Rocamar Exclusive Hotel and Spa

We booked this hotel in april for 7 nights as it was near the beach and old town jet 2 was advertising promo rooms with side sea veiw so we went for it as we have never visited Portugal and always book seaveiw or garden with pool ,on arrival we was dropped off 500 meters away by jet 2 minibus we are both over 70 with health problems we had to drag our luggage to the hotel then up 7 steps to reception not even a ramp and no help from staff ,they asked for €200 which you get back and a chargeable safe at just over €15 for 7 days we finds our room which was along a purple corridor ,we went straight to the veiw to find apartments ,a deralict building and a busy noisy road ,we tried to find a contact for jet 2 but number was international and we are pay as you go so only use the free wifi ,partner asked the reception if they could contact jet 2 and got a no ,i managed to get a uk rep on messenger and a rep from Portugal rang us two different days this room and veiw was depressing and the rep told me that hotel did not have a regular rep but we can book appointment which is a waste of time as by then it was thursday or friday she told us that we had booked double with balcony and that there was no partial seaveiw rooms but we know different ,the hotel itself was spotless cannit fault the cleaning ,the food is a different matter ,poor quality and basic certainly not 4 star,partner tried the cooked but only once as the fried eggs was like rubber ,the sausage was like no other he has tasted and cremated along with the bacon so only toast and juice from then on ,we only saw one couple eating in the resturant twice so we had breakfast out and our evening meal ,the toy coffee machine in room had to be changed you pay for the water to put on it and the expresso coffee pods was €1 + each pod no other coffee and no teabags ,then i asked the cleaner for a disposable shower cap that usually comes with the complementry and was told that she only speaks Portugese she also did not know what went into the different colour bags for recycleing ,we spent our days walking round the old town just to get away from the depressing room ,they have Bhuddas heads in hotel but it was a huge dissapointment and not the relaxing holiday we was hoping for ,only two friendly staff both work on the resturant bar all the rest miserable and not welcoming then you get the miserable old man with white hair to book you out ,hands the €200 back without saying a word apart from how much we owe for the safe ,no goodbye ,no thank you ,no have a safe journey nothing these people should not be in hospitality we could not wait to get away from the place ,never again will we go tonPortugal .

Location was perfect, staff are attentive. Room was not up to standard for a spa hotel, not comfortable and mattresses are very bad and need an upgrade, also comfortable seating would be good and finishing touches on decorating. A kettle would be better and more efficient for guests. Not impressed that you can not leave the hotel by the beach side until 8am in the morning, if you want to go out you have to leave by the front and walk allotment way round which involves a lot of steps, you do feel a bit imprisoned and alot of others guests said the sane on our visit.
