Muthu Clube Praia da Oura

We have just returned from a holiday at Muthu Clube Praia Da Oura in Albufeira, Algarve, and sadly, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we have had. If you have mobility problems, walking difficulties or use a wheelchair or walking aid, I would seriously reconsider booking this hotel. The lack of lifts, numerous flights of steps and extremely uneven, crazy-paving-style paths make getting around the complex difficult and, in places, quite challenging. Even getting to the main restaurant, Jack’s, involved two flights of stairs. We saw people with wheelchairs and walking aids struggling to negotiate the hotel, and we felt the accessibility was seriously lacking. We had upgraded to a Deluxe Sea View Room, so we were quite surprised and disappointed to find that the room was actually very small. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable, and the view from our balcony was absolutely stunning. The bay itself is incredibly pretty and could have been a real highlight of the hotel. Sadly, the beautiful setting is spoilt by the untidy collection of buildings and makeshift-looking shacks that have been added onto and around the hotel. It is such a shame, as the location has so much potential, but the appearance of these additions really detracts from what should be a beautiful setting. The food was a major disappointment For a hotel advertised as four-star and all-inclusive, we expected a reasonable standard of food. Sadly, that was not our experience. The main restaurant food was very basic and, far too often, unappetising. The hotel also boasts five specialist restaurants. Three of which were half a mile away up a steep hill. We booked all five when we arrived, expecting these to be one of the highlights of our holiday. Instead, after trying two, we cancelled the remaining bookings because the standard was so poor. The Italian restaurant was pleasant, but our experience at another specialist restaurant was frankly shocking. In the Mexican restaurant ordered a Mexican pork burrito. What arrived was a wrap filled with a huge amount of very soggy rice with just a tiny amount of shredded pork. My friends' meals were equally poor and, in our opinion, completely inedible. We told the waiter how unhappy we were and eventually walked out of the restaurant. I have travelled extensively and have never walked out of a restaurant because the food was so bad before. That says everything about just how disappointed we were. Paying all-inclusive — then paying again to eat elsewhere Ironically, we eventually found a lovely beach bar not far from the hotel where the food was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up eating there most nights. But this meant spending additional money on meals because we simply didn't want to eat at the hotel — despite having already paid for an all-inclusive holiday. That was an unexpected expense we certainly had not budgeted for, and it was extremely frustrating to have to pay twice simply to enjoy decent food. Additional charges We were also very unimpressed by the charges for pool towels. The hotel charged €12 for a pool towel, which was non-refundable, plus a €20 deposit, although the deposit was refunded. For an all-inclusive four-star hotel, we found the €12 non-refundable towel charge particularly hard to accept. Our overall impression The combination of poor accessibility, endless steps, uneven paths, disappointing food, poor specialist restaurants and additional charges meant that this fell a long way short of what we expected from a four-star all-inclusive hotel. The photographs and description may give the impression of a relaxing resort, but our actual experience was very different. Would we return? Absolutely not. Would we recommend this hotel ? NEVER!

Well this was very different to last visit plus paid for this and got this. The roo. Also smells of damp. Very disappointed and won't be visiting again.
