We recently stayed at Hotel Luna d’Oura and overall we had a really good experience. The hotel itself was amazing, very clean and extremely well maintained. There are plenty of facilities available, including an indoor pool, sauna, gym, kids’ games room, hairdressers, beauty room, changing facilities, showers and luggage storage, which was really handy when waiting for transfers.
There were, however, a few things we felt could be improved.
🏊♀️ The pool area has A LOT of rules. There are no floats, balls, pool games or music allowed. As this is a self-catering hotel, we were also disappointed that you aren’t allowed to bring your own food to the poolside, while pizza is available to purchase for around €12. Unfortunately, the pizza we ordered was undercooked, so that was disappointing.
There also wasn’t a huge selection of drinks available at the poolside bar.
🧢 You have to wear a swimming cap in the indoor pool and, if you don’t have one, you have to pay €5 to buy one.
🧺 If you take the hotel towels to the pool area, there is a €30 charge, which we felt was quite excessive.
💶 The hotel also asks for a €300 security deposit. We understand the reason for a deposit, but this could be difficult for some guests. One of the people travelling with us had only brought €300 spending money for their short stay, so having that amount held as a deposit was a major inconvenience.
🧼 There is a laundry room on two floors, but unfortunately only one washing machine was working out of the two. It costs €5 to use, although a small bag of washing powder is provided.
🍹 There is also a bar beside reception, but during our 5-day stay I never once saw it open, which was a little disappointing.
⚠️ One thing I did overhear at reception was a guest reporting that money had gone missing from her room. She said the money had definitely been there before she left to sit around the pool, and that the cleaners had been in the room and changed the towels. I didn’t hear the outcome of the complaint, so I can’t comment any further or say what actually happened — I just feel it’s important to mention that this was something I personally overheard and cannot verify.
Despite these points, we genuinely enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, well maintained and has lots of facilities. We just feel that some of the rules, particularly around the outdoor pool, could be relaxed to make it feel more welcoming and enjoyable for guests.
Overall, we had a good holiday and would consider staying again, but hopefully some of these issues will be looked at in the future. ❤️🌴
Grand for the price, it is central to everything
If your a family don’t stay at this hotel. We stayed here 2 weeks ago, in our room the air conditioning was broken, the toilet was leaking so the bathroom absolutely stunk of urine and the hair dryer was hanging off the wall. This didn’t get rectified after asking them multiple times. A lot of the rooms were like this as we spoke to others who also said the same! The swimming pool was very cloudy so couldn’t really go in it as it was off putting. It is also very dated. One thing I can say is that the cleaners cleaned every day. It was definitely not worth the money.
hi there, we had a bit of a mixed experience and food was kinda bad tbh BUT PAUL PAUL PAUL!! where do i begin! paul truly did make our trip unforgettable, helped us with many questions and guided our path through a wonderful week away! PAUL PAUL YOURE NOT SMALL PAUL PAUL YOURE NOT SMALL. and also beautiful
2nd time staying here with my girlfriend (early 30s couple). We stayed for 5 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment
Cant fault the place we had a brilliant time again
Great location, plenty of shops near by, Fat Cats bar across the road, the new town strip is less than a 5 minute walk and the old town is a short taxi ride although you could also walk that in 15-20 minutes
Staff were great. Patricia at front desk who checked us in was very friendly and we had a brilliant experience with Maria the hotel manager. When we arrived there was a small mixup from booking.com. I brought this to Marias attention which didnt annoy her at all. She sat down with me explained the situation, apologised even though it was not her fault and resolved the issue straight away. I would come back to the hotel again just for my experience with the Maria and the rest of the staff
Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Housekeeping done a great job and the rooms had everything you need. Kitchenette, utensils, ironing board, TV and free WIFI
There always seemed to be enough sunbeds available around the pool
The hotel has a gym, sauna, massage service which I didnt get to use so cant review
Overall really enjoyable stay for good value and looking forward to coming back
