Very nice and really calm hotel with friendly staff, amazing setting and landscape. Great facilities at the health center to keep the shape. Two really nice pools 1 outside and 1 inside with the spa. Amazing bedrooms with everything you need, beds extremely comfortable. Great restaurant with nice meals and breakfast. Great location too near beach and port.
Special mention to Roberto a really nice, attentive and professional man who led the yoga, Pilates and meditation class with really good exercises for every levels and meditation script made by himself. He also led the aqua gym class with Ines dynamic and cheerful.
By no stretch of the imagination is this a 5-star resort. The rooms are very tired and in desperate need of updating, the shower had almost no power, and having only two sun loungers provided for a family of six was completely inadequate.
The biggest let-downs, however, were the freezing cold swimming pool, the incredibly limited shuttle bus service, and the check-in process. The pool was so cold that even the kids were shivering after only a short time in the water, which completely took away from what should have been one of the highlights of the holiday.
The check-in experience got the holiday off to a terrible start. We arrived at around 11am but couldn't get into our room until 4pm. I've stayed at many resorts over the years and have never had to sit around for five hours with all our luggage waiting to check in. There was no effort made to have the room ready any earlier or to make the wait any easier.
The shuttle bus into town is a joke. It only runs at 10am, unlike many other resorts that offer several services throughout the day, making it far less convenient than expected.
Breakfast was another frustration. If you go after 8:30am, expect long queues and food that is slow to be replenished.
Overall, this resort fell well short of the standards expected of a five-star property. With so many excellent places to stay in the Algarve, I genuinely can't understand why anyone would choose Vale d'Oliveiras. I certainly wouldn't return or recommend it.
For years we have avoided revisiting holiday bases. This hotel broke that mould completely last year. We could not wait to return.
From the efficient and friendly reception, the immaculate accommodation, very good food at all meals and lovely facilities it ticks all our family’s boxes. The group ranged from 3 to 75, yet no one had a bad word to say. Youngsters have a lovely pool, plus an activity club if they wish. Adults can relax in the gardens or round the pool.
Yes, it is in the countryside but UBER is very reliable. We chose half board but you can self-cater if you wish, with a good selection of supermarkets close by. The hotel drinks aren’t cheap but certainly not over-priced.
This is a gem of an hotel. I would say perhaps 4 rather than 5 star, but a really lovely Place to relax.
I’ve held off leaving this reviews until I received feedback directly, but to no avail. I’m still in shock how this hotel is listed as 5* The staff from very first arriving were rude, obnoxious and unhelpful. Room was not ready even though they asked our arrival time. Made to wait till bang on check in time. No cleaners left our allocated apartment. So it was ready. We were an hour later than the time we said we’d arrive. Only 40 mins earlier that official check in. So this felt very petty. We asked for a 5th chair for the patio dining table. Told no! When asked why, we were told “it’s just the way it is” There were 5 of us staying in the accommodation. So was 1 person expected to stand for the duration of the stay. How is that 5 star service. Litter left all week in bushes around the pool. Bins not emptied till late morning from the day before. Overflow left on the ground. Broken umbrellas, dangerous. Shower areas filthy. Days before debris left in a pile outside the children’s club. Large cracks in glass windows outside children’s club. The list goes on.
We booked this accommodation based on it having 2 bathrooms. We weren’t told they shared a communal shower. How is that functional for 2 separate families?
The only plus side was that the accommodation itself for the most part was somewhat clean. Although very dated and didn’t match the pictures advertised. Mouldy bath mats and lots of rust in the bathroom. Outside patio area was never swept as constant covering of ants on crumbs etc. We did not raise in resort as only there a week and with already disgruntled staff members we made do. What could they change in a week?
Location- not good unless you have a car or pay for taxis daily. It's fairly remote and not ideal for those who
wish to explore the local towns etc. The rooms are fine but I would hesitate to say 5 stars! Definitely not IMO.
The public areas are lovely and well tended to.
The breakfast food was fabulous as was evening meals but the menu needs to be changed a couple of times a week.
Staff are fine but not overly informative or friendly- exception, Jose, Carla and Elisa who were always smiling and attentive to everyone. Great ambassadors for the hotel.
Rodrigues, on reception, needs to develop his people skills. He told me my perfume wasn’t nice!!!
A beautiful surrounding and great for families but not best venue for older couples who aren’t interested in just sitting around day in, day out.
