Really special place beautiful Albufeira the hotel was just what we wanted very quite ,lovely room and close to everything
On our arrival we were hit with a 100 euro or £ CASH only deposit. As we were only there 3 nights none of us had this. We had to find a cash point at 11pm. This then changed to 150 each. 600 euros we had to find. The local tax also was cash only. Not a great start! When we finally got to the room we were very happy. Lots of space for 4, great sea view balcony. However they have many awful rooms which don't have sea view. Be careful who you book with, you don't get what you book with Love holidays for 1. I would check with hotel before you go. If you leave the hotel and go left there is a nice cafe that sells lovely Ice pops and coffee/food as the hotel has nothing. Just round the corner to the left you'll find the spar shop and a few other shops. Keep walking down and you're at the Beach with loads of shops and bars. We liked the sunbeds to the far right with tables. There is a public toilet up the steps. I wouldn't stay at the Almar with young children. The pool bar was cash only and no one was ever there. Pool had loads of bugs in. Still had a lovely swim but kids would hate it. The walk up and down to the beach would have been a struggle also. There are escalators when you get to the beach. Not always working and very steep. Would recommend Restaurant Sal & Mar and the one just before it. Looking over the Beach. Excellent meals and lovely looking Breakfast.
If you want ants in your child's bed, this is the place for you.
We had a massive ant problem during our three-day stay. There were ants everywhere in our room—even in the child's bed. We have a video showing nine ants in the child's bed at once.
Other footage shows a tissue covered in ants, numerous entry points along the balcony door and walls, and a wide trail of ants on the building's exterior, directly above our balcony. We were offered two other rooms on different floors and in different areas of the hotel, but masses of ants were getting in there too, coming through the poorly sealed balcony doors.
In total, we personally encountered this problem in at least three different rooms.
Although the hotel did attempt to seal some of the entry points, we had to follow up repeatedly. Hotel management was unavailable to us, and we couldn't find a direct contact address on the hotel's website either.
All attempts to resolve the issue through Booking.com were also unsuccessful. In the end, we didn't get a single cent back from the hotel. Booking.com, however, made a real effort to find a solution and ultimately granted us a small credit.
At nearly €200 per night, this is completely unacceptable to us. I would advise families with children against booking here.
Beautiful location We were on the third floor with a beautiful view The downside was the pool area is dangerois. I feel for anyone tripping on the loose bricks Pool is ok. A lot of seagull droppings are everywhere and never seen anyone attempt to clean Quiet hotel. Not a great vibe. We were shouted at as I brought a can of lager and some crisps down to the lounger as they have a rule. Ok. If that’s what they want. No one buying anything at the hatch anyway all week The bathroom needs renovation. Shower poor We had the ants problem. Some mornings it was a swarm everywhere The air conditioning polls outside which we reported but were told that’s normal ? Overall for the price we weren’t that bothered but it’s never a three star. After all we only sleep here No groups which is good and good location for the beach and old town without hanging the noise. Would look again if the price was right. The area is good
Hotel was absolutely awful!!! Outdated, looked like it had not been touched since the 80’s! Dinghy drab and unpleasant! There was an ant infestation in our living room that stopped us from using it! And when we told staff they did absolutely nothing about it!! The cheek of them to ask for £150 euro security deposit is absolutely disgusting I’ve stopped in 5* hotels that didn’t ask for this!? Party places too! The bed was hard and uncomfortable the sheets were awful and they didn’t change the bedding the whole week and only received clean towels twice with in the week! The pool was dirty and so were the sunbeds! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
