The hotel offers a fitness studio and a Wellness Centre which includes a sauna, Turkish baths, ice machine and 2 massage rooms to revitalise your body and mind with the best treatments and facilities. A restaurant and 3 bars are entrusted with wowing diners with the best of the local and international gastronomy.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We went to Funchal for a short trip and it was a great experience. The place itself was really well equipped. The gym was modern and the swimming pool was a huge bonus. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of options, and the staff members were genuinely friendly and helpful.
As I mentioned, the location was perfect. There are lots of amenities around — shops, restaurants, cafés — all within walking distance.
I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet, comfortable, and enjoyable few days in Funchal, Madeira.
The hotel was everything we hoped for , in a good location ,clean , modern , comfy beds and bedding and wonderful shower. The staff were all very friendly and helpful too.The rooftop bar was fab with great views and lovely cocktails made with care and flair. There was live music a couple of nights too. The pool area was spacious and clean and the pool refreshing but not too cold. There was plenty of sunbeds and the towels provided were a good size too. There is a bar and a handy water cooler to refill your bottles. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of choice we thoroughly enjoyed it every morning. They also do a snack menu for lunchtimes and they do evening meals too but we preferred to walk out every evening rather than eat in. If there was a small criticism it would be the hanging rail is only suitable for short items so a couple of hooks for longer skirts or dresses would be helpful perhaps on the wall opposite. There is a safe and tea and coffee facilities as well and the air con is very good. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Funchal.
The description of this hotel is an exaggeration of what we actually got on arrival. There was no mention of the adjacent building works. The “fully equipped balcony” was very small, 2 plastic chairs and a very small table approximately 3 square metres? And nowhere to dry towels, so guests were hanging them over the balcony! We booked the Junior Suite Deluxe Panoramic Sea View, which was the highest price point room in the hotel, although panoramic it was predominately land and building site views, most of the sea view was blocked by other balconies and the hotel building itself. The room boasted a coffee maker free of charge, it had a Nespresso coffee maker but if you used any capsules you had to pay 3 Euros for replacements. The mini bar had 2 Cokes, 2 sparkling waters and one beer again, if used, replacements were chargeable. The coffee cups were plastic with 2 small wooden sticks for stirring your beverages. The room had a comfortable bed, 2 sofas but no wardrobe just a hanging rail over a chest of drawers this arrangement did not long to accommodate even short dresses or a mans jacket. So nothing 4 star standard. On the positive side, all the staff we came into contact with were friendly, polite and helpful and the location was good. However we would not recommend this hotel. See photos.
The Allegro is a lovely hotel. Location is perfect for exploring the area and close enough to Funchal to explore on foot or using the buses. The pool is lovely and warm and peaceful with plenty of sunbeds. Food was perfect too.
Our favourite hotel in Madeira – we always enjoy coming back. We appreciate its excellent location close to the beach and the city centre, as well as its design, rooms, services, and highly professional staff. Over the years, we have noticed a positive development, and it is especially nice to see the very low staff turnover, which is a great sign in today’s world. We also value the well-equipped fitness centre, saunas, and swimming pool. In the evenings, we enjoy relaxing at the rooftop bar.
