Avoid avoid avoid
We travelled with a disabled family member and emailed the hotel a few weeks multiple times to tell them this expressing a request to check in early as our flight landed early and we needed one of our rooms ready early. Needless to say this request was not met and the receptionist that my partner messaged denied ever having received any such message until we showed him. He was rude sarcastic and treated us with distain. We were left to sit in reception with all our bags waiting for a room to be ready. It took 3 hours to get a room ready out of the hundreds of rooms they couldn’t get one ready!? Upon checking in they took our card as a deposit hold which I suppose I’d standard for all hotels to give your card details but they then said they were going to debit £1500 from our account to hold in their account for any costs we may accrue…… WHAAAAAATTTT!!!! Since when was this a rule to take so much money from somebody just in case??? Jet 2 holidays did not tell us this would happen neither did reception until we properly checked in. What an absolutely disgusting disgrace. No one understands what you’re saying and almost everything is lost in translation. The pool staff are amazing but the inside staff are like faulty towers. It’s no joke to say any request was taken the wrong way, misconstrued and mistakenly taken for something else, there was always something wrong. This hotel doesn’t know what it is, a holiday destination, a conference centre, a business training hotel, wedding reception……. One day the whole pool area was closed off for a wedding which was happening at night wth??? No notice was given to guests after uproar they “let us” use the area until 4.30 how kind. The area around the hotel is a hole, dirty littered and unsafe. Would I be back not in a million years

Excellent Wedding experience
We had our wedding at the Westin Reef Club and we couldn't have made a better choice.
Excellent food and organisation. Spectacular venue and the staff were amazing.
Insightful & stunning
Upon arrival stunning decor, clean and had a wonderful smell in the airm. We were greated by warm friendly staff. Unfortunately we had to wait nearly 2 hours before our bedroom was ready and this was after the allocated check in time. No apology or incentive given. Room was lovely however, clean sheets are not provided everyday & they're issues with the drains. Swimming pools are clean & well maintained, beautiful views. Staff that are responsible for towels are always on their phone and should perhaps be put to better use. Breakfast was nice although became quite boring after day 3 the variety is limited to the atypical items. It would have been nice to have experienced maltese dishes for breakfast. Coffee machines are not great but there is a bar that can cater for better coffee. Lobby bar is great very efficient with great food compared to the pool bar where we were ignored for 30 minutes and ended up leaving. Room service is very strange they either make your room really late in the afternoon or turn up before 9am and wake you up. The location of this hotel is perfect theres a lot to do and see. I have visited other Westins that were absolutely flawless sadly Dragonara is lacking definitely not a 5* hotel but is worth a visit if you don't have high expectations.
No wheelchair accessible room without mould? have a free smoothie!
I have been coming here since I was a child, been here over a dozen times, but unfortunately this will be our last time at westin dragonara ever. The way we have been treated is simply abysmal. Upon checkin we reminded the staff we need an accessible room since I’m disabled and a wheelchair user. The room was covered in mould and due to an allergic reaction we were forced to ask the staff to move us to a different room. There were no more accessible rooms available so we got an "upgrade" which means I had to crawl on the floor and overexert my body trying to walk. Upon complaining we got free smoothies. I can not express how dehumanising and disrespectful this "compensation" was. I literally had to choose between a mouldy room causing severe health issues or an inaccessible room causing severe health issues. Check-in took a long time since this was supposed to be a family trip but my mother had a heart attack she could not join us but the reservation was in her name. Even after showing her passport, the booking information, the marriott app etc. we were still treated like frauds. The name on the reservation was changed and only after my father sent an email we could access the app again after already being here for over a week. The accessible bathroom at the reef pool was closed as well which was not communicated so I had to use a bathroom far away (could only get there with support) or a regular bathroom. Since we were kind of stuck in our inaccessible room we tried to order room service multiple times but none of our meals arrived complete. Miscommunication with the staff was a reoccurring issue during our stay while I speak 5 languages fluently which is laughable for a hotel this size and at this price point. We also tried the buffet which was a terrible experience. Children running around and screaming, grabbing food with their hands and putting it back etc. (we had a child with us as well so we tolerate a lot but this was overstimulating and disgusting to say the least) The guests were physically moving my and my wheelchair like an object and I was in pain all night because of this. There are rules for a reason but they are not being enforced. We saw people (daily) in swim attire still dripping wet walk through the lobby while that's not allowed. We had to ask staff for help because there was a child stuck in the elevator who was screaming and panicking while children are not allowed to use it without an adult etc. it felt more like we were in a cheap resort in turkey or spain then a nice hotel in Malta. We wanted to book a taxi via the hotel but all we got was "book a bolt or uber" which is not the service we expect. The westin dragonara has completely ruined our vacation, our trips, our adventures and memories. This vacation has caused permanent damage to my body and I will have to go to the hospital as soon as we get home for an emergency appointment. What happened here this year was simply a violation of human rights, and we paid big bucks to suffer. We tried to make the most of it but I can not emphasise enough that this is and never will be okay. I have attached two pictures of the shower in our mould room after I tried to clean and scrub it.
