Excellently located directly on the beautiful sandy beach of Praia da Rocha, this elegant contemporary style hotel enjoys fantastic views over the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The marina of Portimão is only minutes away, the centre of Portimão, the biggest town on the western part of the Algarve, the Portimão museum and the Fort of Santa Catarina are within easy reach. Adjacent to the hotel is a casino.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Do not hesitate to book - this is such an amazing hotel ! My boyfriend and I stayed here for just under a week and our expectations were succeeded by so much.
The location is beyond amazing - literally on the beautiful beach with free concession loungers included and beautiful pool that looks out to the ocean also with free loungers. So a private pool and beach basically it was so nice!
The staff made it - non stop smiles and always helping guests out they were so hard working.
The breakfast off the charts - massive buffet with fresh and tasty foods - kept us going till dinner time 🤣
We haven’t stopped raving about this hotel since we came home, thank you Hotel Algarve Casino.
So normally don’t do reviews as my trips tend to turn out ok, but here we go, check in was not the best, the man that checked us in was arrogant and quite self centered. The room , at best and I’m being generous is a 3 star, the flooring is from when the hotel opened, we had bird crap on the balcony, paint cracking, detritus in the drain at the edge of the patio, broken/ missing patio door handle , bed was comfortable, linen fresh and clean, the bathroom very out dated, the shower especially poor. The view and the beach good, the pool was good. Overall the location is good but this is by no means a 5 star hotel. I asked the management on 8/1 to have the music turned down as there was a private party happening between 4 and 7 pm as it was so loud my wife and I thought the event was actually happening within our room but I was basically told just to suck it up!!! Please it’s not all bad but the hotel is dated and in need of modernizing, especially in the room we stayed in 835…
A lovely well positioned hotel on the beach. Rooms were spacious but a bit dark. The rooms facing the street had no balcony & quite noisy at night but fine with the windows closed. The pool was lovely and there are plenty of sunbeds. Breakfast was good too.
The hotel food is very expensive - 15 euros for two plates of chips. Overall though a great hotel.
Perfect place to stay for family of 4. Close to the beach and lots of food options. We stayed on a B&B so had breakfast every day which was plentiful and well organised. The room was nice enough with good AC and WiFi access, bathroom shower could have been more modern but it was more than adequate
On arrival for a 5 star hotel which i have never been to before only 4 star i have always been welcomed with a verbal warm welcome and a drink but here there was no warm welcome no drink, i did get a smile but first word was passports! This process took a long time and on waiting patiently i was just given an envelope saying everything you need to know is in there. Fine got over not feeling that welcome. Location itself as in beach front was beautiful. The place to get around we walked but wasn't aware it wasn't buggie/pram friendly at all. They had a slope at front enterence and to get to the main pool from the hotel but was stairs to the kids pool and many to get dpen to the beach. No slopes i could see at all and certainly wasnt told of any. The room itself was big with a beautiful view as stated in the description didnt really have any issues with the room apart from my daughters room had ants crawling everywhere to the point where they were all in her bed and not sure how the cleaners didnt see this and sort however by day 2 we told reception and it did get resolved . We paid for bed and breakfast so was looking forward to the first part of that experience the next day, when we arrived and front of restaurant we was asked the room numbers and I replied quickly with 23 24 25 and I was just frowned upon with nothing spoken back to me, my daughter realised I never said the ground level of one so when I said that he said follow me. We arrived around 9am and was seated. Then was left to work it out. The food was something I had never ever experience before as in everything I tried was cold! Bacon cold, hash brown cold Mushroom cold and wasn't pleasant in taste at all. The coffee machine had no spoons by it, the cereal station had no spoon by it for my baby daughter and had to ask who didnt understand what i was saying and asked another staff member to which another guest had said they had already also asked for some too. This was all such a slow process with no rush at all in the matter. Lots of food was empty and not quickly replenished. The porridge was freezing cold which was what I wanted for my baby, the fruit was going bad - i choose a peach and was turning bad, the rest of fruit wasn't fresh it was in syrup. The room was tiny compared to how many guest there was and with the food table which was very small being in the middle of the room everyone was constantly crowded around it. For example even the toaster was laid out in not a way people could flow around it, the bread was one side which you then had to come the other side to put in the toaster then back to the same side as the bread is to collect it, imagine 8 people around it , just didn't work!. We the went to pool, we see waiters around the pool a few times but was never asked for a drink not once ? I went to the restaurant bar to ask fpr one in the end which was such a long process from asking to paying to getting it. The lift then broke down on first day which then delayed so much getting around as everyone was using the other. We also met the cleaners in way back to room at some point not one smile from any. The second day at breakfast we was greeted for the first time ever by any member of staff Jose' who was warm and lovely and felt welcome for the first time. But breakfast was even worse for being empty cold and not nice at all, my older kids didnt eat again after day 1 of stay as didnt like it that much, but I had a baby and had to feed her, I never had anything as just wasn't nice or what I wanted was empty or just to crowded to even bother! We was hungry one day so decided to eat lunch at hotel which was a disaster, no one even come to our table until we prompted them. Again for a 5 star hotel we expected the ultimate experience and quality of food. We ordered a simple pannini which come out not hot and cold cheese inside, for 5 star that is just not good enough. There was no other interaction with staff and that was the end of our stay. Eating out in Portugal was lovely in every place we ate at their staff was lovely in every one. I am really really disappointed in my experience in this hotel for the price I paid which was for my 40th birthday celebration. And gutted about it really.
