A really enjoyable stay
The hotel is located in the perfect spot to access all the delights of Madeira being extremely close to cable car, buses and restaurants. The beach is also right on the doorstep although this is very rocky and so mighty not appeal to them less agile. Hotel facilities are excellent and highly recommended

Great Adult Only Hotel in Old Funchal
A great adults only hotel situated in Funchal Old Town, next to the old Portuguese Fort. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. There’s two swimming pools one inside and one outside. There’s plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. Special mention for Jessica, from customer service. She is a rising star in the hotel business.
Back Again!!
I have been to the Porto Bay Santa Maria several times over the years and never cease to be impressed. If I was being super picky I would say the sunbeds could be more comfortable, That being said the island is such a beautiful place we rarely use them.

Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast, lovely pool area. Ideally situated on the edge of the old town. We really enjoyed our stay!

Relax and enjoy this fantastic hotel, in an ideal situation beside Funchal Old Town, it’s easy access to town, Farmers market, Cable Car.
