treasures you can unearth when you venture a little further out of Funchal... A little beyond the centre of the cosmopolitan city; beyond the main resorts, is a multi-award winning hotel whose charms will quickly draw you in. This is the Quinta da Bela Vista – a beautiful nineteenth century mansion house.
The Quinta da Bela Vista is a truly discrete haven for the discerning traveller. Full of colonial charm and rich with authentic character, it's the island's most unique five star hotel.
A stay at the Quinta da Bela Vista gives you a richer holiday experience. As well as the views and the people, and the wonderful ambience that's so much a part of a Madeiran holiday, you'll get a little glimpse into a different time.
It's all about the experience. The look of the Quinta da Bela Vista sets the tone. As well as the beautifully appointed rooms and rich furnishings, the hotel is set in manicured lawns and boasts sweeping views out over the Bay. It all feels so picture-postcard perfect.
Naturally that timeless elegance extends to the guests' rooms. Each luxurious garden-view room has its own exquisite marble bathroom – how's that for nineteenth century style? Modern conveniences including cable TV, telephone, safety deposit box, hairdryer, minibar and data port ensure that you're not confined to the past. Balcony rooms are also available at a supplement.
The Quinta da Bela Vista is choc-full of wonderful amenities too. There are three bars and three restaurants to choose from, each with its own distinctive style and feel. There is an excellent gym, with sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as a heated outdoor pool. There's nothing quite like an evening swim under a starry sky. The billiards room is another kiss to the past, while Wi-Fi throughout the hotel brings things bang up-to-date.
You'll experience the best of past and present as you explore Funchal too. The Quinta da Bela Vista is such a perfect stepping stone for any holiday on this island. Madeira's past sits comfortably alongside its present. The capital – Funchal – is the greatest example of that. It's a thriving, vibrant city; a favourite with holidaymakers, and quite removed from its past as a fennel plantation by the sea. But it celebrates that heritage easily.
The Quinta da Bela Vista is one of Madeira's finest five star hotels, but not just because of its old-world style. Its facilities and service standards conform to the very highest modern ideals.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
A discreet haven only seven minutes from the centre of Funchal, the Quinta da Bela Vista exudes traditional colonial charm and character. A mansion dating from the 19th century the hotel has won numerous awards and offers a unique and special guest experience. The hotel is surrounded by manicured gardens and enjoys sweeping views of the bay around Funchal. A complimentary bus service operates from the hotel to the centre of Funchal.
Lovely hotel with excellent service.
Beautiful boutique hotel V well run with extremely helpful staff who were clearly well trained. Food was delicious in all the restaurants . Great facilities especially the pool which had the most beautiful view. Pool attendant was v helpful. Room was spacious and beds comfortable
Wonderful hotel. Exceptional staff who were immaculately dressed and couldn’t be any more helpful. Swimming pool was perfect, in wonderful setting, with plenty of comfortable sunbeds overseen by a tentative member of staff. The bar house by the pool was similar to a lovely English pub with two smartly dressed, friendly staff who would look after you so well! Breakfast was excellent. The evening meal was served in the same historical room. We were half board. It was a four meal which was also excellent. Although it was a ‘set menu’ if you made the chef a where before hand dishes could be changed. The evenings menu was displayed in reception. Eg. I personally do not eat fish, so this course was changed to something different every evening to a risotto or ravioli or stuffed mushroom. On reflection my wife and I found the set menu really enjoyable as the food was top quality and found yourself trying lovely food which you wouldn’t normally choose. An excellent wine list at reasonable prices each day was a treat. The hotel has a shuttle bus to take you down to the sea front. We did walk it down one day and back up another ! Up was a challenge. We had a 5 night stay we will never forget. Highly recommended.
What a hidden gem of a hotel. Pure 5* luxury. We stayed half board, evening meal was 4 course fine dining waiter service. Breakfast was exteaordinary from cooked, fruit, meats, smokec salmon, continental and bubbly if you eanted it. We upgraded to a balcony room- expensive but worth it. So relaxed from the momentvwe arrived- time stood still. All staff were remarkably efficient, friendly, helpful and professional. The pool was perfect temperature. Gardens magnificent. Location great. Shuttle bus 4x per day. Dont expect full on entertainment but pianust at dinner 3x pw was enjoyable. We couldn't fault it.
What a fantastic hotel. One of the best we've ever stayed in. Room was spacious, well appointed and clean. Bed was comfortable. Clean linen/towels every day if required Pool area was superb with good attendants. We stayed half board. The evening meal was a set menu 4 courses It was more like fine dining than hotel food. Atmosphere was very relaxed and quiet. But by far the best aspect was the staff. They were superb..every single one of them Excellent English spoken, nothing was too much trouble.
