- Cerro Mar Atlantico Apartments

Centrally located in the popular holiday resort of Albufeira, this apart hotel overlooks the historic old town and the Atlantic Ocean. The fantastic sandy beach surrounded by impressive cliffs and a large variety of restaurants, bars, pubs and shops are within a short walk. Several excellent golf courses are within easy reach, the international airport of Faro is a 30 minutes' drive away. All units are well-appointed overlooking sea views or garden views, equipped with TV, seating areas and other amenities added for guests' comfort and convenience. Guests may enjoy a meal at Cerro Mar Garden (3 mts. away) serving both local and International dishes and chill out at the bar watching the sunset in the evening. This property also provides tennis courts and a bowling alley for guests who want to spend a few hours with sports.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Had a fabulous 5 days in the Atlantico joined our son who was in colina our room was a bit dated but very clean, everything you need for self catering and more.. there room had a massive balcony with loungers..yes I was jealous. The staff were all very friendly been 15 years since my last visit so them steps were a bit harder but didn't bother us twice a day. The snacks at the Colina were lovely so were the staff. My only moan is the screeching of chairs from the upstairs most nights.
It didn’t start well as I wasn’t aware of how hilly Albufeira is. We were allocated a studio apartment, a bit dated but spacious enough for us, not in the main hotel, but further up the hill a bit more. I did ask a receptionist as I have rheumatoid arthritis if we could be moved to the main hotel. She said no as all the studio apartments were in the Atlantico. We just had to make the most of it. All the other staff we met were lovely and friendly, in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner. The room cleaners too. Big shout out to the drivers of the hotel minibus that takes you up and down to the old town area.
excellent apartments opposite the main hotel. Clean, modern, spacious and well maintained. friendly staff and great pool areas. 3rd visit here and will be returning next year, 10 mins walk down to the square and all the night life, 20 coming back up the steps. Great atmosphere , fantastic time on OPC 26.
We stayed in the apartments across from the main hotel and I'm sure we were given the best apartment possible! Room 215, had its own front door (not on a corridor) beside the pool which was brilliant for me and my husband. If we were at the pool and needed a drink we could just pop into the apartment for a "light refreshment"!!! The cleaning staff were also so nice, they got used to seeing us at the pool (outside our front door) so they would ask if it was ok to enter the apartment.
Our back balcony was facing the main hotel so, I know some people wouldnt like the view of a road but it didnt bother us at all - after all we were there to enjoy ourselves and not to sit on the balcony - although it was great in the evening as we had the sun there from 3pm onwards
People have complained about the amount of steps down to the old town - yes there are 90+ steps but thats not the hotels fault! And also just to mention the steps arent that steep, probably about 20 or so are the rest of them are fine.
We requested a washing machine in our room (clumsy husband!) which the hotel gave us - needless to say hubby was delighted!
All in all I would 100% recommend this hotel / apartments I dont have a single complaint. But if you do have mobility problems is not the hotel for you.
I emailed the hotel from a review I read on here to ask for a top floor or one below room as the views and apartments were the best ones. We arrived before check in and were told the room would not be ready until check in ( was a few hours but worth it). We got the 5th floor with a huge balcony and sea views, with a bonus of sun beds on the balcony/patio. The patio did get rather hot so would need to go around the pool for a dip. The apartment was also huge oceans of room for 2 of us. Spotlessly clean. I had read on here that they were outdated. The sofa bed could probably do with replacing had a lot of use. We only used as a sofa didn’t need as a bed. The furniture is the typical wooden table chairs etc. we did not see the updated rooms so nothing to compare. The kitchen was well equipped a full size fridge and a good sized freezer if needed. The hotel sits on a steep hill and is not advised for people with mobility problems. There are steep steps just down from the hotel which takes you into the square. We did walk up them after a few nights out but it takes some determination. There is an Aldi and a Lidl 5 minutes walk depending on how much you buy it is easily walkable. Taxis are readily available however, we didn’t bother brought 2 bags of shopping and walked back. I had not been to the old town for 10 years and how it has changed. It’s like the strip now and so busy. There are some lovely places to eat we enjoyed a meal every night. As I said earlier would not recommend if you have any mobility problems. Would recommend the Cerro mar and would return if decided to holiday in Albuferia again.
