⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Restful Family Break at RR Alvor Baía Resort
Our family holiday at RR Alvor Baía Resort was a really enjoyable and memorable break. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side and it rained for much of our stay, but we decided not to let that define the holiday — and we still came away with some great family memories.
The resort itself is comfortable, spacious and very family-friendly. It was the kind of holiday where we could genuinely slow down, rest and enjoy being together.
The hotel added in a little treat for the wife on her birthday - free bubbly and cake. Thank you @team
One of the unexpected positives was how affordable the taxis were. This made getting around very easy as a family and meant the rain didn’t completely restrict us.
We also enjoyed walking into Alvor town. Rather than simply staying within the resort, the walk gave us a much better feel for the local area and Portuguese life. Our trips out to explore the beautiful Algarve coastline and seaside were another highlight — this really is a lovely part of Portugal.
I also heard that some well-known Portuguese footballers have invested in the resort. If true, it’s an interesting connection and perhaps shows the potential people see in the development.
Would I call it a perfect holiday? Not quite. There were moments when we felt the resort could offer a little more to elevate the overall experience, particularly when poor weather keeps families spending more time on site.
But when we consider the rest, family time, accessibility, inexpensive taxis and opportunities to explore Alvor and the Algarve, the positives definitely outweighed the negatives.
Sometimes a great family holiday isn’t about everything being perfect — it’s about the memories you bring home.
A good, restful and memorable 4-star family experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The staff is not vert friendly. You can hardly see them smiling. Food is mediocre. The staff does not just look like they don’t want to be there, they also are not very helpful. My kid got sick and they did not allow me to take food to the room even though there is a dining table, plates and cutlery in the room alon with microwave and fridge. So I had to order from outside and give it to my kid in the room! This is the worst holiday I have ever had so far. Not recommended at all!
So this is the second time to this hotel, the first time a few years ago out of school holidays. The hotel itself is lovely, rooms spacious and clean could not fault them. The food is ok, first week seemed to be better than second. Most days I found something I enjoyed, however eating is not the greatest experience. We ate in the green room which was like an over crowded school canteen. Whilst most of the staff were great, the restaurant staff were not exactly friendly, not surprised though with that noise.
Our first week there was better than the second, more to do with the clientele. Whilst the first week seemed busy, this was nothing in comparison to the second week. Queues for the bar got worse and seemed as if some people had got on the wrong flight as they would have been more suited in Benidorm.
It is however great for families as fantastic pool and plenty of kids around. You could get sunbeds until about 10am.
Overall it is a lovely hotel, however you spend most of the time queuing for drinks and your food. The blue restaurant could be a completely different experience, who knows?
Just back from 1 week and we were very impressed with this hotel. Some reviews I had read, now that we have been and experienced it seem quite unfair. The staff were all very pleasant, very hard working and very efficient. Yes, sometimes you may have had to wait 5 minutes to get a drink, but you do the same back home in any busy bar so whats the difference. The hotel was very busy, but the pool area is massive so it never felt overwhelming, alot of sunbeds so no issue getting one. Food for an all-inclusive i have to say was very good, people talk about it being the same but there was definitely plenty to choose from, and they also have a bbq night. Again, restaurant was always very busy but well run, staff were excellent and worked very hard. Rooms were great, new clean towels most days and hotel itself was spotless. Day time and night time entertainment was good, again people can expect too much but we have been to a few all inclusive hotels in Albuferia before and the entertainment was awful, so I thought yhe team did a great job day and night. Only 1 cristism is they could do with more seating areas for the evening/night time because it does cater for a large amount of people, but thats it, we are talking about going back next year again as we were really impressed, an uber jnto Alvor town is worth a visit too, some lovely bars and restaurants. Would highly recommend this hotel 😊
Hotel was very good. Clean, food good and great choice. Popl brilliant. What let them down was the very poor entertainment for children and teenagers. Also they only allowed kids to have ice cream between 4pm-5.30pm each day which seems a little odd plus there was always queues. Kids want ice cream on holiday as an when they want it not at an allotted time. The hotel needs a good head of entertainment to organise activities for ALL ages then it would be 5stars all the way. Hopefully the management will read their reviews and act on it.
