As the hotel is built where there used to be an old sugar cane mill, the current decoration is based on this concept. Beautiful Hotel
A beautiful hotel for relaxing and spending time. Loved eating at Trapiche restaurant; great food and cocktails, and always a friendly welcome from Carmen. I would highly recommend using local taxi driver Nelson Lala; he was always on time and had great knowledge of places to go on the island, making getting around Madeira easier, as he was so reliable and friendly. His son, who also works for him, is equally reliable and a very good driver. Madeira is a beautiful island, and it's definitely worth trying to see as much of it as you can.

A pleasant stay, great position of the hotel, nice architecture,
Location - Pleasant spot! Atmosphere-romantic, genuinely tropical and dramatic! Room - pleasant suite, ocean view for real! Value-overpriced as poor general cleaning cannot be awarded! Noise level- i was not disturbed in any way, good insulation during the night time; Service- in general I shall say above standard level; however there are some things to ve greatly improved.
Relaxing hotel and perfect location
This hotel is perfectly located by the ocean and we loved the relaxed and quiet vibe. We stayed in a side ocean view suite which had a comfy bed, separate lounge, kitchenette, large balcony and a rainfall shower. The low lighting was relaxing but at times impractical when applying makeup or shaving. We really enjoyed the infinity pool area and the Trapiche restaurant, which offered a great menu and lovely views. Our only criticism was the Engenho buffet restaurant, as we found the food at both breakfast and dinner was poor quality and overpriced. Overall though this is an excellent hotel and we’d happily stay again.

Beautiful hotel with great food, but room for improvement in service
We had a wonderful stay at Saccharum during our honeymoon. The hotel is beautiful, the atmosphere is lovely, and we really enjoyed the excellent food and wine.
The only thing that disappointed us was the service at the beach bar and restaurant. Unfortunately, the staff rarely came by to check if everything was okay or if we wanted another drink. Sometimes we even had to get up to place an order, and the waiting times were quite long.
We don't expect luxury treatment or someone looking after our every move. Just friendly, attentive restaurant service that makes guests feel welcome and well looked after. We believe a little more attention and good staff training could make a big difference.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. With a little improvement in service, this hotel could be truly exceptional!
