Located in the very centre of Funchal, in the heart of the historic centre, alongside the Palace of Jesuits, this dazzling boutique hotel arose from an innovative concept blending design, detailed architectural restoration and a welcoming atmosphere. The property is two steps away from the main shops, museums, restaurants and bars in the city. All the stylish and smartly appointed rooms and suites boast city and courtyard view. In some of these rooms there is a choice of fully furnished seating balcony and a fully equipped kitchenette with cooking facilities for a memorable stay. The hotel offers excellent facilities such as a lap swimming pool where guests will enjoy panoramic views overlooking the Bay of Funchal while tasting a refreshing drink in one of the sun loungers.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Everything was so perfect - location right in the centre and walking distance from main attractions as well as lovely restaurants. Food exquisite and not overly expensive despite being a hotel. Drinks also very reasonable. Pool and jacuzzi on the roof top is idyllic and whilst the spa is not huge, it is calm and welcoming. Best of all are the staff. Beautiful hotel and the very best staff, particularly on reception - wouldn’t stay anywhere else when I return.
Beautiful hotel Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful Gorgeous rooftop pool. Bars and breakfast restaurant were excellent Spacious room
Amazing hotel. Very good facilities, great food (breakfast, diner and tapas night) and lovely rooms. Perfect location, just above the harbor. Friendly personnel who are willing to help and nice clean rooms. We stayed for 9 nights and had the best time.
This beautiful hotel is located right at the heart of the city, minutes walk away from shops & restaurants. It’s a friendly & welcoming place with excellent facilities, the highlight being the rooftop pool & bar area which has fantastic views over Funchal. I was on a half board basis, with à la carte dinner served in the Tipographia restaurant. The food was excellent, flavoursome, and a nice variety to choose from. The service is smoothly run, the staff are all friendly and attentive. My room was spacious, with a large balcony facing out into the inner courtyard. Great facilities, mini bar, tea & coffee. Overall a lovely experience, a hotel I would recommend to anyone and one I would visit again in the future.
Our second stay at this boutique hotel in the heart of Funchal’s downtown, occupying a series of heritage buildings with traces of its history scattered throughout. Upon this trip we treated ourselves to a junior suite which was spacious and well equipped. The rooftop offers magnificent views over the city and the mountains, while the spa provides a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle. The hotel is a cluster of five different buildings. Yet they seamlessly blend into each other, thanks to a series of interior passages and the striking yellow façade that unites them all. You will always find a quiet spot in the shade or sun to relax, the roof top Sun deck, pool and bar whilst modest in size never feels crowded.
The customer service is a 5 star. The staff are always polite and friendly working hard to ensure our was the best.
Try the hotel restaurant Tipografia the À la carte menu is excellent. Mediterranean cuisine with a Portuguese touch. Superbly prepared and prepared, and good value.
For lighter meals (and a city view), head upstairs to Pretas upon the rooftop. TIP book the Sushi Night for an excellent dining experience.
Already planning our next stay.
