Nice hotel, but needs better access for disabled people
Nice hotel, but needs better access for disabled people. This is surprising, given the average age of the clientele. For example, there is no ramp up the steps to the front door, just a rickety handrail which needs fixing. There are steps from the foyer to the bar, and steps from the bar to the dining room, but nothing to hold on to. There are two sets of steps down to the swimming pool, one next to the shower one uses before going into the pool, and one on the other side. There is only one rail. Need I say that the rail is on the other side from the shower, so one has to walk round the end of pool on pebbled tiles which are hard on the feet.

Quinta da Bela Vista - What a lovely experience
The hotel had many good reviews. It really lived up to them. Firstly the staff second to none with every staff member going on and beyond the expected. Individually Sonia in the restaurant and Paula on reception were outstanding. The extra yard no, but the extra mile YES.
We had a deluxe room that was very comfortable. Big bed, hot water and a large balcony.
We went B&B and breakfasts were superb. Like colonial Britain but in Madeira. Fabulous service and choice. Other guests told us the evening meals were top quality.
A courtesy bus provided and used with a cheap "Bolt Taxi" return worked well. About 8 Euros on average with BOLT. Personally I think the drop off, of the shuttle should have been 800 meters further towards downtown . This is because having walked to the downtown area once, via the promenade, you don't need to do it every time.
The gym was adequate (not used) and jacuzzi fine (not used).
All in all a lovely quiet stay, in an exceptionally staffed hotel. If you want Canary Island Style holidays then get a beachfront hotel. In my opinion this was far superior with the option to jump on the free shuttle and drink/dine out. Thanks Sonia and Paula, absolutely wonderful stay.

A beautiful hotel, with great staff
We had a lovely week at this beautiful hotel. The mid week flights from Manchester arrive late in the evening, but the duty manager had arranged for a meal to be brought up to our room, which was much appreciated. Two slight surprises on arrival: our Junior suite turned out to have two single beds, not the Queen/King shown on the Jet2 details. Fortunately, the same duty manager upgraded us to a room with two Queen- sized beds. The second was that in the Manor House (Junior suites) there is no air conditioning - not a showstopper for us, but something to consider. The positives: the hotel and gardens are fabulous and the staff are even better. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. The pool area and the bar are great. We stayed half- board and the food was plentiful and delicious (the evening menu is a fixed four course affair, although there is also a separate à la carte option in another restaurant). Overall, highly recommended.
Relaxing, refined, resplendent.
A lovely hotel with a slightly colonial feel. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Food and wine were very decent. This is our "go to" hotel for any future trips to Madeira.
Stunning hotel
Beautiful location. It was very peace and quiet. The staff were professional and at the same time friendly. The rooms were wonderfully large and spacious. Enormous bed! You get what you pay for. Could not fault anything-except they need to invest in decent hair dryers first the bedrooms.
