- Boutique Hotel Vivenda Miranda

This hotel is located near Lagos just a few minutes walk from the city centre where guests will discover countless shops, boutiques, cafés, bars, restaurants and lively nightlife venues. The nearest beach is a few paces away (100 m) and links to the public transport network may easily be reached on foot, lying 600 m from the hotel.
This luxury hotel underwent extensive renovations in 2002 and comprises a total of 29 rooms of which 4 are suites. Amongst the facilities count a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, a boutique, a bar and a restaurant. Those arriving by car may make use of the hotel car park and garage facilities and a laundry service rounds off the facilities.
The comfortable rooms each come with a bathroom with a shower, a hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a minibar, central heating, a balcony or terrace and a hire safe.
In the outdoor complex is a heated swimming pool as well as a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols laid out ready for use. Leisure options include a sauna, steam baths, a massage service and various spa treatments and sports enthusiasts may play tennis or golf, which are on offer nearby.
Guests may select their breakfast from an ample buffet; special dietary requirements and individual-specific dishes can be provided.
My stay at Vivenda Miranda was disappointing from start to finish.
The biggest issue was that the air conditioning in my room wasn’t working upon arrival. For a hotel charging well over $400 per night, I expected this to be addressed immediately or for an alternative solution to be offered. Instead, nothing meaningful was done, and I was left feeling like the problem simply wasn’t a priority.
What made the experience even more frustrating was the attitude of the staff. Throughout my stay, I was repeatedly told “no” to even simple requests, and on multiple occasions I was treated as though I didn’t belong on the property or wasn’t actually a guest. The tone changed dramatically the moment I explained that I was staying at the hotel, at which point the same staff members suddenly became overly accommodating. That inconsistency came across as dismissive and frankly off-putting.
A luxury hotel is about more than beautiful views and marketing photos. It’s about hospitality, service, and making guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, Vivenda Miranda fell short in all three areas during my stay.
For the price point, there are far better options in the area. I left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and convinced that I would not return. I cannot recommend staying here.
Absolutely loved this hotel! First our room was huge for Europe, even had two bathrooms. The bright colors and decor weren’t exactly our style but we didn’t really care about that. Two outdoor seating areas on the patio. Views were amazing. Meals served outdoors at the restaurant were great. Staff was excellent.
Came for lunch, what a glorious setting, the location is just divine, with beautifully laid terrace tables overlooking the most stunning panoramic scene of ocean and pristine garden. This backdrop must surely rival any on the Algarve. I’d noted some reviews alluding to poor service and a no-can-do attitude, and initially felt a little of that. Arriving 15 minutes ahead of my table reservation, I waited in the bar, but nobody came to offer a drink. I trotted over to the restaurant to announce my arrival to the guy setting up and was met with a dismissive ‘not open yet’ before then consulting his watch and seeing the clock had actually struck 1230pm. Not a great first impression. To be fair, he did warm up quickly….becoming positively jovial. This lunch went on to be my best meal in a fortnight long trip to Lagos. My tuna main course was absolutely superb, cooked to perfection, and very artistically presented. Nice wine and cocktails too.
Am currently staying at this hotel and the restaurant and food are great, views amazing and it’s quiet. But in all honesty my room 8B is the one they don’t show on the website because it seems to have been a storeroom that has been made into a room. It is riddled with cockroaches. Staff are friendly but only as much as necessary; they don‘t go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Breakfast staff remove your plates before you are finished eating, which got a bit frustrating.
Overall as a solo female traveler, I cannot give a great review, which is a shame. Please urgently take care of the cockroach problem in that room! I expect more from a 4 star hotel. Thank you
Wow... what a destination - that was our first impression when we walked into the hotel. The hotel sits on a bluff overlooking a spectacular, cliff-lined beach. The restaurant, pool, and garden all revolve around this viewpoint, which makes for spectacular sunsets and satisfying sunbathing. The beach is walking distance (though a hill makes it a bit of a trudge), and Ponta da Piedade is a short hike away for those that don't mind longer treks.
The rooms themselves were good, not exceptional. (Note: we stayed in one of their more economical rooms with no view... which may be the right balance for the budget traveler). The bed was two twins pushed together, and the floor space was limited (not cramped), which felt very standard for a European boutique hotel like this. That said, the bar, the restaurant, and pool deck were all highlight locations and where we wanted to spend out time anyway.
I do need to should out to the staff. From the front desk to the bar staff to the restaurant staff to the housekeeping staff, the folks working at Vivenda Miranda were all extraordinarily personable and helpful. In some ways, the staff felt almost like a cruise ship where we started to build relationships, engage in running jokes, and continue conversations with the folks we'd see every day. I can recall few hotels with such a fun staff.
Overall, a great place to stay in Algarve.
