Hotel do Cerro

Really lovely hotel, staff really friendly and our room was cleaned every day, breakfast service worked really well and good choice , great location we are looking to book to come back next year little gem of a place 😊.

Just returned from a week at the Hotel Do Cerro. We booked through Easy jet which was a good experience. The Hotel is well placed just a short walk from the old town, although the hill was a bit steep, there is a gentle route to the main plaza. Having said that, there are good bars and restaurants within reach of the hotel, The Blue Bell inn being one ( Happy Hours) good priced drinks. majority of the bars and restaurants are good and you can choose the areas that suits so we decided to mix our visits to restaurants. There is the Marina to visit which is a bit of a walk, but the Iced coffee made it worthwhile, its served by the Dotto train, there is a bus stop outside the hotel. the No 2 bus does the circle route so after it stops at the main station you can stay on the No2 and visit all the areas of Alb, New/Old for 4Euros. The bus terminal is a good way of getting round. We used the Flix Bus to Portimao and Lisbon, both were worth the time and visit. The taxi from Terminal was 5 Euros took 5mins. No 2 bus 40mins so be aware. The Hotel is a boutique one and a home from home, very clean, the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. Staff are professional and very helpful, I would stay at the Hotel Do_ Cerro if I returned to Alb, it was ideally situated and quiet so it was a nice treat to return after a visit around Alb and beyond. Only thing I would say, the Breakfast tick box process is different, and for the staff delivering it was very time consuming, so, if I was the manager I would revisit this idea and return back to hotplates just a thought. All in all a very pleasant stay, thank you to all staff and well done to Hotel do Cerro for maintaining its charm. Thankyou Rm 215.

Just a very substandard experience. Firstly, the traveller tax. They demand it in cash. I was willing to do a bank transfer, but they said this isn't an option, which is awkward in modern times when cash isn't used. Having to exchange my UK notes just for this. Second, the prices and extras. The spa is extortionate to use, 30€ just for the jacuzzi for an hour and 5€ for a mandatory swim cap. You have to pay to hire a kettle, which is only 1€ a day, but come on, just provide it for free! Third, the aircon cant be adjusted so it stuck on 23°C and half the room lights didnt work. Lastly, I got ill after eating an undercooked omelette at the pool bar the day I arrived. The next morning the boiled eggs I ordered were runny, not the yokes, but the whites. It took 3 attempts to give me ones that were properly cooked. When I gave feedback to the receptionist, she was very patronising and suggested it was just my preference, saying that other people like theirs runny. She also brushed off my illness saying 'but you are better now'. Breakfast very poor even with the eggs done right. Juice tasted of chemicals/sweetner, no mushrooms or boiled tomatoes, no gluten-free options. Positives: room is nice and spacious, had a good night's sleep, location is very good and pool is decent.
