Albacora - we'll be back !
Recently returned from a wonderful 10 day stay at this hotel. 1.3miles from Tavira Old Town centre, 40 mins drive from Faro Airport. Location is accessed thru the lanes surrounding the salt pans. A car isn't necessary - we discovered Uber ! The hotel no longer has a shuttle bus into Tavira. An ideal stay for children with a pool, play area and easy access to the beach. Recommend an omelette at the buffet breakfast, cooked to order with cheese, mushrooms, whatever you choose. A la Carte dinners didn't change during the week. Friendly Reception staff speaking good English (and several other languages) and 'Shiva' their friendly resident Mouser was very evidently in charge (hope you like cats ! ). The on site Spa is a bonus. Good solid comfy beds, fridge and safe, Wifi in our room. No tea/coffee making facilities - pods can be ordered at Reception at one Euro each. A ferry from Tavira Old Town takes you to Tavira Island beach. Praia dos Tasos is a closer beach within walking distance of Albacora Hotel, just below Fort do Rato.

Good authentic hotel situated in nature.
Good hotel situated in a very beautiful evironment. The picture doesnt do this justice, but gives an impression. There was a salina with a lot of flamingo’s nearby. The dinner buffet could be improved, but breakfast was good and the a la carte dinner was excellent. I definitely recommend eating a la carte. There was not much adult entertainment, but a lot for kids. The rooms where okay, very authentic and cosy. Very friendly staff. The garden was also very nice. You could take a boat trip to the island nearby or walk on the beach.
Golf trip
Nice hotel, good staff, good food. Rooms a bit on the small side but then again how much time do you spend in them. A bit outside Tavera, but the water taxi is a nice run in. Recommended

Poor cleaning, spiders and bugs inside the rooms
They have a systemic problem with pest control inside the rooms (spiders and other bugs). The reception staff was helpful to the possible extent, but that's not enough. The Management replied with an e-mail with some generic statements, but from previous reviews there is no real intent to address this issue. Other guests were complainining of the same during our short stay. Not recommended.
Great environment - super beach - not adequate rooms
A lot of positive things: the exceptional location in a natural preserve, the Hotel itself (old tuna factory), the best PT beach close by (by boat), the pool area … BUT: rooms are pretty dark (especially the one with only one door and no window); was sold to us as upgrade - funny. The bathrooms are ok, Matress pretty old, furniture as well. Cleanliness also a topic. In addition really bad coffee machines; so we switched to the only normal tea (camille). For the rates (200+) the rooms are too expensive. Again - the environment is superb - but rooms are by far not.
