This resort hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the tourist area of Lido, and offers magnificent ocean views. It enjoys direct access to the Oceanside promenade and the small pebble beach, Gorgulho. The town centre, the old town and Madeira Wine Lodges are all easily accessible. Madeira Airport is about 25 kms away. This is a modern and elegant hotel with a contemporary design concept. It opened in 2008, and improves the quality of accommodation options for both business and leisure travellers coming to Madeira Island. It has 220 rooms in total spread across 10 floors, as well as 2 fine restaurants, 3 bars and esplanades, and a ballroom with seating for up to 350 persons, where private events and celebrations may be arranged. The 6 conference rooms, offering flexible meeting spaces and equipped with web access, are the perfect places to host meetings and conferences.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Spacious room and bathroom, tiny Minibar and amazing views to the coast. Location is also good for taxi/uber or Bus, parking seems a little bit small. Breakfast was OK, but poor on hot dishes, not pancakes every day, and juices was delayed to be recharged. In general staff seems very upset, and they answer to any request (like omelet/directions/etc), as a favor....I guess is the salary, but is Melia responsability to keep trained personal to be customer focus, not sure if I back to here...balance cost/value not seems correct.
We did taste the interior pool, its small but for cloudy days is good.
Maybe on the Junior Suite with kitchen and separated rooms can be worthy, otherwise, I suggest keep near the port, there is a lot of options with 4 stars good enough. Zero entratinment for kids, luckely we are adventours and have a plan for days/nights...
We have stopped at The Meliá on several occasions and always found everything to our liking . It’s excellent in all ways but more so the staff. We use the Meliá brand in other countries and called upon Tina who is in control of guest relations. She, as she always does when we stay there went the extra mile to help us out, me being cheeky to ask if she could speak to a colleague at another property. After going out of her way to make a phone she got the information we needed. The company is lucky to have her and the ethics she works with.
Booked the Royal suite for 9 days. Excellent hotel and staff were fantastic and very friendly. Food is wonderful. Had half board. Pools are excellent and the location is very convenient to evrything. I must recommend this hotel for anyone staying with families.
In my opinion not 5 star as stated. Hotel is very dated. Booked a superior room with sea view. Staff in general were quite unhelpful with the exception of Lenine. Limited staff members at bar area often resulting in quite a long wait for any service. Breakfast buffet was good but buffet evening meals lacked variety and quality. No atmosphere around pool area, no music or waiter service. Very limited evening entertainment. Awful and unhelpful check out service, no option of courtesy room for an evening flight.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. As soon as the hotel manager realized we were getting married, he prepared a lovely surprise for us in our room. We are grateful for his care and the excellent service.
