ln the picturesque village of Olhos de Água (Albufeira), a traditional fishing village that perfectly combines calm and tradition with all the needed comfort and facilities, you will find the perfect place for an amazing carefree holiday on an All Inclusive basis. Explored until 2021 by another hotel group, it reopened in April 2022 under the 3HB Hotels brand – now as 3HB Guaraná! Surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches of the Algarve, it will be difficult to choose between a day at the beach, in one of the two outdoor pools or in the heated indoor pool. There is also a children's pool exclusively for the little ones of the family! A varied gastronomic offer with 3 different restaurants, pool bar, swim-up bar, lounge bar and snacks will delight everyone. But as All Inclusive also means lots of fun, services and activities, we also have to highlight the complete entertainment programme, SPA, gym, multipurpose court, kids club and playground, Disco-bar and free Wi-fi in the rooms and common areas.
AMAZING hotel!
We have just returned from a 7-night stay at 3HB Guarana - two adults and two children aged 3 and 5 -and we absolutely loved it. We travelled with Jet2 and had no issues at all.
Check-in & Arrival Check-in was quick and assistance was provided with our luggage. As we arrived around noon, our room wasn't quite ready, but we were given somewhere secure to store our luggage and off we went to explore the hotel and enjoy some lunch. The information leaflet provided at check-in is really informative and useful. We were also each given a reusable water bottle, which was incredibly handy. We filled ours throughout the day and took them up to bed each evening.
Tip: Take some stickers for your children to decorate their bottles so you can easily tell whose is whose! We used bobbles around the bottles, which worked well too.
Our Room The room was good and cleaned thoroughly every day. We had an excellent shower and bathtub, and the beds were very comfortable. The pillows were a little too soft for my preference, although there were plenty of them! The fold-out sofa was used as a bed for our girls, and they both slept really well on it. The double bed was enormous, and the curtains were fantastic at keeping the room dark; always a bonus when travelling with young children! There wasn't a kettle in the room, although I believe these are available on request.
Dining Absolutely amazing! There was so much choice and plenty of everything. Even the pickiest of eaters would have managed perfectly well. My husband and I tried everything we could, and we were never disappointed. The amount of work that went into the dining experience was incredible. The staff never seemed to stop.. they worked incredibly hard throughout every meal service. The drinks selection across the bars was also excellent. There were juices, water, slushies, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta and iced tea. Alcoholic drinks included various cocktails, a couple of beers, Somersby cider, red, white and rosé wine, and sparkling wine. There were also plenty of hot drinks, including coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
Pool Area & Cleanliness Drinks were, of course, allowed around the sunbeds, and there were designated areas for cups and glasses once you'd finished. Staff were regularly walking around collecting them too, which kept the pool area lovely and tidy. In fact, the whole hotel was immaculate. The staff work incredibly hard to keep everything maintained and spotless. I regularly saw the gardens being tended to and cleaning taking place throughout the day and into the evening.
Entertainment As a family, you really couldn't ask for more. Unfortunately, our youngest daughter is just under four, so she wasn't old enough to be left at the kids' club. However, she could join in as long as an adult accompanied her, which I did. It was lovely to see how well the staff interacted with the children. From what I observed, the kids' club seemed relatively underused, although we were there towards the end of the UK school holidays, so perhaps there were fewer children than in previous weeks. There was lots planned for the children, and we will definitely make use of it next year. The entertainment throughout the day was a really pleasant surprise for me. It was brilliant! The staff were very good at what they do and regularly reminded everyone about what was coming up. There's also a really handy touchscreen on the lower floor showing everything planned for the week. The aqua-gym and aqua-dance sessions were great fun, and the pool party was AMAZING! We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The pool was full of dancing guests with balloons, fantastic music and entertainment staff who really knew how to create an atmosphere. The evening entertainment each night was also very good. I particularly loved the sax players in the early evening, followed by a different form of entertainment later on.
The band performing 80s music during our stay were fabulous - our daughter asked if she can have them for her birthday :D The circus was particularly enjoyed - what a fantastic display! And then there was the fair on Friday evening. We weren't expecting anything quite like it and were blown away by how much was provided. Our girls had the best time! The children's entertainment at 8pm each evening was something we all looked forward to. And when all the parents joined in for the final song and dance, it was great fun. The entertainment team were fantastic. Honestly, I can't praise them highly enough.
Pools The pools were really cold when you first got in, but to be fair, within about a minute it was absolutely fine. I'm sure it wouldn't be particularly pleasant to swim in a warm pool during such hot weather, so I completely understand the cooler temperature. The indoor pool was lovely and warm, and we did try it out. However, the children wanted to jump into the pool, which wasn't allowed, so we didn't stay in there for long. The steam room and sauna looked lovely, though. One of my favourite features was the children's pool on the higher level. It was shallow and partially covered for shade - absolutely perfect. Our little ones also loved the splash zone, with the water sprays and slides. It would be good if the kiddies pool on the ground floor had some shade too. The only slight issue we encountered was with the system for unwanted pool and beach items. There are two boxes where guests can leave things such as pool/beach toys and inflatables (swim rings, armbands, etc.) that they no longer need at the end of their holiday, so that other guests can make use of them. I think this is a really lovely idea and a great way of reusing items rather than leaving them behind. However, it seems that items accidentally left around the pool area are also placed into these boxes. Unfortunately, this happened to us: within a couple of hours, our daughter's brand-new armbands had disappeared, and within two days, her swim ring had gone too. We initially thought we'd simply misplaced them, but it became clear they had probably been put into the communal boxes. It might be worth having any found items taken to the lost property at reception instead, with only items deliberately left by guests being placed in the communal boxes. This would hopefully avoid any confusion and prevent other people's belongings from inadvertently being given away.
Pool Towels One of the best things about the whole experience was the hotel's provision of clean pool towels every day. What a treat! They were really good quality - fluffy, soft and absorbent. Such a simple thing, but it made such a difference.
Overall All in all, 3HB have absolutely nailed the all-inclusive hotel experience. We loved our week and will definitely be returning. We met a number of guests who told us it was a repeat visit for them, and after our stay, we're not surprised at all. A fantastic hotel, brilliant food, excellent entertainment, incredibly hardworking staff and so much for families to enjoy. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to return!
Stayed at the end of school holidays. On arrival we were in a family room but we needed two rooms as my daughter has autism and finds it hard when we all share a room. Katarina on reception was amazing. The hotel was almost full but she managed to move things around for us to have adjoining rooms. We did pay a fee but it was worth it. Katarina is a credit to 3hb hotels. All staff worked very hard. The cleaners were excellent eveything was immaculate. The entrainment was pretty good i didnt enjoy every night but there was plenty of variety and you cant please everyone. The food was varied with lots or vegetarian and gluten free options. You can book other restaurants as well which were all lovely. There was a sports bar and i really enjoyed the daily bingo at 3.30pm. We got a taxi to zoo marine only 20 minutes away. The gym is a bit small but has all the equipment needed. My son loved the pool party and there were self serve drink stations for beer, fizzy pop and water. You were given a refillable water bottle which i was grateful for. We stayed last year and enjoyed so much so we came back again. I do have a few minor suggestions. The beds are comfortable but two pillows were to much and one was not enough so the size needs changing. The pools were freezing and made me daughter feel ill and wouldnt even go in. The tv in the gym has the news on please could this be changed to a music channel. The same tape was being played over again every day which we found ignoring in the end. All in all a brilliant holiday and we will be back again if its affordable. Thanks so much for giving us a great holiday. Kind regards Mel 🙂
We have just got back from an amazing holiday from this hotel. The hotel is clean, staff were amazing and friendly.Good choice of food from the main restaurant and the Snack Bar was particularly good and open till 11.30pm. Our boys of 19 and 13 had plenty to do with the near by bars and restaurants. The beaches nearby were beautiful.Highly recommend the Boat trip to see the Caves and Dolphins.
We arrived home yesterday after a lovely week in this hotel. It's beautifully clean and everything is lovely quality.
We cancelled private Jet 2 transfers (£196 return) and used Bolt via the app and it cost us €85 return for an XL (4 adults, 4 cases plus hand luggage). We also used Bolt for a trip to Albuferia and it was €5 each way and a fab service.
Its a 10 minute walk to the small beach and its really nice down there with a few shops and bars.
2 of the 4 of us did a Dolphin spotting cave tour boat trip booked through the hotel rep. Could probably have done it cheaper direct but worked well for us.
We tried each of the restaurants in the hotel and loved the addition of the Oriental and Mediterranean restaurants, and we used the latter twice. The snack bar was an absolute saviour for one of out kids who is a very plain eater. There was so much choice and food was lovely.
Drinks were really lovely, branded spirits (very large measures) and we loved a vodka slush at the pool bar.
Entertainment was actually fine. We had read that people were disappointed but we thought the live music was great especiallythe 80's night. Karaoke lacked audience participation but this was no fault of the hotel. We didn't access younger kids entertainment as our kids are older. We didn't tend to do activities through the day but we spent many hours reading by the pool and WiFi was really good throughout the places we went. There was always multiple daytime activities and lots to do.
A really big positive for us was the indoor pool, spa area and gym. Our older kids visited every day and really enjoy this part of the hotel.
The sports bar particularly on a weekend was a good option although commentary was in Portugese as was the room TV as you would expect.
We had interconnecting rooms which were a game changer for us...2 rooms side by side with an adjoining middle door. Perfect for families with older kids. Staff work incredibly hard to keep the hotel clean and the toilets were always so clean.
Our view was the front of the hotel and this didn't bother us however, it was shaded do didn't dry swimwear and towels.
Faro airport was the downside for me. Really disappointing and the passenger assistance was nothing short of disgusting. I highlighted this with Jet 2 mid stay and was given a return plan. Sadly they managed to make it even worse but....the airport queues were ok. we arrived 3 hours early and check in was already open. The longest we had to wait in any queue was around 10 minutes. The food areas were ok and we had plenty of time to eat and drink before boarding.
For anyone wanting Duty Free Jet 2 had a fantastic deal on spirits and you can see this via the app.
Really lovely hotel, would definitely recommend a visit and for us it was higher than the 4 stars that it is rated. I only have one small criticism of the facilities and that is the pool/billiard room. Improvement is desperately needed to upgrade the pool tables and equipment. There was no chalk for the cues which us something that costs very little and would have made them at least playable. This could be a lovely area with a small upgrade.
Thank you for a lovely holiday xx
Booked this holiday with fiancé as we were just newly engaged and were able to travel child free as a one off. Hotel clean and food good variety but absolutely nothing around there and also the hotel was massively geared towards kids. We’ve been away with our son many times and enjoyed the entertainment round the pool but this was next level. Music so loud you could not even read your book. There were many pools also which is why we booked this hotel. Various splash areas for kids and baby paddling pools which I thought meant was enough room for everyone but the older kids were allowed to literally take over the larger pool too with a pool party on top of the fact they had games on all day for them in the pool and aerobics. Pool party was next level noise, loads of splashing and massive balls flying around for them to pass. It was literally a no go zone so we hot footed it to the beach most days. Even the swim up pool bar was taken over by kids. I thought that this would have meant a more elevated experience but they were serving non alcoholic slushies there most of which went in the pool as the kids swam with their cups in their mouths. Paid a lot of money for 1 week here for two people and this was not advertised as a family favourite as was the other 3HB round the corner. I wondered what the difference was… we are not anti kids by far but this took the Michael.
