The hotel is perfectly situated just a short stroll to the most amazing clean beach. From the moment you enter the hotel the cleanliness is evident the housekeeping staff do an amazing job, from cleaning your room ever day to changing the towels when needed. The hotel has adopted an environmental policy doing away with plastic in many areas of the hotel, to water saving in the rooms. The staff as always are very welcoming and happy to help. The food is of a very good quality and for all tastes, from breakfast various hot choices to continental and fresh fruit available. Dinner is much the same, choices of fish and meat dishes and freshly grilled food also salads pasta and an array of sweets every night. The restaurant and bar staff are very friendly and they went out of their way to make the holiday extra special for our two grandsons who had an amazing time.
Excellent location right by the beach and boardwalk which our room looked over. We stayed for 4 nights and chose a standard sea view room. Our room was spotless and fairly spacious with a good size balcony with amazing ocean views. We had everything we needed in the room but the furniture and bathroom are definitely dated, as is the hotel decor in general. Breakfast was good with a reasonable choice, hot selection could have been better but we definitely didn’t go hungry. Staff were efficient and polite but not overly friendly and welcoming. We would stay again due to the excellent location. A refurbishment would turn this hotel into something very special but as it is its value for money and comfortable.
Arrived late due to airline no kettle or drink making facilities in room,so I asked for a kettle and was told they would provide one but never did. As we were tired thought we would eat in the 1st night as we were only B&B there was no advertised price list as it was a buffet style dinner. We both had a salad and one bottle of beer each when we went to pay the bill €76 was flabbergasted, apparently it's a fixed charge of €35 per head for food. The room was spacious with a fridge and TV bath with overhead shower and a toilet that didn't flush so we had to use a bin which we filled with water to use as a flusher. Every morning and evening during shower times at various places in the hotel water dripped down onto the tiled floors making them slippy and dangerous. The pool was nice with a bar and reataurant which was reasonable averaged about 10 to 15 euros for a meal/ snack and will put on a tab for you against your room number. I paid mine when leaving the pool but was charged again on checkout so ended up paying €15 for a beer in a plastic cup and a small bottled water showed the receptionist the receipt but she was still adamant I had not paid so I couldn't be bothered to argue as I wanted to leave as I had enough of the holiday which was awful from start to finish. On a positive note there are plenty of places to eat locally which do excellent food and drinks at cheaper prices than the hotel.
Vasco Da Gama. The hotel was clean and friendly. The staff were friendly and helpful. Any problems you can contact reception but we didn’t need it. From the hotel it was just a small stroll to the lovely clean beach. Which we would walk along after breakfast. The pool was great and really good size. We enjoyed swimming there. We only had breakfast which there was plenty to choose from cold meats etc and hot food bacon, eggs etc.In the evenings we ate in the town with plenty of options to choose from. After our evening walk we went to the bar. That was our only gripe, just Portuguese music which we didn’t know. The entertainment music wasn’t very good compared to our last hotel in Olhas de Aguas where the entertainment was really good. But one the whole we enjoyed it. Would definitely go back there.
Just returned from a magnificent 10 night stay in this beautiful Hotel. First impressions on walking through the door and entering the room were that it was a bit dated but it really does add to the charm of this lovely Hotel. We were lucky to have a 5th floor seaview room with very large open terrace equiped with a table and 2 chairs and a couple of Sun loungers. The view of the Grounds, Beach and Sea was outstanding. The air conditioning was a god send with the sweltering nightime temperatures. The room was large and very comfortable with 2 larger than usual single beds, good shower and bags of storage. Added bonus that the safe was free. We were Half Board but rarely do breakfast but the evening fare was excellent. A real variety to suit all tastes. The Soup of the Day never failed to impress and the salad bar was unreal. We spent most of the day lounging round the pool as the heat was tremendous during the day and never had to rush down to grab a bed or a much needed parasol. Lunch was always spent at the pool bar where a really good variety was on offer at very reasonable prices. There is a lovely bar for the evening with nightly sedate entertainment and a gorgeous outside area with comfortable seating overlookin the pool and grounds. A really nice setting for winding down the evening. I would have given our stay a 5* but I feel that one matter really does need addressing. The staff in the main dining room work really hard but they look terribly overworked and desperately understaffed. Those that are in attendance do not seem to understand what reading a room is. Trying to get their attention can be extremely difficult as they simply don't make eye contact. You really shouldn't have to go chasing them down in order to ask a simple question or request your wine. Small niggle but one which distracted from the pleasure of dining. Would we stay here again ? Absolutely, but probably earlier in the season when the risk of suffering the blistering heatwave we endured is a little less likely.
