Clube Humbria by 3HB

Our family of 2 grandparents 1 mother and 2 children visited the 3HB Club Hubria for the 4th time this September. As with previous visits we had a fantastic time one of the highlights being a visit to Zoomarine where the children took part in a swimming with dolphins experience. Overall the hotel was excellent the apartment style rooms, the choice and variety of food and the overall cleanliness of all the facilities were all exceptional. What made the trip special was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff especially Crystal Simoes a Sub Director of the the hotel who was fantastic and helpful dealing with problems we had with one of our granddaughters who has an eating disorder and will only eat and drink very specific items. This is the second year running Crystal has been more than helpful to ensure our stay was problem free. We will definitely be returning to the 3HB Humbria and we will look forward to seeing Crystal again.

Hi we visited this hotel from the last week in August for two weeks all inclusive staying in an apartment. First I’d like to point out the apartment was very spacious and kept immaculately clean for our stay, however on arriving at about midnight very much looking forward to a much needed cuppa there were no cups or spoons no sugar,tea,coffee or milk in the apartment although there was a kettle a microwave and a two ring cooker there was no utensils or plates etc.. so how you was to eat or cook anything I’m not quite sure. The dining was not what we’d consider 4 star it was very plain and repetitive not anywhere near the standard we are used to( we ate out a lot) which is fine but you don’t expect to do this when all inclusive and we have not felt the need to do so on other holidays. Also we found this quite strange the tea and coffee machines in the dining hall were only in action during breakfast times the rest of the day they were turned off, if you wanted a hot drink from the bar it was not very convenient as the ques for the bar were long and it was a long way back to the apartment to make it there once obviously you’d got supplies in. The main issue at this hotel was the noise everyday coming from the pool area by the animation team firstly I would like to say that we always try to sit as far away from the actual pool area as of course there is a certain amount of noise , people enjoying their holiday but we were astonished at the level of the volume and the very niche kind of music being played as the hotel was full of very young babies and children, families and older people who if like us wanted to relax or read a book was impossible which is a big part of our holidays as we have very hectic lives so look forward to two weeks unwinding. We did however in our last week get a reprieve from the said animation team as they had a couple of days off and it was lovely , music was at an acceptable level for everyone to enjoy, I feel sad to say this as all other animation teams we’ve experienced usually enhance the holiday experience. So if your looking for a relaxing holiday maybe this isn’t the hotel for you and to be fair all these points I have pointed out could so easily be rectified and make this a better experience.

Stayed here for a week in summer holidays, felt a little disappointed on arrival but I did acclimatise as the week went on, in short this feels more like a 3 star hotel not a 4.

Firstly the room - if there is only 3 of you do not look at the pictures advertised, your room is actually much smaller in that you have one sofa bed, a table and kitchen squeezed in together, a separate adult bedroom and bathroom. We could see in the rooms that had 2 sofa beds in and they were MUCH bigger than ours. We also paid for pool view and all we could see was a massive tree blocking it so that was a waste of money too.

The staff are generally friendly and happy to help (a couple of bar staff look like they hate their jobs), the hotel is absolutely spotless, cleaners and groundskeepers everywhere, especially in a morning. Food quality was also good both in the restaurant and in the snack bar. Drinks being served in plastic cups everywhere is not great, you think this is a small thing but it makes you feel like you're having your cocktail in an Ikea toddler cup.

There are sunbeds reserved early in the morning, so despite what the hotel says about not reserving, they do absolutely nothing about it - so if you can't beat them you'll have to join them i'm afraid! There is one main pool, a toddler pool and the splash area - all well kept and adequate, there are toilets available near all pool areas too.

Kids club isn't really that great, and with how they've separated the ages off as anything over 8 years being part of the teens club (where not much ever seems to happen) if your child is over 8 they may be fairly bored (our 10 year old was quite disappointed there wasn't anything for her kids club wise), luckily we had a car and a lot of days out because otherwise 7 days at the hotel she'd have been bored stiff.

The entertainment team do seem friendly when out and about, but someone please update that playlist, I never want to hear i've got bills or madre tierra again in my life, especially when blasted at 10am. However the fair night was really good - kids all loved that and well put together, and the Kahoot quizzes at night were fun.

The hotel does have plenty of free parking (ask at reception and they'll activate your key card for parking around the back of the hotel), and it is also walkable to some supermarkets and Olhos beach. I would definitely advise hiring a car to go out and about, because there's no way this hotel is big enough to not leave for a week.

This review may come across a little harsh for those of you who don't usually stay in 4 or 5 star hotels, whilst this hotel claims to be 4 star it definitely feels more 3 star, upon further research Portuguese star rating systems use things such as room size to define the star rating, so if you come here expecting 4 star luxury you will be disappointed. Now I appreciate I have been spoilt by our last 2 hotels being 5* but we had stayed at a 4* before those and that felt above this one generally (not in Portugal).

All in all we wouldn't go back, i've likely become a holiday snob, but if you are used to staying at 3 star hotels you will think this place is luxury and love it.
