Surrounded by large green spaces, the hotel overlooks one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the Falésia beach in the Algarve. The spacious rooms have private balconies and a warm, contemporary décor. The gastronomic offer is diversified, with a buffet restaurant in 'food market' concept and a Brasserie restaurant, next to the outdoor pool. The hotel has 4 swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), spa, gym and tennis court. Located near natural attractions and golf courses, PortoBay Blue Ocean shares restaurants and bars with PortoBay Falésia just next door. Both hotels connect through the outdoor gardens in a pleasant walk.

Perfect Summer break
On arrival, we were very early, we were given beach towels and able to shower and change in the 'farewell room'. A fab start and an upgraded room to look forward to. Great room with a sea view. Lovely bathroom too. An empty fridge so we could stock with our own drinks. The hotel is spotlessy clean and smells like a spa. We prefer hotels which are on a few floors only and this one is curved around pools facing the ocean. Beautifully kept gardens and spaces to sit, lay, drink and eat. Staff are attentive, so friendly but unobtrusive - there just when you need them. The decked walkway between this hotel and the PB Falesia Beach is through olive trees. Access to the beach is easy and signposted and you can book and eat on either site. Food was fab and as we were leaving early, a breakfast box was prepared for us. The bars and music added to the calm relaxed feel of the hotel.
Needs service improvements
The hotel and rooms are beautiful, clean with no noise disturbances. The downside, however, was the service and the activities available for families.
Most of the staff could not communicate in English, which made it difficult to order food or make requests. We also received a lot of contradictory information from different members of staff, which made the overall service experience very disappointing. This was especially frustrating because our invoices were repeatedly incorrect and included additional charges for services we had not used. We had to ask for the invoices to be corrected several times.
The activities were also not very good, with the exception of the safari trip. However, the wine tasting experience that was part of the safari excursion was not particularly enjoyable.
The highlight of our stay was definitely the yacht trip with Ocean Quest. It was an unbelievable experience, and the company provided excellent service. I would highly recommend using Ocean Quest for water activities.
The hotel needs more training to the staff on service and information. The stay was just ok not my favorite
Great Place in a great location
This is a beautiful property in a fantastic location. if you want a relaxed family holiday centred around sun and fun, this is your place.
The service is amazing and the people are friendly and welcoming. we stayed 12 days so the dinner got a bit monotonous but was high quality
Quiet Elegance in a Stunning Setting
Our stay at PortoBay Blue Ocean was a highlight of our Portugal trip! This beautifully renovated and landscaped hotel blends elegance with a warm, welcoming atmosphere in a stunning, lush clifftop setting. The entire property — from our suite to the common areas — was impeccably clean and well-maintained.
Every member of the staff we met was professional and genuinely caring. They went above and beyond to make our trip — which was in celebration of our 46th wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday — extra special, with thoughtful surprises and an unexpected corner suite upgrade.
We loved the unique clifftop ‘lounges’ with their incredible ocean views. They were a significant reason for choosing this hotel — and they didn’t disappoint! Having direct access to the incredible miles-long Falésia Beach was a major plus.
Both the breakfast and dinner buffets were very good, with a great variety of choices. We also enjoyed the different live musicians playing each evening. The spa looked inviting, and future guests should check out the activities offered, like yoga or cocktail mixing — they looked like great fun, but we had already booked outside excursions.
We highly recommend PortoBay Blue Ocean and would love to return!

Would totally recommend!
Beautiful hotel with great views to the ocean. Calm and cozy atmosphere. Great food, I recommend choosing the half board. We got free upgrade on our room. The room was spacious and had nice design. Lovely big beds! The cleaning worked well and we got little surprises from the cleaning lady. A lot of free activities to choose from such as aquagym and pilates. Little shops and beautiful beaches were nearby and it was also easy to visit places via car/taxi such as Lagos and Mar shopping.
