Located just a short walk from the centre of the popular holiday resort of Albufeira on the Algarve Coast, this apart hotel is within easy reach of restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. The famous Praia do Forte Beach can be reached within a 10-minute walk, Aveiros Beach, Oura Beach and Fisherman's beach are close by. The international airport of Faro is at a distance of 35 km.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We arrived at the hotel, and the 2 staff working at the time were too busy telling us about the fines we would recieve for making noise past 10.30,removing towels from room, failing to return pool towels ect.....they failed to welcome us and give us a run down of the hotel, facilities ect.they also failed to tell us,or our holiday agent that their is no bar in the hotel, only pool bar which closes at 7,no resteraunt on site, the location of pool not explained,no lifeguard on duty,....told us that only 1 of our 2 apartments were booked, then sent half of our group to a different floor,on arrival at apartment found no chairs at kitchen table,no chairs on balcony, fridge open with dirty wet towel and basin inside....1 toilet roll for 4 people,it was clear to see this apartment was not prepared for visitors. When we highlighted this, thank god staff had changed and the man on desk was very helpful, chairs were put in room but for continuation of our stay our room was not serviced or toilet rolls replaced. We all showered at 6 in evening, but there was no hot.water after first person showered.....if it wasn't for the fact that I had the great company of my sisters and nieces, and if I had booked the holiday myself,I would have left straight away.....best suited to teenagers and young people who just need bed for the night
If you have booked this holiday as a family don't panic. Large room. Big wardrobe space. Big kitchen but limited plates etc. Good location. Old town walkable but approx 5euro in Uber...downloading Uber is a must. Quite a few supermarkets & shops to walk to nearby few bars for breakfasts etc Pool a good size & bit of music from pool bar but no entertainment or lifeguards. This hotel is the only place I've been you can still get sunbeds up till lunchtime as that is when all the hungover groups get up to play. No issues with them really just bit of noise at night. Main issue is with hotel & cleaning. Security should monitor pool area at night. There was glass in & around pool for 2 or 3 days and cleaning very casually just fished bits out...resulting in quite a few cut feet. Never seen them clean the pool since or add chlorine etc just collected floating chips & kebab out of water. However the man loves his leaf blower round pool & mini golf every morning. We were here 10 days had room cleaned once. Had to ask reception for clean towels, toilet roll & bin liners to empty own bin. The hotel does cater for large groups who maybe don't care about housekeeping.
Was dreading this stay as all the reviews are very negative but was it absolutely fine! It’s 100% a 3 star hotel and not a 4 but that’s fine! We travelled as a family with 2 teenagers. Apartment was fine and clean, rooms were tidied, beds changed and toilet roll given. The noise wasn’t an issue and when we spoke to reception at check in they advised they had put in a new policy where any groups pay a hefty deposit and if they are too noisy they lose it! Seemed to work as we had no bother. Pool area is ok, any groups that were there were all respectful and both my teens enjoyed it. We hired a car and managed to park outside fine! Good location to bars and restaurants and shop for food if you want it in the apartment. Overall a good stay and hope this will put people at ease as seems like people only ever write negative reviews
I stayed at Ondamar Hotel this July with a group of six after having such a great experience here last year. Unfortunately, this year’s stay was a huge disappointment.
The two-bedroom apartment we were given was noticeably older and not very clean. Housekeeping was poor throughout the week, we only had the room properly cleaned once, one of the beds wasn’t changed at all, despite us leaving the room specifically to give housekeeping access and putting the cleaning sign on the door. the bins weren’t emptied, and we constantly had to ask reception for toilet paper. We even ended up buying our own bin bags because the rubbish wasn’t being collected.
The maintenance issues made things even worse. One bathroom had a broken toilet from the day we arrived. It became blocked and leaked, and although the leak was fixed, the toilet never worked properly. The shower and sink also had drainage problems, and we even had ants in the apartment.
The reception staff were always friendly, but unfortunately the issues we reported were never fully resolved. It’s such a shame because we returned after a positive stay last year, but this experience was nowhere near the same standard. I hope the hotel improves its housekeeping and maintenance, but based on this visit, I wouldn’t rush back.
Terrible!!! Left 25th July Couldn't sleep as we heard people at all hours arriving back at accommodation. There must be a lot of stag and hen party's. Noise was horrendous.
I also stood on a peice of glass which was lying at bottom of the pool. I spoke to hotel employee at poolside and showed them the glass however, they didn't seem too bothered. This was a day after another individual cut his foot on a peice of glass which was also in the pool. Clearly no proper cleaning or maintenance.
Avoid if with kids
