Vilamoura Golf Hotel e Apartamentos

2nd time staying here and almost everyone we spoke to have stayed previously usually several times, I did a previous review but deleted it as it wasn't a fair assessment. We booked here again due to us loving the peace and quiet, the ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS staff, the superb cleanliness, the great food and beautiful gardens, we travelled initially in June and returned in September. On our second day all hell let loose with a gang of drunken lads who arrived, broke chairs, threw beer over each other, lewd acts in a public place, disgusting language and no consideration for other guests, however they were warned twice by management and told if this continued they would have to leave the premises, so well done for handling this quickly. All the other groups of golfers behaved impeccably, just a shame these louts didn't know how to behave.

These apartments are well worth the money and I recommend them if you're looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful though not luxurious. The pool area is lovely and peaceful, never overcrowded and always with plenty of places to sit in the shade or the sun. The pool itself is perfect in temperature and size for the number of guests. The hotel is very close to a small supermarket and within east walking distance of a bigger one. Getting food is really easy and the supermarkets are much more reasonably priced than here in the UK with an amazing selection of fruit and vegetables. Cooking the food is a bit more difficult as you only get a microwave and a hob in the apartment and our hob barely worked. (I boiled fresh pasta on it for half an hour and it was still hard!) The hotel is also walking distance from the beach and the marina, and local buses, so it's convenient for day trips. The only downside of the hotel is that the rooms/apartments themselves are not very comfortable. They are a good size and are kept clean (though sometimes housekeeping don't come until late afternoon) but every piece of furniture is very hard, and there are no pictures on the walls or other homey touches to make it feel more comfortable. The mattresses are so hard they gave me back ache which lasted for weeks. Ultimately you get what you pay for and this place is not expensive for what you get. It is worth the money and we really enjoyed our stay.

Very clean and everything in our room is in very good condition. However, our room 515 is in the bowels of the hotel with no view at all, just a wall and it’s tiny with no sun at all. This is our last day and we are well travelled so can say it’s a beautiful hotel for relaxing and great for golfers ( obviously). Do not come here if you want music or noise. We didn’t try the food but the cocktails weren’t great good for 8 euros. I was woken by someone in an apartment above using the toilet then showering and the room doors are very very poorly sound proofed. I can hear everything. We leave tomorrow and I think the staff need to make contact and smile much more because currently they don’t at all, apart from Edwardo who was very helpful and did smile when we passed.
