In keeping with the overall sense of style and place, accommodation at the Pestana Ocean Bay Hotel is exceptional. Again, rooms are uniquely furnished – all very tastefully – giving a real sense of this not being a hotel just like any other. All spacious twin and double bedded seaview rooms have a well-equipped bathroom, balcony and kitchenette with a fridge and kettle. Rooms also feature cable TV radio and telephone. An in room safe is available at a fee payable locally. The Pestana Ocean Bay directly overlooks the ocean in a peaceful location just three miles to the west of Funchal. Classified as a beach resort, the hotel is on the beautiful bay of Praia Formosa backed by cliffs. The tranquil gardens contain a spectacularly situated pool area and give direct access to the sea.

Excellent Stay
Probably the most friendly team i have ever come across in hotels. From reception to bar restaurant and kitchen. Every single person had a smile all the time. Makes a whole world of difference to have a team that's happy. Small mistakes are easily forgotten with such a team.
Rooms were amazingly spacious and very comfortable.
Food was brilliant and didnt seem to cut corners on quality. Although vegetarian options were a bit limited so my wife couldnt really have much but plenty of salad and veg. Wouldn't have been able to survive on that for more than 2 days though.
Good drinks and cocktails selection.
Could have done with a pool bar.
But overall a very pleasant stay.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. They made my birthday extra special by surprising me with a cake and champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The views were breathtaking, with stunning sea and mountain scenery. There was also great entertainment every day of the week, which made the stay even more enjoyable.
I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return again

An outstanding experience from the moment we arrived at the hotel until departure one week later. The accommodation, food & drinks are of a high standard on an All Inclusive basis. The staff are attentive, professional & caring. In particular, a special mention for Manuela who works extremely hard to ensure the guests are looked after at breakfast, lunch & dinner. She is very professional, caring, cheerful & always gave a warm welcome. Also, Diego who is part of the events team. He is friendly & great fun. The gardens are beautiful & well kept. The swimming pools are clean & the staff check the water on a regular basis. The hotel is located facing the beach. The view of the sea & mountains is spectacular. All rooms are sea facing. The sound of the waves is so relaxing. We have travelled around the world & can honestly say that The Pestana Ocean Bay is one of the best we’ve ever stayed at offering excellent value for money. The hotel is located in a remote area but you can walk to bars & shops. The cave walk is nice & takes you through to the other side of the bay where there is a shopping mall & lots of hotels. There is a hotel courtesy coach that goes to & from Funchal city centre. We look forward to returning soon for another relaxing holiday.

Great hotel with all rooms sea facing.
Lovely hotel with 2 pools and grounds. Very friendly and efficient staff. Especially Manuela Garanito in the restaurant and Mohammad on the bar. We Always found something pleasant to eat on the buffet and the choice we found to be good. Great that pool towels are provided and the Jacuzzi was nice to get into and the water was heated. It was nice that they tried hard to deter the Visiting Pigeons from around the outside eating area with visiting specialists with various Birds of Prey. The free bus to and from Funchal was handy although we did get a couple of taxis back as the last free bus back was 17:30. We will visit again and explore more of Madeira.
