The Pestana Ocean Bay directly overlooks the ocean in a peaceful location just three miles to the west of Funchal. Classified as a beach resort, the hotel is on the beautiful bay of Praia Formosa backed by cliffs. The tranquil gardens contain a spectacularly situated pool area and give direct access to the sea.

Fab Stay
Lovely stay at Ocean Bay. Gripes...only two small ones. The French seemed to get a nice welcoming commitee we got Jack from next door (no offence Jack lovely bloke) and then the 2nd week the activities on the notice board were taken down so we had no idea what was going on. However, the cleanliness and hard work from all staff made it totally enjoyable. The rooms were good the food was fine and drinks and entertainment all good fun. An additional meal at the Pestana Royal was a nice touch too. At the bar Mohammed and Baten were always smiling and welcoming and the entertainment provided by Bruna and the mad hatter Diogo was fantastic. Mr Pestana could do with giving not just these but all of them a pay rise as everyone works so hard to make sure your holiday goes well so a huge well done to all. Our whole experience was a good one and we would most certainly return to this friendly magic little place.

wonderful stay
We absolutely loved our stay! Beautiful hotel, very clean and comfortable, with friendly and helpful staff. Everything was perfect. We would definitely come back
Good holiday
Nice location with amazing views,rooms where ok,two single beds pushed together and bath with shower curtain but was clean enough.nice quiet relaxing holiday.only downsides really was that for some reason they didn't provide local coconut rum(malibu)which unfortunately ruled out three quarters of the drinks we would of had,they did a locally produced one but you had to pay for it which was odd because it was the same locally produced one that the sister hotel next door supplied as part of your all inclusive package,and we assumed it would be available here also which is why most of our drinks where relying on it.another problem whith this hotel is that there is not pool bar,so every time you want a drink if your by the pool you have to get dressed,which is very inconvenient especially if you've just get out of the pool.another issue is there's no access to the front of the hotel s I if you want to go to the shops you have a long walk On the whole we enjoyed the holiday and if they sort the malibu situation we would return.

Excellent hotel, checking in was made easy by Laura, stress and hassle free, rooms very clean and comfortable. Pool activities with Bruna are ongoing and fun, she is polite and easy going. The Bar staff, led by Roberto are all very friendly and courteous, Irene and Neurio are a credit to the dining area and work hard (as do all staff), to make mealtimes easier. I had a significant birthday whilst at the hotel and the staff did not let it go unnoticed, for which I am grateful.

A lovely slice of paradise
Arrived Jet 2 holiday ..jet2 rep no where to be found visits on s Tues we arrived fri whats app and on line does not have same effect ..other companies have a rep there.
The hotel is in a cove off beaten track
The staff are incredible human beings who love their jobs and are so kind fun helpful and a credit to the hotel..shes a bit tired a bit dated but we loved her .the inclusive buffet was great plenty to eat and drink .sunbed police need to work a bit harder towels put out at 8 am and they came out at midday we watched on purpose this is not fair to guests not getting a bed ..pool rules ? No ball games ..closing time of pool etc kids jumping in unattended in the eve ?
The breakfast song made my holiday so cute..
It would be 5 star but the lack of air conditioning in the room makes it unbearably hot the ceiling fan isnt enough ..ac each room then its 5 star . The picnic lunch for our tours was appreciated ..we loved it snd the island
