80s decor. LOUD MUSIC ALL NIGHT.
BE PREPARED TO HAVE NO SLEEP Great location but the hotel is dire. Be prepared to be kept aWake until 3am with thumping music from casino. Food is poor gave me stomach upset everytime. Room had decor from the 80s with everything falling apart. AVOID
Beautiful Hotel
The best part of this hotel is its location which is why we have chosen it for the past few years. Perched on the cliff looking over Funchal, you get fantastic views in both directions. The rooms are nicely appointed and kept clean by housekeeping, in fact the whole hotel is spotless. There is a large selection at breakfast which is quickly replenished and the staff are very welcoming. We couldn't choose between the two pools - the large one is perfect for swimming in and you can sit and enjoy the views in the peaceful gardens. The roof top pool is an oasis of calm. The only negative is that if you are on an evening flight, you are naturally unable to keep your room due to incoming guests. However, the facilities for changing/showering are not in line with a 5 star hotel. You have use of an unpleasant basic shower and cabin to change in adjacent to the indoor pool. In other hotels of a similar standing have had far better facilities for the spa/departing customers to use.

Lacking in most areas ..
Stayed here for a couple of night last week. A rather faceless hotel with an incredible amount of dead or wasted space with no proper bar unless you want to sit outside. Breakfast is rather chaotic with luke warm food, awful bread, terrible stewed coffee it’s just an overbright hall of piled up poor quality food. We weren’t offered an upsell of dinner at the hotel so we ate out both nights. Rooms are just ok with nice beds. Pool area with no service or personality. It’s convenient for them to not have a towel/courtesy service by the pool with no obvious side tables. Didn’t have a clue how to get to room on 1st floor from pool area so walked endlessly trying to find. Is essence we thought the hospitality aspect as this place lacked. It was clean and I suppose served our purpose. Would we go back? NO

3rd visit and will be back
This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and I still love it there. We were welcomed at reception by staff who were very friendly and helpful. Rooms: We had a suite (again) because was 3 of us which included our 20year old daughter, so we like to have separate bedrooms. Also we like the massive bathroom with separate toilet and shower. The rooms are very clean and comfy. My husband and I love the beds (2 twins pushed together) but my daughter found her single bed a bit uncomfy - she has always had a sofa bed on the 2 previous visits but this time she had a proper single. Rooms are cleaned everyday by a great team. Food/Drinks: We only ever had breakfast at the hotel which we always loved. There is something for everyone. The food is refilled quite quickly. Used plates, cups etc on tables are efficiently taken away by a great waiting team, who are always friendly. In the evenings we would have drinks in the bar which was lovely and again a great bar team. Hotel: It is dated and does require modernising especially in the rooms. Maintenance also needs addressing. The knob was missing from our shower but we managed pulling it out if we needed to use the smaller shower (which was only once), but there was nothing of great importance. Location: Absolutely brilliant for Funchal. There are lots of hills so comfy shoes or trainers are a must! Minutes walk into the centre and old town and the other way about 30 -40 minutes walk to the bigger shopping center (Forum). There are lots of restaurants around the hotel. Peters Store is a great little corner shop to pick up bits like waters, drinks, snacks and things you might have forgotten, like suntan lotion. It is just a the bottom of the slop from the hotel and to the left. I will definitely return back to the Pastana Casino Park Hotel despite it's minor issues but because of the staff and location

Nice Hotel
Came in May for a quick short get away! It was very quiet and cleqn, in a good area, staff was firiendly. Breakfast was good always something to eat! Think the rooms need to be more modern. The gym facilties was not the greatest but managed to do a work out. The indoor pool was relaxjng until young kids were allowed in without parents and was loud and splashing about. The drinks were very expensive. All i would say is this hotel was more for 50 plus years old.
