Again, rooms are uniquely furnished – all very tastefully – giving a real sense of this not being a hotel just like any other. All spacious twin and double bedded seaview rooms have a well-equipped bathroom, balcony and kitchenette with a fridge and kettle. Rooms also feature cable TV radio and telephone. An in room safe is available at a fee payable locally. The Pestana Ocean Bay directly overlooks the ocean in a peaceful location just three miles to the west of Funchal. Classified as a beach resort, the hotel is on the beautiful bay of Praia Formosa backed by cliffs. The tranquil gardens contain a spectacularly situated pool area and give direct access to the sea.

wonderful stay
incredible location right on the sea, with a stony beach steps away. balcony and room were both spotless and charming. great selection of drinks all times of day. really nice food, we found nice things to eat 9 out of 10 times and we are an extremely fussy ARFID sufferer and a vegetarian lol
First All Inclusive Experience
Comfortable and extremely clean hotel but slightly dated in places, but very well maintained. My first experience of an all inclusive and I was initially very sceptical, but the food was wide, varied and every day there were different options- all of which were of a very high standard and absolutely delicious. A good base to explore Funchal, although quite a walk away to the main town. The highlight of our stay was Diogo’s unwavering and infectious happiness that he spread throughout the hotel - an absolute pleasure and a real asset to Pestana!
Just ok
As usual the French groups were rude and disgusting from taking towels off peoples sunbeds and dumping . And being awful and disgusting around the buffet !! Hotel ok cleanish . Receptionist men not polite the ladies were much nicer on arrival . The staff were ok but had no control over the disrespectful French people . Would not recommend this hotel .

Location is great very quiet and relaxing rooms great view clean and tidy good value for money was greeted with wine and cake when checked in

We had a great relaxed week with easy access to the town and hills.
A great location on the beach. Nearly every room has a sea view. In the middle of the coastal promenade footpath which goes in both directions. Very warm welcome, very relaxed atmosphere and wonderful friendly staff. Room was spacious and comfortable and relaxing. Although the hotel is not new, it has been really well maintained, and is far more easy- going and relaxing than others. The food is buffet style, with a huge choice of different, constantly changing options. There is a lot of outside seating with sea view, and interior seating. Overall, if you are looking for a great hotel without the formality, choose this one!
