Set beside the scenic marina in Portimão, NH Marina Portimão Resort offers a relaxing base to enjoy the laid-back beach life of the Algarve. Just under 45 kilometres from Faro Airport, the resort is perfectly positioned near Praia da Rocha beach, and within easy reach of local shops, restaurants, and family attractions. On-site parking adds to the convenience for those exploring the coast by car.
The resort is divided into three areas – Marina Sun, Marina Deck, and Marina Beach – all within walking distance of the pools, restaurants, and bars. If you’d rather not walk, a complimentary buggy service is available to take you comfortably around the resort, including to and from Praia da Rocha.
There are three outdoor saltwater pools, including one large main pool, and one for children, surrounded by sunbeds and umbrellas. Guests can also make use of the 24hr on-site gym, while younger travellers will enjoy the seasonal children’s club and entertainment.
Start your day with a generous breakfast showcasing local Portuguese flavours, served fresh each morning. The main restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner, offering a menu of seasonal dishes made with quality ingredients. For something more casual, enjoy light bites or a refreshing drink at the hotel’s main bar or the poolside bar during the summer months.
The resort is made up of comfortable, air-conditioned studios and apartments, spread across three areas – Marina Sun, Marina Deck, and Marina Beach. Each accommodation option features a private balcony or terrace with views over the marina, pool, or gardens. Inside, you’ll find a dining area, well-equipped kitchenette, and modern home comforts including Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and essential appliances.
I loved my stay here, the room was huge, there was so much space it was great (the cheaper rooms are smaller but perfectly comfortable and functional). We had a balcony and a terrace which housed sun loungers and a table and chairs set, this was a lovely touch - truly maximising the time spent in the sun. We booked half board, we were very impressed with the breakfast selection served each morning from 0730-1000, there were so many different options. Option to have a fresh omelette cooked for you there and then which was a nice touch. Selection of eggs - scrambled, fried and boiled. Traditional ‘English Breakfast’ food choices, which I was very happy about. Selections of fruit, cereals, breads, pastries, toast, seeds, nuts, cakes, pancakes and so much more, it was a great spread.
Sadly, our evening meals were disappointing; we disliked the main options provided in the buffet. Although, not enough for it to be of any significance if/when choosing to revisit the hotel!
The T Bone Steak Restaurant was absolutely delicious, I couldn’t fault a single thing. The steak was cooked to my liking, the portion size was great, the selection of sides were incredibly tasty and overall I was really impressed. Definitely give here a try!
Location is great, a short walk from the main shopping and dining area and plenty of little shops along the way for those last minute bits. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Delicious ice cream served at every place I went to. Very very close to the beach, and of course the Marina which is stunning. The location and hotel itself is beautiful.
The pool was great too, always had a sunbed available (handy terrace space at the room available if not although I’m not sure if this depends on your personal room but from what I could see they all had them) and the pool was occupied but not busy - the most I saw at any given time were 5 people. At one point I completely forgot the hotel accommodates children, I saw so few of them.
Overall, I would definitely return. The staff were lovely too, very accommodating and friendly and were very attentive to all the guests needs.
I hope this review helps someone decide if they want to book here, I would definitely recommend it.
Excellent service from all the staff, great location for a pool/beach holiday & perfect spot on the marina
This was our first stay in Portimao/Praia da Rocha. We would love to return again someday soon. The hotel was in a perfect location. Our room overlooked the harbour/marina. It was fun to watch the comings and goings each day from our balcony. We booked a premium 1 bed room apartment with roof terrace. It didn't have any shade so was rather too hot to enjoy the sunbeds up there. However, we never had any problems finding sunbeds by the pool. We stayed bed and breakfast which we really enjoyed each morning. A short stroll takes you to the beautiful beach of Praia da Rocha. We watched the stage being set up for the 3 day AfroNation music festival, taking place just after we left. The "strip" above the beach is the usual mix of bars and restaurants. As in other parts of The Algarve this is reached by climbing many steps. So not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the busy resort.
What a beautiful place to stay. Great location. Very walkable to main street and beach. Staff very friendly/ breakfast incredible-can eat outside while you enjoy the view. Marina makes easy access to water taxi across the water or for excursions. It is a quiet but lovely marina.
Ate at the steakhouse T-Bone. Was delicious and service was superb. Humberto served us the entire evening and made the atmosphere welcoming and memorable. Even brought out dessert with a candle and prosecco for my grandmother’s birthday!
