Wonderful hotel stay
Simple review, every thing was excellent!!
family holiday - most expectations met
Family of 4 Recently stayed at this hotel, generally very positive feedback, food was excellent, so much choice, fresh and regularly replenished . Tried two of the themed restaurants but set menu and limited alternatives for vegetarians. So continued rest of week with main restaurant. Which we enjoyed at all times Very attentive staff, quick to clean tables and replenish drinks
Very high standard of cleanliness around pool, bars etc - The room was slightly smaller than the photos indicate but adequate and daily cleaned but not hoovered in the week i was there, shower screen and mirrors not cleaned. Despite the rules of NOT reserving loungers, this is disregarded and many towels on loungers early, while people remained in their rooms or had breakfast, one family even went out for the morning and reserved 4 loungers!!! Lots of children and consequently noise?
All inc drinks were very good and especially cocktails
Only went to see one night entertainment but sadly unprofessional singer who sat on a chair and chose to talk to her band members in between completing the song. Not a good impression - at one point i thought they were having a row with the expression on her face !
Struggled with the smokers around the eating areas, not used to this
would i say this is a 5 star hotel, no sadly not, a 4 star only
Fabulous Hotel
Came back yesterday from a perfect holiday at the Enotel lido hotel Funchal Madeira. all the staff were so nice and helpful through the holiday , they could not do enough for us. The hotel was spotless and the food for an all inclusive holiday was excellent , lots of choice and tasted delicious, could not fault it. My husband was having his 70th birthday out there and they reserved us a table in the Madeira restaurant and provided a chocolate birthday cake for him, they also put a flower in our room the morning of his birthday when we went down to breakfast . My daughter had emailed the hotel before hand. Madeira is a beautiful island, very pretty and spotless and everyone is very nice. There are a lot of hills so maybe not suitable for anyone with low mobility , perfect temperature not too hot. On his birthday we did the Monte wicker basket toboggan ride which was great fun

A Lovely Holiday But Definitely Not 5 Star.
Having just checked out we thought we would share our view on this hotel.
This hotel is nowhere near 5 star, more like 3 star. We've stayed in plenty of 5s to know the difference.
However first up, we must say how wonderful we thought the staff were. From the reception team to the youngsters doing the bars,pools and restaurants. Always polite and cheerful. They were outstanding.
This hotel has so much potential but doesn't take advantage. There are various signs around the hotel, dress code, etiquette etc. All are either ignored or not enforced.
We watched people drape towels over barriers in the restaurant at evening meals. We've watched a young child use the piano bar area as a race track on his balance bike. All unchallenged by staff, even though they could see it. The lifts are a challenge, 2 x2 lifts for such a big hotel is not sufficient. We were on floor 10, top floor. Great having no noise, so quiet, but I lost count how many times we ended up taking the stairs. Lots of the children here were really well behaved, but if you don't want children at your hotel, avoid this one as lots of feral children in our 14 days.
Our shower leaked like everyone else's and 5 mornings out of the first 7, our safe wouldn't open. After the 5th time they changed it. It has to be said though, the last time it couldn't be opened, the lady at reception lent us money as we had a booking at Reids and we obviously couldn't get to our cards or money.
We enjoyed the food here, especially the Madeira themed restaurant. In fact you can probably eat and drink here 24/7,not that we did.
We enjoyed our stay, but will look elsewhere next time. As busy as it was you could always get a sunbed, but I'm not sure if that would be the case come August.
On a final note, the room cleaning is a bit hit or miss. Every time we asked for clean bedding and towels we had them. However, the floor wasn't swept once in 14 days and neither was the balcony. The three dead wasps that were on there on day 1 were still there on day 14. On top if this, the housekeeper had a bad habit of walking off with your key card.
We had a fab holiday but must advise, this isn't 5 star. Nowhere near it. In a 5 star hotel, staff don't wear a polo shirt with jeans and trainers. Nor do you find discarded glasses,crockery and cutlery on landings in top quality hotels, but that isn't the hotels fault.
Finally a big thank you the staff for making our stay enjoyable, Madeira is a beautiful island and we will return, but to a different hotel.

Nice hotel
Location- to be honest we didn’t do much research before booking so didn’t realise the whole island was basically on a hill. Everything is either uphill or downhill. The town is about a 25 minute walk up. Shopping centre other side is about 15-20 minute walk up. Also didn’t realise when booking that there are no sandy beaches near hotel. Only cobble/rocks which was slightly disappointing if you’re looking for a beach day. Unless you like hiking/ boat trips there’s not really much to do.
Atmosphere- Pool gets very busy when it’s hot. Although it says you’re not allowed to reserve sunbeds - EVERYONE DOES. I didn’t at first, however as time went on you had to or you’d miss out. Evening entertaining is good at the hotel! Lively atmosphere and staff do try really hard to keep guests entertained!
Cleaning- Hotel is spotless!! Very clean everywhere, staff around all day constantly cleaning, tidying, making things look good.
Food- Food at hotel is the best all inclusive I’ve had before. Can’t fault the food, lots of different options. One thing I will say is the ‘themed’ restaurants do only have a set menu which is the same every night and if you don’t like it then it’s not an option.
Had a really nice stay, I personally wouldn’t book again due to the amount of kids/children. I thought booking before summer would avoid that but from now on I will only do adults only. The spa was lovely, which is adults only. The heated pool is abit of a shame it’s just kids splashing and screaming most of the day. Only thing I’d fault the hotel on is the hairdryer turns off after around 5 mins, and the shower seals were split so after a shower the bathroom was flooded ( after we unpacked we couldn’t be bothered to be moved ) so unsure if I’d say 5 star if I’m being really picky.
