Enjoying fantastic sea views, this comfortable hotel is conveniently situated on the main street of the Lido area of Funchal, the capital of Madeira. It features a large ocean-view terrace with an outdoor pool, a children's pool and a playground. Many restaurants and bars, shopping facilities and the wonderful promenade are just a short stroll away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Staff amazing, food gorgeous and rooms clean and tidy. The only thing that let our holiday down was the rain. We will be back
This was our first stay in Madeira. We were very happy with our stay at your hotel. We had a 5th floor room. We are glad we did as we had a sea view. We would recommend requesting this floor or above if you want a sea view. The hotel was clean. Our room was light and airy. We did not expect anything “fancy” . Our room was cleaned daily. Our towels were lovely and soft. The fridge was full sized. There was washing up liquid, a brush and tea towel provided. We were half board. We were more than happy with our meals. I like fish, there was always a good choice of both fish and meat dishes. The staff were polite and friendly. Always smiling. Roger the manager is very professional. The senior restaurant staff in particular were excellent. We didn’t want somewhere with loud music all night. The hotel is just the right size for us. When you go for a meal there are like minded people to have a conversation with. The hotel is a 40 minute flat walk to the bus station and cable car in Funchal. You can get the bus 001 and 002 there for 2.5 euros. The hotel has lots of information on getting around. We did a free walking tour of the historical part of the Island,on our first full day( you pay what you think it is worth at the end of the tour). We also did a tour of the East and one of the West of the Island. We took the bus from the bus station to Monte Palace Gardens which were excellent.
They treat you like cattle!!!! The hotel needs refurbishment and the staff needs training in customer service. Avoid them like the plague!!!!
Very disappointing experience at Dorisol Florasol Residence Hotel.
The apartment we received was extremely old, outdated, and completely different from the renovated apartment shown in the booking photos. Most importantly, it did not include the balcony that was clearly part of the booking description and voucher.
We specifically booked a renovated balcony apartment, but instead we were placed in an old apartment of a much lower standard. From outside the hotel it is clearly visible that most renovated apartments have balconies, yet the hotel still insisted that this was “a Transavia issue” and refused to take any responsibility.
The bathroom conditions were also unacceptable. The bathtub/shower drain was blocked, causing water to accumulate while showering, which created both an unhygienic and dangerous situation.
What was most shocking was the attitude of the hotel staff. Instead of apologizing or trying to properly solve the issue, they effectively preferred that we leave the hotel — which is ultimately what we had to do. At no point did the hotel apologize for the misleading advertisements and mismatch between the booked accommodation and the actual apartment provided.
This completely ruined the beginning of our holiday experience.
Would not recommend unless you are prepared to risk receiving an apartment very different from what is advertised.
Lovely friendly staff. Breakfast had plenty of choice - cheeses, hams, fresh fruit, pastries, cereal & full English. Only had 1 evening meal at Madeira night, a buffet along with folk group singing & dancing. Beds comfortable & a big room with kitchen, ( microwave, kettle,2 hobs, fridge, plus crockery & cutlery. ) Balcony looked onto sea ( on 7th floor) but rails quite rusty. The only let down was the cracked & mouldy tiles in the bathroom Bath was very slippery, & the extra long shower curtain didn't help. Definitely need a non slip mat in bath, also a shelf to put your toiletries. Pol good with separate toddlers pool. Never had a problem getting a sunbed, although not very comfortable as no mattresses on them. Also there is a shaded part with tables & chairs. Buses to centre are 4-5 mins away down steps, along with the tourist Hop On Bus. Supermarket & restaurants & taxi's very near as well. Madeira is not a very good place to visit if you have mobility problems, it is very steep & hilly.
