This hotel enjoys an impressive location on a cliff with a view over the Atlantic. It is just a short walk from the centre of Funchal. There are restaurants, pubs and shopping venues situated not far from the property. This luxury hotel was recently renovated and comprises a total of 75 rooms and a number of on-site facilities. Guests may choose to relax with a book from the library or make use of the Internet access. Dining options include a restaurant, in which first-rate cookery and live entertainment are presented, and a snug bar. There are 2 function rooms that can also be booked for cocktail receptions, conferences and other events.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Lovely hotel, very modern and very clean. Fantastic breakfast selection. Friendly and helpful staff. Right next to the sea, and close to many shops and restaurants. Easy walk into Funchal or to the pebble beach.
It was our second time on Madeira and also our second stay in Pestana Hotel chain. We spend a whole week in Vila Lido. I traveled with my daughter and parents, so we chose the Superior room which was quite big and comfortable, equipped with all necessary facilities. Every morning we enjoyed a ocean view while drinking coffee on our balcony. It was also so nice to find some little sweet gifts. We had a half board preordered for a whole stay, which is a great option for those who don’t like spending hours in the city restaurants. The breakfast was great, food was delicious and varied, healthy and suitable for kids. Dinners were different every evening, there was no crowds, queues and noise as it sometimes happens in such big hotels. The stuff noticed that we had a favourite table and it was always prepared for our company. We prefer walking and sightseeing, so the hotel location is important for us too. The city centre is a 30-40 mins walk from hotel, and there’s a beautiful promenade in the opposite direction which leads to the Praia Formosa (30mins walk) and to Camara de Lobos ( about 1.5 hours calm walk from hotel). There is a bus stop 2 mins from a hotel, which we used to get quickly to Teleférico. We fully enjoyed our stay in Vila Lido, as everything we need during our vacations was on a high level!
We were put up at this hotel for 2 nights by Jet2 during a delay in returning home. We stayed in a lovely two bedroom suite. The buffet restaurant is a centre floor in the round building, as seen in the photo. Breakfast was both cooked and a nice selection of bread. Dinner was a good selection of dishes, meat, fish and vegetarian. Well labelled. A choice of hot and cold deserts.
On the ground floor is a large pool, with a shallow section, ideal for small children and a slope with handrail. Ample sunbeds which were well spaced. Pool towels are provided. There is access via steps into the sea.
The ground floor contains a snack bar restaurant, as well as a spa. There is also some outside seating. A good menu. We had fish and chips, which was the best I have tasted.
Overall we had a lovely, unexpected two night stay. We would certainly return.
We would like to thank the staff team, who made us very welcomed, under difficult and stressful circumstances.
My third visit to this hotel with my mother in the last 12 months and this time my sister joined us for a few days. There was an initial mix up with the room, but this was sorted the following day and the rest of our week was wonderful as always. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the outside areas are too, the staff are very friendly, and the breakfasts are excellent. We've been back a week and are already looking to visit again in September. This hotel is perfect for our needs!
Amazing location and probably the best sea front hotel in Funchal
Atmosphere over all was great, staff very friendly and approachable, evening entertainment in the buffet restaurant very dated and geared towards the elderly
Rooms - five star ⭐ overall but attention to detail in shower room and head board could have been better
Cleansed very good and room maid extremely friendly
Value overall was good however half-board basis poor. Evening buffet let the hotel down badly. Variety and quality of food is not what is expected of four star hotel.
Food lukewarm and salad bar had flys constantly.
Cheeses and salad not refrigerated and chef special left cold on hot plate???
No variety, night after night forcing us to eat out 3 our 7 nights.
Would stay again but on a B&B basis
