Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Me and my sister stayed here for 4 nights, after reading the reviews we was really hesitant and worried and sadly the reviews were correct, after calling the hotel a day before to check our room would be clean the guy who answered was very rude and made us feel stupid answering “what is the point in this phone call”, when we arrived he just gave us a broken key card and said your “room is at the back” we had no idea where we was going ect, the facilities such as the pools were fairly clean but the loungers and the shower rooms where absolutely filthy! The running water in the shower room was brown! Our room was very poor, stains on bed sheet, broken plug socket, air con broken, a leaking boiler to there being water everywhere!! we complained to reception the next day and they didn’t even apologise they gave us a new key card and replied “ move next door”, this room was slightly better. Checking out no staff were at reception so we left the key on the side with no choice, anyone could of walked in that hotel as no staff on reception barely ever, the only good thing about this place was the location being on top of the beach but overall we would NEVER return sadly, this place does need a serious revamp as well as customer service training and basic hygiene and health and safety training. Very very disappointed.
100% not a 4* hotel more like a poor 3* Ok if you’re on a tight budget, get a good deal and don’t want to spend much time in the room. Location not too far from beach about 5-10 minute walk. Atmosphere quiet, mostly families. No organised activities. Value average. Cleanliness in the rooms is not the worst but definitely not best. Service - there isn’t really any because the staff just check you in and that’s it. In the restaurant the food for breakfast (starts at 8am) is average but edible but the coffee is awful! The pool that gets used the most next to kids pool is murky. Never saw anyone clean anything in the pool area, reception area etc. The maids at the room are polite and helpful, make beds, clean bathroom, replace toilet rolls and provide fresh towels daily. The room are very dated, Wikipedia says the hotel was last renovated in 2010 which certain areas probably have like the pool but the room we stayed in no.25 ground floor definitely hasn’t seen changes since the early 90s so about 30 years! There are peeling patches on walls where it must get damp in winter, aircon units are deep yellow rather than white, curtains are holey and old but do block out sun. The beds are quite comfortable, linen is clean, pillows are ok. There is a fridge but nothing else fo self-catering, not even a kettle. The shower area has some mould spots and curtain needs replacing. There is always hot water when showering and washing. One upholstered dining style chair that looks minging and I would only use to put my case on. A grubby small plastic garden table but no chairs to sit at with and one grotty lounger on terrace at front door to too . It says no smoking but there’s smoking waste and empty packets strewn about in the gardens outside room. It could be really lovely with proper funding and management. The adult pool area needs a good jet washing, so do the sun loungers which are all sagging and need replacing. There are a few hanging style beds but not maintained so don’t look inviting. There is a pool bar that has a private businessman running it, the cocktails were nice, cold sodas for 3€ and a few hot snacks and ice creams etc to buy. The supermarket is the other end of the town so a bit of a walk down the main road. There are dilapidated tennis courts that can be used. One plus is there is a scuba diving school right next to hotel that uses hotel pool in there learners package before the take you to sea so that’s convenient if you fancy 120€ per person activity.
Oh my gosh, how this can be called a 4 star is beyond me
The pool area is so dirty, piles of cigarette butts on the floor, still there days later. Loungers are filthy, broken, covered in bird poo and god knows what else
The toilets and changing rooms are disgusting, reminded me of school changing rooms in the 80s yet worse. Filthy, stained curtains, no soap or tissues in the toilet, flies everywhere around the toilet
Reception and bar area so dated, I would not recommend
I don’t get what these reviews are about, the hotel was lovely, our room was amazing and spacious, the pool area was clean. The man on the bar is an absolute diamond always nice and friendly. The area is amazing just a quick little walk to the beach. The guy on reception at night that feeds Logan was very nice as well. The breakfast was good as well- you’re obviously not gonna get a full English in Portugal which I don’t think a lot of people understand but the breakfast was good 👍🏼 Overall I would really recommend this hotel, staff lovely, area amazing and our room was fantastic. Don’t let these picky people put you off booking here !!!
Was told that breakfast was from 8- 9.30 so no chance of a lie in. If you missed breakfast you either had to wait for the pool bar to open at 10 to get a toastie, burger etc or walk down to the promenade. The breakfast was the same every day no bacon BTW! Boiled eggs ,scrambled eggs, fried eggs,.small frankfurter, tinned mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, sliced potatoes, sliced sausage, baked beans. That was your hot (Luke watm) selection.! Cold selection of cheese, cold meats, sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers & pickles. Yogurts.. Tea & coffee out of urns with cereals & tropical & orange juice, then another section of bread rolls, sliced bread , muffins & cakes & two toasters. There is no shops near hotel to buy food or anything. There is also no parasols around the pools or a working telephone in the rooms, love holidays website needs to be updated. The sunbeds are all worn out dirty looking. We were there from 7-20thJune 2026 and not once were our sheets changed! I don’t think they even had a cloth in their hands to clean the bathroom,,they never even swept the floors properly if at all, let alone wash them! The poolside changing/ shower rooms were a disgrace with stained curtains and tiles. Rusty toilet pans overflowing bins filthy full stop. The local seagulls likes to frequent the pools & leave their mess everywhere . There is no way that they can clean around the pools as there are no drains , so any water laying around goes into the pools.which we saw happen as the painters were there with a jet wash on the walls to clean before painting and the water ran into the baby pool!! The painters were on site early jet washing ,scraping, talking loudly to each other all day while we were there. ( we weren’t told that there was decorators on site)
There is no entertainment or reps here so you get to find out from word of mouth were things are like the two supermarkets, spar & Baptista were a good 20mins walk way if you wanted to get any food or buy water, a 5ltr water for €1.15 or pay €2 for 1.5 ltr at hotel! Getting a bus to Lagos is well worth the 20 mins ride €1.60 each way or get a return ticket for €3 goes to Lagos bus terminal. Get of here and visit the lovely marina & town. Well worth the trip out.
The flower beds around the pool needed weeding & watering in need of a good maintenance.
The walk to the beach is approx 700 steps away which is lovely by the way, you can rent two beds & parasol for the day for €17 after 3pm it’s €13.
